  • In case that limited resources can be mobilized, non-structural countermeasures such as 'monitoring using Information and Communication Technology might be one of solutions to mitigate disaster risks. Having established the monitoring system, operational and maintenance costs to maximize the effectiveness might trouble the authority concerned or duty attendant who is in charge. In this respect, "Guerrilla Sensor" would be very cost effective because of the inherent mobility characteristic. The sensor device with the IRIS camera and GPS (Global Positioning System) equipped, is basically battery-operated and communicates with WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access). It has a strong advantage of capabilities for 'Disaster Response' with immediate and prompt action on the spot, making the best use of IoT (Internet of Things), especially with the mobile web. This paper will explain how the sensor system works in real-time GIS (Geographic Information System) pinpointing the exact location of the abnormal movement/ground displacement and notifying the registered users via SMS (Short Message Service). Real time monitoring with early warning and evaluation of current situations with LBS (Location Based Service), live image and data information can help to reduce the disaster impact. Installation of Guerrilla sensor for a real site application at Gimcheon, South Korea is also reported.

  • Mobile (smartphone) search engine marketing is increasingly important. Accordingly, the development of visual apparel search technology to obtain easier and faster access to visual information in the apparel field is urgently needed. This study helps establish a proper classifying system for an apparel search after an analysis of search techniques for apparel search applications and existing domestic and overseas apparel sites. An annotation technique is developed in accordance with visual attributes and apparel categories based on collected data obtained by web crawling and apparel images collecting. The categorical composition of apparel is divided into wearing, image and style. The web evaluation site traces the correlations of the apparel category and apparel factors as dependent upon visual attributes. An appraisal team of 10 individuals evaluated 2860 pieces of merchandise images. Data analysis consisted of correlations between apparel, sleeve length and apparel category (based on an average analysis), and correlation between fastener and apparel category (based on an average analysis). The study results can be considered as an epoch-making mobile apparel search system that can contribute to enhancing consumer convenience since it enables an effective search of type, price, distributor, and apparel image by a mobile photographing of the wearing state.

  • The study examined 131 icons that appeared in major Web sites for the use of children. Out of 131 icons, 66 icons were selected as core icons by calculating the number of their occurrence in the same category. The 66 icons were examined to find out whether they meet the evaluation criteria. And also 66 icons were presented to the children to find out whether they immediately recognize the meaning of each icons. Finally, the study investigated to find out the correlations between the results of evaluations by criteria and the results of the children's recognitions of meaning of each icons. As a results of the study, it presented 16 icons that were proved to be appropriate for the use of children.

  • The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations are a potpourri of diverse religions, races and cultures with rich natural and cultural heritage but yet to tap the full potential of tourism. An investigation into the glorifying heritage of these eight SAARC nations pinpoints towards their rich food and culinary heritage that is yet to be explored to carve them as food destinations that would definitely help ameliorating tourism too. The Global Report on Food Tourism of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reveals results from a survey on food tourism marketing promotion, from which internet marketing tools, such as websites have been effectively utilized to promote food tourism in a particular destination. (UNWTO, 2012). Sensing the importance of the websites in the promotion of food tourism for any destination, the present study aims at the comparative content analysis of the official tourism websites of SAARC nations to evaluate their performance from the perspective of promotion of culinary heritage on world -wide web. The modified Balanced ScoreCard (BSC) approach is incorporated into the evaluation by taking into consideration four perspectives: technical, user friendliness and site attractiveness, tourism effectiveness and food tourism effectiveness. A set of 88 critical success factors representing these four perspectives is then used to examine the websites. The study reflects on the relative strength and weakness of the tourism websites of SAARC nations in promoting food tourism and as well help suggesting the remedial measures catalyzing the food tourism promotion through websites.

  • The SNS(Social Network Service or Social Network Sites), the concept which came along with the Web2.0 is on-line service which focuses on building social network communities of people which used to be established off-line. Foreign SNS sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter and domestic SNS sites such as Cyworld, Me2Day are getting popularity continuously and became one of the most important application in internet environments. Since these SNS sites have the purpose of providing infrastructure which enable all the people to share his/her interests with all the other people, it is necessary to appraise whether these sites provide convenient interfaces with proper accessibility to handicapped people and old people who are considered having difficulties in using internet. Web accessibility refers to the practice of providing equal access to people of all abilities and disabilities. If the web accessibility of a SNS site is so low that handicapped people and old people cannot use it properly, those gaps between user groups may become social problems. Therefore, the paper appraised web accessibility of Facebook and Cyworld using automatic tool, KADO-WAH 2.0 and Standard guideline, WCAG 2.0 and suggested the improvement opportunities based on the results of the appraisal.

When users visit shopping mall, the best objective is determined to users by of offering satisfaction and pleasant experience. Therefore. this paper was selected a menu list as an evaluation factor to emphasize a usage convenience of internet shopping mall, and executed a performance and a subjective satisfaction evaluations on a screen design and a structure design. The results of all the performance and the subjective evaluations for the screen design were shown the shortest search times on left type of the main-menu and vertical type of the medium-menu. In the structure design, it was shown that users were the highest satisfaction in type that search product and shopping cart procedure were firstly processed, and the procedure of a shopping membership and paying a bill were secondly processed at the same screen with regard to a comprehensibility and convenience of purchase procedure. It was shown that the user prefered the shopping mall web site to analogy with the real purchase procedure

  • MIPROBE is a web-based tool for design of universal, genus-specific, and species-specific primers and probes. The main functions of MIPROBE are collection of target gene sequences, construction of consensus sequences, collection of candidate primers and probes, and evaluation of candidates by BLAST. Biologists with little computer skills can easily use MIPROBE to design large-scale universal, genus-, and species-specific primers and probes. This software is available at http://www.miprobe.com. Also detailed descriptions of how to use the program are found at this site.
