  • According to the statistics of SecurityFocus in 2008, client-side attacks through the Microsoft Internet Explorer have increased by more than 50%. In this paper, we have implemented a behavior-based malicious web page detection system and a blacklist-based malicious web page filtering system. To do this, we first efficiently collected the target URLs by constructing a crawling system. The malicious URL detection system, run on a specific server, visits and renders actively the collected web pages under virtual machine environment. To detect whether each web page is malicious or not, the system state changes of the virtual machine are checked after rendering the page. If abnormal state changes are detected, we conclude the rendered web page is malicious, and insert it into the blacklist of malicious web pages. The malicious URL filtering system, run on the web client machine, filters malicious web pages based on the blacklist when a user visits web sites. We have enhanced system performance by automatically handling message boxes at the time of ULR analysis on the detection system. Experimental results show that the game sites contain up to three times more malicious pages than the other sites, and many attacks incur a file creation and a registry key modification.

  • DDoS attacks have became as a social threat since 2009 7.7 DDoS turmoil. Even though defence techniques have been developing to provide against those threats, they become much more sophisticate. In recent years, the attack form of DDoS is changing from high amount of traffic attack of network layers to highly sophisticate small amount of application layers. To make matters worse, attack agent for the attack has became very intelligent so that it is difficult to be blocked since it can't be distinguished from normal PCs. In the user authentication system(such as CAPTCHA) User intervention is required to distinguish normal PCs and intelligent attack agents and in particular, in a NAT environment, IP-based blocking method can be cut off the normal users traffic at the same time. This research examined defense techniques which are able to distinguish between agent and normal PC and effectively block ways the HTTP DDoS offense applying one-time session key based authentication method using Cookie which is used in HTTP protocol to protect web sever from sophisticate application layer of DDoS.

  • One of the OSI 7 Layer DDoS Attack, HTTP POST DDoS can deny legitimate service by web server resource depletion. This Attack can be executed with less network traffic and legitimate TCP connections. Therefore, It is difficult to distinguish DDoS traffic from legitimate users. In this paper, I propose an anomaly HTTP POST traffic detection algorithm and http each page Content-Length field size limit with defense method for HTTP POST DDoS attack. Proposed method showed the result of detection and countermeasure without false negative and positive to use the r-u-dead-yet of HTTP POST DDoS attack tool and the self-developed attack tool.

  • As modem web services become enormously complex, web attacks has become frequent and serious. Existing security solutions such as firewalls or signature-based intrusion detection systems are generally inadequate in securing web services, and analysis of raw web log data is simply impractical for most organizations. Visual display of "interpreted" web logs, with emphasis on anomalous web requests, is essential for an organization to efficiently track web usage patterns and detect possible web attacks. In this paper, we discuss various issues related to effective real-time visualization of web usage patterns and anomalies. We implemented a software tool named SAD (session anomaly detection) Viewer to satisfy such need and conducted an empirical study in which anomalous web traffics such as Misuse attacks, DoS attacks, Code-Red worms and Whisker scans were injected. Our study confirms that SAD Viewer is useful in assisting web security engineers to monitor web usage patterns in general and anomalous web sessions in particular.articular.

  • Task environment for enterprises and public institutions are moving into cyberspace-based environment and structing the LTE wireless network. The applications "App" operated in the LTE wireless network are mostly being developed with Android-based. But Android-based malwares are surging and they are the potential DDoS attacks. DDoS attack is a major information security threat and a means of cyber attacks. DDoS attacks are difficult to detect in advance and to defense effectively. To this end, a DMZ is set up in front of a network infrastructure and a particular server for defensive information security. Because There is the proliferation of mobile devices and apps, and the activation of android diversify DDoS attack methods. a DMZ is a limit to detect and to protect against DDoS attacks. This paper proposes an information security method to detect and Protect DDoS attacks from the terminal phase using a Preemptive military strategy concept. and then DDoS attack detection and protection app is implemented and proved its effectiveness by reducing web service request and memory usage. DDoS attack detection and protecting will ensure the efficiency of the mobile network resources. This method is necessary for a continuous usage of a wireless network environment for the national security and disaster control.

  • A buffer overflow attack is carried out to subvert privileged program functions to gain control of the program and thus control the host. Buffer overflow attacks should be prevented by risk managers by eradicating and detecting them before the software is utilized. While calculating the size, correct variables should be chosen by risk managers in situations where fixed-length buffers are being used to avoid placing excess data that leads to the creation of an overflow. Metamorphism can also be used as it is capable of protecting data by attaining a reasonable resistance level [1]. In addition, risk management teams should ensure they access the latest updates for their application server products that support the internet infrastructure and the recent bug reports [2]. Scanners that can detect buffer overflows' flaws in their custom web applications and server products should be used by risk management teams to scan their websites. This paper presents an experiment of buffer overflow vulnerability and attack. The aims to study of a buffer overflow mechanism, types, and countermeasures. In addition, to comprehend the current detection plus prevention approaches that can be executed to prevent future attacks or mitigate the impacts of similar attacks.

  • Recently, web server hacking is trending toward web application hacking which uses comparatively vulnerable web applications based on open sources. And, it is possible to hack databases using web interfaces because web servers are usually connected databases. Web application attacks use vulnerabilities not in web server itself, but in web application structure, logical error and code error. It is difficult to defend web applications from various attacks by only using pattern matching detection method and code modification. In this paper, we propose a method to secure the web applications based on profiling which can detect and filter out abnormal web application requests.

  • Detecting web attacks is a major challenge, and it is observed that the use of simple models leads to low sensitivity or high false positive problems. In this study, we aim to develop a robust two-stage deep learning based stacked ensemble web application firewall. Normal and abnormal classification is carried out in the first stage of the proposed WAF model. The classification process of the types of abnormal traffics is postponed to the second stage and carried out using an integrated stacked ensemble model. By this way, clients' requests can be served without time delay, and attack types can be detected with high sensitivity. In addition to the high accuracy of the proposed model, by using the statistical similarity and diversity analyses in the study, high generalization for the ensemble model is achieved. Within the study, a comprehensive, up-to-date, and robust multi-class web anomaly dataset named GAZI-HTTP is created in accordance with the real-world situations. The performance of the proposed WAF model is compared to state-of-the-art deep learning models and previous studies using the benchmark dataset. The proposed two-stage model achieved multi-class detection rates of 97.43% and 94.77% for GAZI-HTTP and ECML-PKDD, respectively.

  • The Recently, most of Internet attacks are zero-day types of the unknown attacks by Malware. Using already known Misuse Detection Technology is hard to cope with these attacks. Also, the existing information security technology reached the limits because of various attack's patterns over the Internet, as web based service became more affordable, web service exposed to the internet becomes main target of attack. This paper classifies the traffic type over the internet and suggests the Threat Management System(TMS) including the anomaly intrusion detection technologies which can detect and analyze the anomaly sign for each traffic type.

  • Single Sign-On is an authentication scheme that enables a user to authenticate once and then to access to the resources of multiple software systems without re-authentication. As web services are being integrated into a single groupware, more web sites are adopting for user convenience. However, these Single Sign-On services are very dependent upon the cookies and thus, simple eavesdropping enables attackers to hiject the user's session. Even worse, the attacker who hijacked one session can move to another site through the Single Sign-On. In this paper, we show the vulnerabilities of the top ranked sites regarding this point of view and also propose a way to protect a user's session.
