Determination of a Weak Exchange Interaction in Magnetically Coupled Cluster System by EPR Singlet-Triplet Transition Lines

  • Exchange-coupled cluster of transition-metal ions are relevant to many different scientific areas, ranging from chemistry to solid-state physics, biology, material science and has been the subject of much research in recent years(1,2). Single crystal EPR spectroscopy works as a very effective tool for the measurement of J values for small exchange interactions. This makes EPR technique very suitable for detection of weak exchange coupling transmitted over long distances via extended atomic and melecular bridges. Large polyoxometallates (3) may provide ideal structural environments for the study of interactions between paramagnetic ions. The detailed nature of magnetic interaction (positive sign and magnitude of J~0.006 $cm^{-1}$ /) was clearly determined for di-copper(II) system by single crystal EPR spectroscopy (4). The single-triplet (S-T) transitions are forbidden by different symmetries of the wave functions. However, when the singlet ground state is mixed into triplet states, the S-T transitions can be allowed and observed as weak lines. These weak S-T lines are positioned symmetrically with respect to the main transitions in the distance equals to 2J from the center of the spectrum. This lines allow one to determine the J-value with very high accuracy when │J│ < hv 0.32 $cm^{-1}$ /. Unfortunately, the S-T transitions in the single crystal were detected by EPR method only in a few complexes until now. We have measured single-triplet transition lines for several magnetically coupled cluster systems and determined their J values accurately. The temperature dependency of J was studied by monitoring the changes in S-T.

  • 램제트 엔진은 다른 공기흡입식 엔진에 비해 상대적으로 매우 긴 유로를 지니고 있음으로 인해 저주파 연소불안정에 취약한 단점을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 램제트 엔진에서 발생하는 연소 현상과 동일한 메카니즘을 모사할 수 있는 연료분사장치 및 V-gutter 형태의 화염안정화장치를 장착한 소형 연소기를 설계/제작하여, 램제트 연소기에서 발생할 수 있는 연소불안정 현상을 시현하였다. 이 연소기에서 발생한 연소불안정은 연소시스템의 음향학적인 공진 주파수와 유사하게 나타남을 확인하였으며, 이를 통해 thermo-acoustic coupling에 의한 전형적인 연소 불안정이 발생하였음을 확인할 수 있었다.

An Enhanced Power Sharing Strategy for Islanded Microgrids Considering Impedance Matching for Both Real and Reactive Power

  • There exists a strong coupling between real and reactive power owing to the complex impedances in droop based islanded microgrids (MGs). The existing virtual impedance methods consider improvements of the impedance matching for sharing of the voltage controlled power (VCP) (reactive power for Q-V droop, and real power for P-V droop), which yields a 1-DOF (degree of freedom) tunable virtual impedance. However, a weak impedance matching for sharing of the frequency controlled power (FCP) (real power for $P-{\omega}$ droop, and reactive power for $Q-{\omega}$ droop) may result in FCP overshoots and even oscillations during load transients. This in turn results in VCP oscillations due to the strong coupling. In this paper, a 2-DOF tunable adaptive virtual impedance method considering impedance matching for both real and reactive power (IM-PQ) is proposed to improve the power sharing performance of MGs. The dynamic response is promoted by suppressing the coupled power oscillations and power overshoots while realizing accurate power sharing. In addition, the proposed power sharing controller has a better parametric adaptability. The stability and dynamic performances are analyzed with a small-signal state-space model. Simulation and experimental results are presented to investigate the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • 팔면체형 철(Ⅱ)착물 $[Fe(DPGH)_2(NH_3)_2$]과 산소분자의 반응에서 생성된 산소화생성물, $[(DPGH)_2FeO_2Fe(DPGH)_2$]의 자기모멘트를 측정하였다. 산소화 생성물내의 철에 대한 자기모멘트는 $298^{\circ}K$에서 3.60 B.M (Bohr Magneton)이며 온도가 내려 감에따라 감소되어 $4.2^{\circ}K$에선 1.65 B.M의 값을 보여준다. 이상의 측정결과는 다음과 같이 설명될 수 있다. (1) 산소화생성물내의 두개의 철(Ⅲ)은 중간스핀상태(S=3/2)를 갖는다. (2) 분자내의 두개의 철(Ⅲ)은 서로 약한 반강자성 짝지음을 일으킨다. 짝지음 상수는 정도이다.

  • 항공 수하물과 항공화물 컨테이너 등의 관리에 활용되고 있는 RFID는 항공기 장착 부품의 부품관리로 그 이용이 시도되면서 항공기 정비이력관리 등 정비업무에도 활용되는 등 항공업무에 그 활용도가 확산이 되고 있다. 그러나 RFID 태그와 리더기의 사용시 무선주파수 에너지 방출로 항공기의 운항에 대한 안전성 문제가 대두되고 있다. RFID 장치의 작동으로 미약한 전자파이긴 하지만 자유공간으로 방사되어 운항중인 항공기 내부의 신호를 전송하는 배선에 유기될 경우 장애가 우려되는 것이다. 그러므로 필수장비와 치명장비로 분류되는 항공기 전자장비 및 시스템에 대한 장애 평가를 사전에 필수적으로 수행 하여야 RFID 장치의 사용으로 인한 안전문제를 해결해 나갈 수 있다.

Design of Supertall Structures with Connected Towers the Structural Solution to the Development of Sky Cities

  • Three cases of supertall connected structures are presented and each of them represents a quite style. The first case is a strong-connected structure. The coupling function of towers and connector contributes a lot to the structural stiffness and stability. Its special construction scheme had great impact on the construction quality and the structural safety, and must be accurately considered. For the second case which is a weak-connected structure, the influences of different connecting modes to the structural dynamic characteristic were explained. Then the combined bearings were proposed to achieve the design presume. In the third case which represents the multi-supported structures, the structural distinctive mechanical properties were discussed. For the structural state during construction process is quite different from that in final service condition, two construction procedures were simulated to get an optimal one. Although there are great challenges to designers, the advantages of the supertall connected buildings are obvious. Further work is needed in this area to adapt to the development of future cities.

위상절연체 소재 및 소자 기술 개발 동향 (Research Trend of Topological Insulator Materials and Devices)

  • Topological insulators (TIs) emerge as one of the most fascinating and amazing material in physics and electronics. TIs intrinsically possess both gapless conducting surface and insulating internal properties, instead of being only one property such as conducting, semiconducting, and insulating. The conducting surface state of TIs is the consequence of band inversion induced by strong spin-orbit coupling. Combined with broken inversion symmetry, the surface electronic band structure consists of spin helical Dirac cone, which allows spin of carriers governed by the direction of its momentum, and prohibits backscattering of the carriers. It is called by topological surface states (TSS). In this paper, we investigated the TIs materials and their unique properties and denoted the fabrication method of TIs such as deposition and exfoliation techniques. Since it is hard to observe the TSS, we introduced several specialized analysis tools such as angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, spin-momentum locking, and weak antilocalization. Finally, we reviewed the various fields to utilize the unique properties of TIs and summarized research trends of their applications.

양 단면 반사율과 위상 조정 영역의 위상이 다중 영역 Index-Coupled DFB 레이저의 수율 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Reflectivity of Both Facets and the Phase of a Phase Tuning Section on the Yield Characteristics of a Multisection Index-Coupled DFB Laser)

  • 양 단면 반사율과 단면 회절격자 위상, 위상 조정 영역의 위상이 두 개의 DFB 영역과, 가운데 위상 조정 영역을 가진 다중 영역 Index-Coupled DFB 레이저의 Self-Pulsation동작 특성에 미치는 영향을 수율 관점에서 살펴보았다. 결합세기가 작을수록 양 단면 반사율이 증가할 때 양 단면과 다른 DFB 영역에서 반사되는 필드가 모드의 특성에 미치는 영향이 커져 양 단면 회절격자 위상 변화에 따른 발진 모드의 호핑이 많이 발생하고 수율이 감소한다. 결합세기가 클수록 양 단면 반사율이 증가하여도 양 단면과 다른 DFB 영역에서 반사되는 필드가 모드의 특성에 미치는 영향이 작아 양 단면 회절격자 위상 변화에 따른 모드의 호핑은 적게 발생하나 Spatial Hole Burning 효과가 증가하여 수율이 감소하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 결합세기에 상관없이 단면 반사율이 증가할수록 최대 수율과 수율이 40% 이상 되는 위상 조정 영역의 위상 범위가 감소함을 볼 수 있었다. 또한 결합세기가 클수록 위상 조정 영역의 위상 변화에 따른 수율의 변화가 커지고 단면 반사율의 변화에 따른 최대 수율을 주는 위상 조정 영역의 위상 값의 변화가 작음을 볼 수 있었다. 결합세기가 2와 3일 경우가 1.2와 4인 경우에 비하여 수율 특성이 좋음을 볼 수 있었다.

Critical Short Circuit Ratio Analysis on DFIG Wind Farm with Vector Power Control and Synchronized Control

  • The introduction of renewable energy sources into the AC grid can change and weaken the strength of the grid, which will in turn affect the stability and robustness of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) wind farm. When integrated with weak grids, the DFIG wind turbine with vector power control often suffers from poor performance and robustness, while the DFIG wind turbine with synchronized control provides better stability. This paper investigates the critical short circuit ratios of DFIG wind turbine with vector power control and synchronized control, to analyze the stability boundary of the DFIG wind turbine. Frequency domain methods based on sensitivity and complementary sensitivity of transfer matrix are used to investigate the stability boundary conditions. The critical capacity of DFIG wind farm with conventional vector power control at a certain point of common coupling (PCC) is obtained and is further increased by employing synchronized control properly. The stability boundary is validated by electromagnetic transient simulation of an offshore wind farm connected to a real regional grid.

회전 외팔보의 유한요소 해석 (A Finite Element Analysis for a Rotating Cantilever Beam)

  • A finite element analysis for a rotating cantilever beam is presented in this study. Based on a dynamic modeling method using the stretch deformation instead of the conventional axial deformation, three linear partial differential equations are (derived from Hamilton's principle. Two of the linear differential equations show the coupling effect between stretch and chordwise deformations. The other equation is an uncoupled one for the flapwise deformation. From these partial differential equations and the associated boundary conditions, two weak forms are derived: one is for the chordwise motion and the other is fur the flptwise motion. The weak farms are spatially discretized with newly defined two-node beam elements. With the discretized equations or the matrix-vector equations, the behaviors of the natural frequencies are investigated for the variation of the rotating speed.
