표면 개질화된 탄소나노튜브 강화 고분자 복합재료의 마모 특성 (Tribological Property of Surface Modified Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composites)

  • Various carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are added into the epoxy matrix as reinforcements to investigate the effect on the wear behavior. Effects to the tribological properties of different loading concentrations and types of surface modification are investigated by using a linear reciprocal wear tester. As increasing the concentration of CNTs shows the reduction of the wear loss. Moreover, surface modified CNTs give better tribological property than as produced CNTs. It is due that the functional groups on the surface of CNTs increase the interfacial bonding between CNTs and epoxy matrix through chemical bonding. Changes in worn surface morphology are observed by optical microscope and SEM to investigate the wear behavior. CNTs in the epoxy matrix near the surface are exposed and it becomes the lubricating working film on the worn surface. It reduces the friction and results in the lower surface roughness morphology in the epoxy matrix as increasing the contents of the CNTs.

  • In order to determine the wear properties of AIP (Arc Ion Plating) deposition, wear process was evaluated by using a Falex test machine. Also, in order to determine the effects of coating material on the wear process, TiC, TiN, and TiCN coatings of thickness about 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$∼6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ coated by Arc ion plating deposition method were tested. The wear property was determined under a dry sliding condition as a function of the applied load, sliding distance, sliding velocity and temperature. The results show that when wear of the coating-layer occurred, specific wear amount increased with the wear rate. At initial state, the wear rate rapidly increased, but it gradually reduced as the velocity increased. Also, when raising the temperature, the wear rate increased in the order of TiCN, TiN and TiC due to the frictional heat.

  • The Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is exclusivity used as the articulation component with metal or ceramic materials in artificial joint prosthesis because of its good mechanical properties. In the long term however, wear of UHMWPE causes complex problems and hence causes loosening of He prosthesis. In this study, we tried to enhance the wear property of UHMWPE by attaching a hydrophilic graft on the UHMWPE surface and by improving surface hardness without deteriorating the mechanical properties of UHMWPE. This was achieved by ion implantation and by ${\gamma}$-irradiation to the surface in acrylic acid solution and by photo-polymerization in divinylbenzen (DVB), diallysophthalate (DAIP) solution. The wear test was performed by a wear testing machine of ball-on-disk type devised by the authors. The UHMWPE with hydrophlic surface and increased surface hardness developed by above treatments showed less volumetric wear.

과공정 Al-Si 합금의 내마모성 연구 (A Study on the Wear Resistant Property in Hyper-eutectic Al-Si Alloy)

  • The wear resistance of Hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloy, have recently been noticed as a new automobile material, was investigated. For the purpose of developing wear resistant Al-Si alloy, some factors which attribute to wear resistance are examined as follows; refinement of primary Si particle during solidification, and effect of refinement on wear resistance and other mechanical properties. The most effective refinement was accomplished by adding both NaF and S, and this improve wear-resistance in abrasive wear type. The wear losses of specimens cast in metal mold were ruduced to 80% of those in sand mold. T6 heat treatment increases hardness, which resulted in reduction of wear loss about $3{\sim}18%$.

Friction and Wear of Nano-Sized Silica Filled Epoxy Composites

  • The wear behavior of epoxy matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles is discussed in this paper. Especially, the variation of the coefficient of friction and the specific wear rate under the various applied load and sliding velocity were investigated for these materials. Wear tests of pin-on-disc mode were carried out and followed by scanning electron microscope observations. The presence of silica filler in epoxy composites was demonstrated significant influence on the friction and wear behavior of epoxy nanocomposites. With the incorporation of silica filler into the epoxy matrix, reduction of the coefficient of friction and specific wear rate were identified. Wear mechanism was discussed by analyzing the worn surface by scanning electron microscope as well.

  • 본 연구에서는 상이한 방법을 통하여 제조된 초고분자량 폴리에틸렌 (ultra high molecular polyethylene, UHMWPE)/카올린 복합재료의 마모 특성에 대하여 살펴보았다. 카올린 입자는 중합충전(in-situ polymerization)법과 분말 혼합법의 두 가지 상이한 방법을 통하 UHMWPE와 복합화되었으며 특히 분말 혼합법에서는 입자상으로 구성된 두 재료의 혼합 방법에 따른 입자 분산 및 마모 특성에 대하여 분석하였다. 제조된 복합재료의 마모실험에서 입자 충전에 의하여 내마모성이 크게 향상되었는데 연삭마모가 지배적인 마모기구였으며, 중합충전법이 내마모성 향상에 있어서 분말혼합법에 비하여 효과적이었다. 또한 충전된 입자의 분산 상태와 계면 특성이 내마모성 향상에 중요한 변수임을 확인할 수 있었다.

첨단복합방식재를 이용한 각종 선박구조물의 마찰마모손상의 최소화 (Minimization of Friction and Wear Damage of Marine Structures by Using the Advanced Anti-corrosive Composite Materials)

  • The marine structures with sea water cooling system always expose to the oceanic atmosphere. Therefore, the protection of the equipments is very important. To investigate the effectiveness of advanced composite materials for the application in offshore environments, the tensile test, hardness test, undercutting property test, permeance test and the friction and wear test were carried out by using various applicable coating materials. The main results obtained can be summarized as follows; 1. The micro-hardness of the Archcoat 502B showed the highest value. 2. The coefficient of friction of the Rigspray coating at the speed of 2.21m/sec showed the lowest value, and that of the Archcoat 502B coating at 1.08m/sec and 0.18m/sec indicated the lowest values. 3. The wear mass at the speed of 0.18m/sec and 1.08m/sec in dry condition showed the smallest values. 4. The Archcoat 502B coating is fitted to the dynamic instruments in the range of low speed and middle speed. Rigspray coating is fitted to the dynamic instruments in the range of high speed. 5. The wear mass of five kinds of coating materials at the range of low speed was very small, and those of the Archcoat S02B, Archcoat 402B and Rigspray coating at high speed range were quitely smaller than those of the Modified Epoxy and Tar Epoxy.

  • Until now, there is a tendency of most textile research focused on the certain specific area of textiles in profound. This paper based on the case study of inspection of manufacturing men's formal wear has been investigated in the relationship between defection of men's formal wear and mechanical properties of textile for fall and winter. As a results of implementing Pearson's Correlation, density, blend rate, bending property, the rate of silk blend, the formality of sewing are correlated with defection of men's formal wear. However, it is required the defection of classification standard in various types of the finished product in a further study. In addition to increase efficiency of production in the manufacture, it is necessary for scholars to investigate the direction of research according to the contingency approach based on the systems approach.

질소이온 주입이 생체적합성 티타늄 임플란트의 마모특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Nitrogen Ion Implantation on Wear Behavior of Biocompatible Ti Implant)

  • Since the concept of osseointegration was introduced, titanium and titanium-based alloy materials have been increasingly used for bone-anchored metal in oralmaxillofacial and orthopedic reconstruction. Successful osseointegration has been attributed to biocompatibility and surface condition of metal implant among other factors. Although titanium and titanium alloys have an excellent over the metal ion release and biocompatibility, considerable controversy has developed over the metal ion and wear debris in vivo and vitro. In this study, nitrogen ion implantation technique was used to improve the corrosion resistance and wear property of titanium materials, ultimately to enhance the tissue reaction to titanium implants As ion implantation energy was increased, projected range of nitrogen ion the Ti substrate was gradually increased. Under condition of constant ion energy. atomic concentration of nitrogen was also increased with ion doses. The friction in Hank's solution was increased with ion doses. The friction coefficient of ion implanted specimens in HanK's solution was increased from 0.39, 0.47 to 0.52, 0.65 respectively under high energy and ion dose conditions. As increasing ion energies and ion dose, amount of wear was reduced.
