  • We surveyed 223 road workers between 2017 July-August about wearing and satisfaction in order to find basic data to develop safety clothing that enhances visibility of motion and comfort while meeting international standards. It was found that most of the current warning clothing owned by road cleaners and about 2/3 of policemen clothes were provided by public institutions. The purpose of wearing, color, properties, satisfaction and protectiveness differed significantly by occupation. Second, the most popular response for the type and quantity of warning clothing was 2 sets of spring/autumn, summer, and winter type for road cleaners, whereas policemen chose 2 sets of all types plus a safety vest. Therefore, a top-level (3rd class) warning clothing study is required. Third, satisfaction ranked Moderate>Good>Poor; in addition, the main reason for satisfaction was that 'retroreflective tape increases safety at night (54.4%)' for road cleaners and 'the fluorescent color stands out (43.7%)' for policemen. Thus, it was accepted that visibility contributed to safety. Fourth, body-protectiveness was evaluated higher compared to wearing satisfaction, and it was recognized more by road cleaners than policemen. Overall satisfaction was higher for road cleaners versus policemen both in Seoul than Incheon. Fifth, the main dissatisfaction in both groups was 'low sweat absorbency' showing improving the air permeability, moisture regain and permeability was the highest priority. Finally, those working 8 hours a day tended to evaluate more positively the 6 properties of the material.

  • This study was performed to analyze the wearing practice and the purchasing characteristics of jeans in order to offer basic data to produce superior jeans made of denim with small flexibility and to improve the wearing comfort. The questionnaire were 236 Korean women from the age of 10th to 50th. For data analysis, descriptive analysis and crosstabs were used. The results were as follows, in the purchasing characteristics, when the women of 10th to 30th decided to purchase jeans they considered fashion, design and price rather than wearing comfort. But the women of 40th to 50th considered that wearing comfort is the most important factor. The 10th is found the best preferred jean is wide straight style, the 20th is straight style, the 30th is boots cut style and the 40th to 50th is straight style. In wearing practice, there was a difference among age groups on the region that felt uncomfortable when wearing jeans. As the age increases, the abdomen size also increases. Most people answered that they mend jeans after purchase for length, without any relation with age. The reason why consumers prefer jeans with middle length between the crotch and waist and also purchase jeans with a short length is because they look refined and neat. This informs us that the short length between the crotch and waist does not match with ease and comfort, which are the images of jeans in the past. Recently premium jean brands are competing to show Low Rise Jeans, which seems like a Premium Jean=Low Rise Jean formula is created. Some manufacture companies are recklessly copying foreign designs that does not fit Korean's body shape. However, as mentioned in this study results, there is a clear difference between designs that they think consider as aesthetic and functional. Therefore, it is considered necessary for developing designs for jeans that can satisfy both aesthetic appreciation and functions for Korean consumer's body shape and each age group.

A total of 69 studies on medical attire were categorized and analyzed for the study subject, study method, and study locations. As per the time period, until the mid-80s, almost no research on medical attire was conducted; however, the number has increased as of late. The distribution by subject was in the order of status investigation, design development, material research, textile design, and sizing system, and especially there was significant focus on wearing status and design development that has rapidly increased over the last 10 years. The distribution by target was in the order of adult patients, elderly patients, doctors, nurses, and juvenile patients. There are many studies on the wearing status and design development of adult patient attire as well as on the textile design and sizing system study for doctor's attire. The distribution by study method was in the order of survey and interview, research and development, dressing evaluation, real resources analysis, and physical property experiments. Through the results of the analysis on the study subject and target, it was found that the wearing status investigation for adult patient attire through a survey and interview was most active. The distribution by study location was in the order of Seoul, Incheon - Gyeonggi, Busan - Ulsan - Gyeongnam, and suggested that a study on patient attire in Dajeon - Chungcheong and Jeonbuk was inadequate.

Pepople in 60s living in a town perferred to wearing bifocal lens, but people of 50~60s preferred to single vision lenses. However, none of people living in a city who is diagnosed as presbyopia had refractive error correction device, and no one used bifical lenses. The progressive lens was mostly used in the people of 40~50s and using rate of those lenses reduced with the age; and single vision lens had the highest rate of in the 40~50s but no one wore it in the 70s. Conclusions: Among the refractive error correction devices, the progressive lens was most widely worn by presbyopia group who is living in a town or a city. In particular, the refractive error correction devices were most preferred in 40~50s of early presbyopia.
