Design and Development of a Web-based education system (웹 기반 가상학습 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • We have many difficult problems to efficient development and management of a Web-based education system because of the various requirements of various demanders. A Web-based education system consists of instructors and operation managers of system and learners. Those three factors are the most important e]ements of a Web-based education system and we must consider those elements for design and development. In constructivist approach. acquiring knowledge is made by experiences among each members or elements. So we can say that the constructivist elements of a Web-based education system is learners and instructors, operation managers. In this study, we design and implement a Web-based education system, based on the interactions of extended demanders of Web-based education system in constructivist approach and object oriented modeling. In this study we can improve portability and reduce cost because of platform independence from presented system. And in experiment, we compare and analyse two platform web-based education system a point of effectiveness, cost, convenience.

  • We are focusing on an approach which handle a general Web as a resource in order to support self-directed learning for a student. Then, we are developing a Web based learning environment "Web-Retracer"for utilizing Web as teaching materials by a user′s Annotation. Although the learner can share the Web resource that the others utilized in this environment, Web resources unsuitable for a student′s needs becomes hindrance about her/his self-directed learning. In this paper, we propose a recommending method of the resource united with a student′s needs on the basis of a student′s learning and Web browsing history. This method analyzed the feature peculiar to a resource, and extracts the resource with which the needs of the feature and a student agreed.

  • This paper proposed a Web-based training service for product data management by supporting an integrated product data management system, various technical documents. and efficient communication systems. It also supports a general product development process and a consistent product data model that enable participants to experience management of consistent product information during the product development life cycle. The Web based environment of the service also provides participants with a collaborative workplace with other participants and a Web portal for all the components of the service.

The effects of culture teaching through web-based college English classes (대학 교양영어 수업에서 웹 기반 문화교육에 의한 학습 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of culture teaching and using web sites as a method of culture teaching in college English education. To achieve these purposes, a web-based culture teaching-learning model was developed and applied in English classes. Then, the effects were compared with those of a culture teaching method which were based on the traditional verbal explanation. As the tools for this study, two test sheets were used to measure language proficiency and American cultural knowledge. Focusing on the study results, the conclusions were summed up as follows: First, for enhancing the American cultural knowledge, using the web was found to be more effective than traditional verbal explanations. Second, for English language enhancement through web-based culture teaching, it is necessary to do it for each level of English proficiency or develop web sites which fit well with students' interests or levels.

  • A new way of teaching on the Internet can be called Web Based Instruction (WBI). WBI goes far above and beyond teaching in the school. It will have an impact on overall educational activity that will dramatically change many existing educational processes and persuade most teachers to change their conventional teaching methods. The main purposes of this research were to make a comparative study of academic achievement between expository lecture and web-based instruction, and to identify the difference in academic achievement of learning tasks in pre- and post- experiments of WBI. The conclusions of this study were as follows. First. there are no differences in academic achievement between expository lecture and teacher- directed web based instruction. Second, there are no differences in academic achievement between expository lecture and teacher-assisted web based instruction. Third, there is difference in academic achievement between teacher-assisted web based instruction and teacher-directed web based instruction. Fourth, there are no differences in academic achievement of reading tasks in pre- or post- experiments of teacher-directed web based instruction. On the basis of the research results and discussion, we finally present a Web-Application-Model (WAM) to encourage the usage of Internet as a useful teaching channel.

  • In these days, because of internet activation, each organs of education or istructors develop and manage the web based education system, but component development that used in web based education system development is not ready. When we develop the web education system using component, we can gain the various desired result of reusability, interaction in various computers, expansion, reduction of development time, saving of development expense, etc. Therefore, in this paper we classified the web based education components by the function of web based education system, did modeling for development process of components, and chose the component platform that can reuse components in distributed computing environment that the client/server environment is supported. The induction of these web based education components will be give many assistance to development of the web based education system.

A Study on the Comparison and Analysis of Learning Effects of Web-based and Traditional Lecture in Java Programming Education (자바 프로그래밍 교육에서 웹 기반 강의와 면대면 강의의 학습 효과 비교 분석 연구)

  • Recently, as the use of the Internet and the Web becomes universal, there has been a great deal of efforts to use it for education. The advantage of a Web-based lecture is that people can take it anywhere at a low cost anytime. Therefore, its prospect is very bright and its potential customers abound. The demand for java programming education using the Web is increasing. This paper compares and analyzes the learning effects of Web-based and traditional lectures in a java programming course, using statistical inference. Based on the analysis result, it concludes that the learning effects of the Web-based lecture are less effective than those of traditional lecture. Also, it recognizes weak points of Web-based lecture in java programming education and proposes a scheme for enhancing Web-based lectures.

  • Web Services following distributed object computing technology like DCOM, CORBA provides remote procedure call mechanism based on XML-based open standard such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, and it is spotlighted as means of integration and collaboration at e-business. Especially, UDDI is the Web Services Registry enabling to register and search Web Services, that takes charge of providing infrastructure for Web Services. However, the existing UDDI has a few problems that searching process is very simple and it cannot provide information of Web Services quality and quality-based retrieval. Therefore, this study suggest improved UDDI model that evaluates the Web Services quality and use this information for searching.

Implementation of Web-based Virtual Machine Tools (Web 기반 가상공작기계의 구현)

  • A key factor far realizing the internet-based virtual manufacturing system(VMS) and virtual enter-prise(VE) is how to precisely and effectively represent the machine elements and mechanics. In this paper, we present methods to represent the numerically controlled machine tools in the internet environment. The method is composed of: 1) geometrical modeling of the machine tools, 2) kinematic modeling for the movements of the machine tools, and 3) representing the developed model in the internet infrastructure. Based on the models. a web-based virtual machine tools (WVMT) is developed, and it can be accessed at hrrp://wvmt.postech.ac.kr. The WVMT can be used for various purposes: 1) web-based virtual manufacturing system, 2) web-based CAM system, and 3) CNC educational tools for the vocational school through internet.

  • As information and business communication via Internet are growing up, web-based software is wide spread and more important on the viewpoint of software qualify than stand-alone. Research on verification of web content links and web-based Program was tried, but has short on covering various types of web based software and making experiments to be applied in real testing practice. This paper suggests a modeling technique to be applied to dynamic and various types of web-based software. First, it identifies each elements consisting of web-based software and then construct a model of Object Control Flow Graph and Object Relationship Diagram. We can generate test cases covering all test paths of ORD or invoking key points test route. Suggested modeling method and test case selection technique are verified by applying five types of web-based software and compared with other web-based test techniques.
