  • We consider a web transport system. The objective of this paper is to design the controller such that desired tension and processing on web transport system. We propose the new design method which is independent with operating condition. The proposed method used a nonlinear feedback to transform to linear system. We show a performance of controller via the simulation.

  • A mathematical model describing the relationship between longitudinal tension and tangential velocity of web/roller in a multi-span web transport system has been developed. An experiment was carried out for typical conditions to validate the mathematical model for tension behavior in a multispan system. A two-span prototype prototype web transport system with winder and unwinder was manufactured for the experiment. By comparing simulation and experimental results, the mathematical model for tension and velocity in a multi-span web transport system is confirmed to be valid for typical conditions. Tension transfer phenomenon was also confirmed though the simulation as well as experimentation.

  • We consider a web transport system. The objective of this paper is to design the output feedback controller such that the controller can track a desired tension and processing speed on web transport system. We propose the new design method using observer and feedback linearization technique. The proposed method use a nonlinear feedback to transform to linear system and high gain observer to estimate the state value. We show that the proposed controller can achieve the control object using only output. We show a performance of controller via the simulation.

  • Fixed-gain and variable-gain PID control of tension in the winding section of a simple web transport system were evaluated. An open-loop mathematical model for the web transport system was derived and used for the design of the PID controllers. The winding roll radius is a timevarying parameter in the model. The fixed-gain PID controller designed at a particular instant of time could not meet the desired specifications, whereas the variable-gain PID controller could produce accurate tension control in the winding section. An advantage of the variable-gain control is its simplicity. This approach is easy to implement and shows promise for applications where the time-varying parameters are easily measured.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the tension control in a web transport system. Direct self-tuning regulator method was applied to tension controller and variable-gain PID control algorithm was applied to web speed controller. The designed controllers compensated for the time-varying parameters and tracked reference tension in process speed changing. The simulation shows that direct STR tension controller improves tension control performance in comparison with other controllers.

  • Animal and crop production systems were integrated on a single farm. This integrated farming system recycled nutrients on the farm. The separation of animal and crop production with the introduction of cheap commercial fertilizers, farms were not used land-applied manure. The on-line manure matching is one of the emerging business in the achievement of recycling and resource recovery. The manure matching actively promotes the reuse and recycling of by-products and manure. This study constructs to manure matching information system to solve the exchange problems between herders and croppers. Manure matching web sites designed. This paper introduces a web-based animal manure matching system. A manure matching service, part of the manure transport, links farmers who produce excess manure with farmers who can use the manure. Farmers registered with the service have requested manure. The manure matching service supports the transport project by linking farmers with excess manure with those farmers who can utilize the manure safely as a nutrient source. The goal of the service is to protect water quality by fostering efficient land application. Benefits to those who use the manure network include reduced disposal costs, lower purchase costs and recycling of manure. The manure matching is based on the principle that 'one persons waste is another person's fertilizer.' It provides a free online matchmaking service for environmentally safe manure recycling management system.

  • A novel mathematical modeling in web transport systems for Continuous Annealing Processes (CAP) is proposed. Despite of thermal and weight effects in dynamics of web transport systems, the conventional mathematical model does not consider those effects. Disregard of these effects causes the low manufacturing quality of webs in CAP. In order to improve the manufacturing quality of webs in CAP, moreover, precise tension control is required based on the mathematical model. Therefore, an advanced mathematical model considering thermal and weight effects in CAP should be established. The effectiveness of a novel mathematical model is evaluated by comparing the performances of the PI tension control system based on the proposed mathematical model with that based on the conventional one through the computer simulation.

  • There are two kinds of controllers in a continuous process system. One is for tension control of a moving web and the other for lateral motion control. The inter-connection between tension and lateral behaivior of web has not yet been considered in the analysis of web dynamics and designing of control stragagies. But the effect of tension variation on the lateral motion of a moving web is observed in the most manufacturing systems. In this paper, experimental studies was carried out to find out the inter-correlation between tension and lateral motion of a web using a 3-span web transport system which consists of two displacement type guiders. As a result, it was found that there are typical operating conditions that tension and lateral motion are correlated each other.
