  • The future information technologies and service paradigm will move from PC, the general purpose desktop computing environment, to the next-generation PC that provides information any where, any time, and any device. The next-generation PC such as wearable computers are specialized to the human-centric functionalities and always-on connected services. In this study, service infrastructure of wearable computing with WBAN(Wearable Body Area Network) was suggested for the ubiquitous computing environment.

  • Nowadays, technologies such as RFID, sensor network makes our life comfortable more and more. In this paper we propose a wearable computing system for blind and deaf person who can be easily out of sight from our technology. We are making a wearable computing system that is consisted of embedded board to processing data, ultrasonic sensors to get distance data and motors that make vibration as a signal to see the screen for a deaf person. This system offers environmental informations by text and voice. For example, distance data from a obstacle to a person are calculated by data compounding module using sensed ultrasonic reflection time. This data is converted to text or voice by main processing module, and are serviced to a handicapped person. Furthermore we will extend this system using a voice recognition module and text to voice convertor module to help communication among the blind and deaf persons.

  • In this paper we propose wear-UCAM, which is a toolkit for context-aware application model in wearable computing. As the rapid developments of mobile technologies and relevant technologies, the interests in wearable computer also become indispensible in both academic and industrial fields. However, there are few research activities on the application framework or toolkit for wearable computing. Hence, we suggest wear-UCAM as the development toolkit for wearable computing applications, where we focus on how to collect relevant user context, manage it, and provide services based on the recognized context. The proposed wear-UCAM includes the abstraction of context processing as well as independence among sensors and services with other components. For the sake of rapid prototyping of the proposed toolkit, we utilize PDA with wireless LAN as a wearable computer. The detail explanation of the implementation and its discussion are presented in this paper.

  • The previous wearable computing researches have been taken the deficiency of global view about ubiquitous integration. They have approached the skewed directions and approaches for the wearable ubiquitous computing. Therefore we propose a more advanced global architecture model and a general service cycle. This paper firstly proposes an architecture design of computing life cycles in digital garment environments. Then it also provides the process cycles for supporting general services in digital garment applications. Finally, we present the important design consideration issues for implementing a digital garment system.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand how wearable computing devices are designed and how to design them in a technology based wearable device design research. Research is premised on the consideration of producers and consumers. There is wearable computer of eyeglasses, watches, clothes, and so on. The user can always wear these products comfort and use as part of the body without any sense of discomfort, and the goal is to supplement or double the ability of the human being. It should be easy to use them convenient, wear comfortable, safe and sociable at any time. For the satisfaction these conditions, the wearable computing devices have several factors. There are technical performances, visual aesthetics, Human body system and devices communication and safety. Furthermore, these factors have to match to operating system, real-time operating system and applied software. To comprehend wearable computing devices should be offered the design of the both software and hardware designed.

  • The wearable computer that can understand the context of human life and intelligently communicate with various electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment would be very useful as an assistant for humans. In this paper we introduce an intelligent wearable assistance suite. The proposed wearable suite can interact with both humans and electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment. The developed system can sense the interactive electronic media that a user wants to use and also communicate with it. By utilizing these interaction capabilities, it intermediates between each media and the user and offers a friendlier interface to the user who wears this system. We also show the usages of the proposed system by demonstrating its interaction with the interactive electronic media in ubiquitous computing environment.

  • Input devices of wearable computer are difficult to use, so a lot of alternative pointing devices have been considered in recent years. In order to resolve this problem, this paper proposed a dynamic gain control method which is able to improve the performance of wearable pointing device and showed an experimental result comparing this method with conventional method. Also the effects of methods were compared in terms of device (wearable and desktop). The result of calculating throughputs(index of performance) by Fitts' law showed that the pointing performance in dynamic gain condition was improved 1.4 times more than normal gain.

  • Recently, the wearable computing technology with bio-sensors has been rapidly developed and utilized in various areas such as personal health, care-giving for senior citizens who live alone, and sports activities. In particular, the wearable computing equipment to measure vital signs by means of digital yarns and bio sensors is noticeable. The wearable computing devices help users monitor and manage their health in their daily lives through the customized healthcare service. In this paper, we suggest a system for monitoring and analyzing vital signs utilizing smart healthcare clothing with bio-sensors. Vital signs that can be continuously acquired from the clothing is well-known as unstructured data. The amount of data is huge, and they are perceived as the big data. Vital sings are stored by Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS), and one can build data warehouse for analyzing them in HDFS. We provide health monitoring system based on vital sings that are acquired by biosensors in smart healthcare clothing. We implemented a big data platform which provides health monitoring service to visualize and monitor clinical information and physical activities performed by the users.
