  • Since the DoS(Denial of Service) attack is still an important vulnerable element in many web service sites, sites including public institution should try their best in constructing defensive systems. Recently, DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) has been raised by prompting mass network traffic that uses NTP's monlist function or DoS attack has been made related to the DNS infrastructure which is impossible for direct defense. For instance, in June 2013, there has been an outbreak of an infringement accident where Computing and Information Agency was the target. There was a DNS application DoS attack which made the public institution's Information System impossible to run its normal services. Like this, since there is a high possibility in having an extensive damage due to the characteristics of DDoS in attacking unspecific information service and not being limited to a particular information system, efforts have to be made in order to minimize cyber threats. This thesis proposes a method for using TTL (Time To Live) value in IP header to detect DDoS attack with IP spoofing, which occurs when data is transmitted under the agreed regulation between the international and domestic information system.

  • In this thesis, we will break away from the classic DDoS response system for large-scale denial-of-service attacks that develop day by day, and effectively endure intelligent denial-of-service attacks by utilizing artificial intelligence-based technology, one of the core technologies of the 4th revolution. A possible service model development plan was proposed. That is, a method to detect denial of service attacks and minimize damage through machine learning artificial intelligence learning targeting a large amount of data collected from multiple security devices and web servers was proposed. In particular, the development of a model for using artificial intelligence technology is to detect a Western service attack by focusing on the fact that when a service denial attack occurs while repeating a certain traffic change and transmitting data in a stable flow, a different pattern of data flow is shown. Artificial intelligence technology was used. When a denial of service attack occurs, a deviation between the probability-based actual traffic and the predicted value occurs, so it is possible to respond by judging as aggressiveness data. In this paper, a service denial attack detection model was explained by analyzing data based on logs generated from security equipment or servers.

  • In recent years, advanced persistent threat (APT) attack organizations have exploited various vulnerabilities and attack techniques to target companies and institutions with national core technologies, distributing ransomware and demanding payment, stealing nationally important industrial secrets and distributing them on the black market (dark web), selling them to third countries, or using them to close the technology gap, requiring national-level security preparations. In this paper, we analyze the attack methods of attack organizations such as Kimsuky and Lazarus that caused industrial secrets leakage damage through APT attacks in Korea using the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and derive 26 cybersecurity-related administrative, physical, and technical security requirements that a company's security system should be equipped with. We also proposed a security framework and system configuration plan to utilize the security requirements in actual field. The security requirements presented in this paper provide practical methods and frameworks for security system developers and operators to utilize in security work to prevent leakage of corporate industrial secrets. In the future, it is necessary to analyze the advanced and intelligent attacks of various APT attack groups based on this paper and further research on related security measures.

  • Pharming attack is a confidence trick that the hacker catch away customers financial information on Internet banking. At first, a hacker installs malicious execution code on customers PC in secret. As a customer tries to connect a Internet banking Web site, the malicious code changes it to phishing site in Internet explorer. The hacker catch away customers financial information in process of internet banking. The hacker steals money from customer's bank account using stolen information. PKI is a widespread and strong technology for providing the security using public key techniques. The main idea of PKI is the digital certificate that is a digitally signed statement binding an user's identity information and his public key. The Internet banking service stands on the basis of PKI. However, the bank is trusted in natural, the only customer is certified in the present Internet banking. In this paper, we propose a method of cross certification in Internet banking. The customer certify a bank and the bank certify the customer in proposed method. The method can service to customer the secure Internet banking about pharming attack. We compare the proposed method with other methods.

  • In this paper proposed automated attack reaction tool based on IPv6. Currently, much researches are performing focused on application program and standardization for IPv6. But, It is not enough for future IPv6 security. The proposed method detect attacks on IPv6 and conventional IPv4, therefore it is possible to protect personal information using automated reaction method. Usually, IDS just perform detection, therefore damages may be repeated. However, this paper considered the problems described above, and suggested solution for this problems. The proposed algorithm suggested in this paper is simulated on IPv6 network based on Linux. As a simulation result, it is proved that proposed algorithm can detect attacks efficiently.

  • Recently, the leakage of confidential information and personal information is taking place on the Internet more frequently than ever before. Most of such online security incidents are caused by attacks on vulnerabilities in web applications developed carelessly. It is impossible to detect an attack on a web application with existing firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Besides, the signature-based detection has a limited capability in detecting new threats. Therefore, many researches concerning the method to detect attacks on web applications are employing anomaly-based detection methods that use the web traffic analysis. Much research about anomaly-based detection through the normal web traffic analysis focus on three problems - the method to accurately analyze given web traffic, system performance needed for inspecting application payload of the packet required to detect attack on application layer and the maintenance and costs of lots of network security devices newly installed. The UTM(Unified Threat Management) system, a suggested solution for the problem, had a goal of resolving all of security problems at a time, but is not being widely used due to its low efficiency and high costs. Besides, the web filter that performs one of the functions of the UTM system, can not adequately detect a variety of recent sophisticated attacks on web applications. In order to resolve such problems, studies are being carried out on the web application firewall to introduce a new network security system. As such studies focus on speeding up packet processing by depending on high-priced hardware, the costs to deploy a web application firewall are rising. In addition, the current anomaly-based detection technologies that do not take into account the characteristics of the web application is causing lots of false positives and false negatives. In order to reduce false positives and false negatives, this study suggested a realtime anomaly detection method based on the analysis of the length of parameter value contained in the web client's request. In addition, it designed and suggested a WAF(Web Application Firewall) that can be applied to a low-priced system or legacy system to process application data without the help of an exclusive hardware. Furthermore, it suggested a method to resolve sluggish performance attributed to copying packets into application area for application data processing, Consequently, this study provide to deploy an effective web application firewall at a low cost at the moment when the deployment of an additional security system was considered burdened due to lots of network security systems currently used.

  • A hierarchical Web Security System, which is a solution to various web-based attacks, seemingly is not able to keep up with the improvement of detoured or compound attacks. In this paper, we suggest an efficient detecting scheme for web-based attacks like Malware, XSS, Creating Webshell, URL Spoofing, and Exposing Private Information through monitoring HTTP outbound traffics in real time. Our proposed scheme detects web-based attacks by comparing the outbound traffics with the signatures of HTML tag or Javascript created by the attacks. Through the verification analysis under the real-attacked environment, we show that our scheme installed in a hierarchical web security system has superior detection capability for detoured web-based attacks.

  • This paper presents the analytic model of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks in two settings: the normal Web server without any attack and the Web server with DDoS attacks. In these settings, we measure TCP flag rate, which is expressed in terms of the ratio of the number of TCP flags, i.e., SYN, ACK, RST, etc., packets over the total number of TCP packets, and Protocol rate, which is defined by the ratio of the number of TCP (UDP or ICMP) packets over the total number of W packets. The experimental results show a distinctive and predictive pattern of DDoS attacks. We wish our approach can be used to detect and prevent DDoS attacks.

  • Malicious file upload attacks mean that the attacker to upload or transfer files of dangerous types that can be automatically processed within the web server's environment. Uploaded file content can include exploits, malware and malicious scripts. An attacker can user malicious content to manipulate the application behavior. As a method of detecting a malicious file upload attack, it is generally used to find a file type by detecting a file extension or a signature of the file. However, this type of file type detection has the disadvantage that it can not detect files that are not encoded with a specific program, such as PHP files. Therefore, in this paper, research was conducted on how to detect and block any program by using essential commands or variable names used in the corresponding program when writing a specific program. The performance evaluation results show that it detected specific files effectively using the suggested method.
