  • 정보 통신 기술의 발달로 엄청난 양의 정보가 World Wide Web을 통해 저장되고 공유된다. 특히, 사용자가 WWW을 이용하여 필요한 정보를 얻고자할 때, 가장 많이 사용되는 것이 Web search engine이다. 그러나 Web search engine의 algorithm 자체의 부정확성과 악의적으로 작성된 Web page로 인해 search engine 결과가 사용자의 요구와 일치하지 못하는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 여러 Web search algorithm 중에서 Web structure management 기법을 중심으로 문제점을 분석하고 이를 해결할 수 있는 수정된 algorithm을 제시한다. 마지막으로 제시된 algorithm이 spamming page를 filtering하는 과정을 예시하여 논증한다.

  • Web-based learning is currently an active area of research and a considerable number of studies have been conducted on its application in the learning environment. However, in spite of many advances in the research and development of the educational contents, questions about how the environment affects learning remains largely unanswered. In this article, we propose a Web-based learning environment to improve the educational effect. The goal of this article is not to provide a complete system to support Web-based learning but rather to describe some meaningful strategies and fundamental design concepts that utilize information technologies to support teaching and learning.

  • This paper introduces the concept of Tangible Shopping conducting in virtual world. The main idea of this paper is to combine the concept of web 2.0 mashup into shopping activities in virtual world. Feature of annotation and web browsing are also included in this concept. This research aims to enhance web shopping activities from the conventional approach into new way which deliver tangible shopping experiences to users. At the beginning, we review the state-of-the-art of virtual worlds and Web 2.0 Mashup. Next, we review our related work. Then, we address the design and implementation of tangible shopping in virtual worlds.

  • As the interest in internet business increases, effective web site evaluation is in order. While web site evaluation is supposed to be based on feasible applicability and trust-worthy criteria. many researches on web site evaluation fails to rover the various business models and consider corporate-activity-related features. Besides, dealing with the limited aspects such as design and cognitive science is something to be desired on the previous researches. Therefore, This paper presents internet web site evaluation framework not only based on existing researches and analysis but also reflecting corporate strategies. The framework includes web sites contents, design, operation and management-related factors, and it is applied to companies to validate its applicability.

  • As the state of the art for handling multimedia on the internet is developed a new system called WebCAM which services video and image came out. However, WebMIC site for audio services are still rare. In this work, we developed a WebMIC system which enables anyone to listen audio in real-time through the internet. WebMIC system is implemented by connecting a server with a microphone and the recorded audio files are stored in a Database system. Because the microphones can be distributed sporadically, the developed system can be utilized for managing and advertizing a location. It also can be used to reduce the cost for the existing management system which is almost met by personnel expenses. Anyone who can connect to the internet can get this WebMIC service, so this system can produce a good effect if used in advertising any tourist resort.

Toward a Structural and Semantic Metadata Framework for Efficient Browsing and Searching of Web Videos

  • This study proposed a structural and semantic framework for the characterization of events and segments in Web videos that permits content-based searches and dynamic video summarization. Although MPEG-7 supports multimedia structural and semantic descriptions, it is not currently suitable for describing multimedia content on the Web. Thus, the proposed metadata framework that was designed considering Web environments provides a thorough yet simple way to describe Web video contents. Precisely, the metadata framework was constructed on the basis of Chatman's narrative theory, three multimedia metadata formats (PBCore, MPEG-7, and TV-Anytime), and social metadata. It consists of event information, eventGroup information, segment information, and video (program) information. This study also discusses how to automatically extract metadata elements including structural and semantic metadata elements from Web videos.

An Improved Approach to Ranking Web Documents

  • Ranking thousands of web documents so that they are matched in response to a user query is really a challenging task. For this purpose, search engines use different ranking mechanisms on apparently related resultant web documents to decide the order in which documents should be displayed. Existing ranking mechanisms decide on the order of a web page based on the amount and popularity of the links pointed to and emerging from it. Sometime search engines result in placing less relevant documents in the top positions in response to a user query. There is a strong need to improve the ranking strategy. In this paper, a novel ranking mechanism is being proposed to rank the web documents that consider both the HTML structure of a page and the contextual senses of keywords that are present within it and its back-links. The approach has been tested on data sets of URLs and on their back-links in relation to different topics. The experimental result shows that the overall search results, in response to user queries, are improved. The ordering of the links that have been obtained is compared with the ordering that has been done by using the page rank score. The results obtained thereafter shows that the proposed mechanism contextually puts more related web pages in the top order, as compared to the page rank score.

과학기술분야 웹 정보원 평가 및 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Web Information Resources on Science & Technology)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 과학기술분야 웹 정보원의 평가기준을 제시하고 평가 기준간의 관계를 규명하는 것이다. 웹 정보원 평가 카테고리로서 정보 콘텐츠, 기능성, 그리고 디자인 둥 세 가지가 제시되었다. 정보콘텐츠는 권위성, 적합성, 최신성을, 기능성은 탐색성, 네비게이션, 이용자 지원성을, 그리고 디자인은 구조 및 외양 등의 평가 요소를 포함한다. 제시된 평가 기준에 근거하여 과학기술 주제분야별로 총50개 웹 정보원을 평가한 결과, 전기·전자공학분야의 웹 정보원이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 평가 기준간의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 정보 콘텐츠와 기능성은 음의 관계를 가진 반면에 기능성과 디자인은 비교적 높은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

공공도서관 모바일 웹 서비스 접근성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of the Mobile Web Accessibility of Public Library Services)

  • 이 연구에서는 모바일 웹 서비스를 제공하는 공공도서관을 대상으로 국제 웹 표준 기구 W3C에서 만든 웹 접근성 평가도구인 모바일OK 검사를 실시하여 공공도서관 모바일 웹 서비스의 웹 접근성을 평가하였다. 모바일OK 검사 실시가 가능한 81개 공공도서관에 대해 모바일OK 검사를 실시하고 W3C에서 제정한 모바일 웹 모범사례를 바탕으로 이를 분석하였다. 분석된 결과를 바탕으로 공공도서관 모바일 웹 서비스 확대 및 개선을 위하여 지방자치단체와 지방교육청의 정책적 지원, 웹 표준에 맞는 모바일 웹 서비스 설계, 웹 설계 과정에서 유해요소 제거, 가벼운 모바일 웹 문서 제작, 분산되어 연결된 여러 개별 파일들의 합병 등의 방안을 제시하였다.
