The discrete wavelet transform is utilized as processing of neural network(NN) to identifying aging state of internal partial discharge in transformer. The discrete wavelet transform is used to produce wavelet coefficients which are used for classification. The mean values of the wavelet coefficients are input into an back-propagation neural network. The networks, after training, can decide if the test signals is aging early state or aging last state, or normal state.
This paper introduces a nonlinear wavelet transform based on the lifting scheme, which is applied to signal denoising through the translation invariant wavelet transform. The wavelet representation using orthogonal wavelet bases has received widespread attention. Recently the lifting scheme has been developed for the construction of biorthogonal wavelets in the spatial domain. In this paper, we adaptively reduce the vanishing moments in the discontinuities to suppress the ringing artifacts and this customizes wavelet transforms providing an efficient framework for the translation invariant denoising. Special care has been given to the boundaries, where we design a set of different prediction coefficients to reduce the prediction error.
In this raper, we present a Wavelet Neural Network(WNN) approach to the solution of the tracking problem for mobile robots that possess complexity, nonlinearity and uncertainty. The neural network is constructed by the wavelet orthogonal decomposition to form a wavelet neural network that can overcome the problems caused by local minima of optimization and various uncertainties. This network structure is helpful to determine the number of the hidden nodes and the initial value of weights with compact structure. In our control method, the control signals are directly obtained by minimizing the difference between the reference track and the pose of a mobile robot that is controlled through a wavelet neural network. The control process is a dynamic on-line process that uses the wavelet neural network trained by the gradient-descent method. Through computer simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control method.
we propose the shrinkage of wavelet coefficients and the averaging method. The wavelet analysis decomposes the measured evoked potentials into scale coefficients and wavelet coefficients as a resolution level, respectively. And in the course of synthesis of evoked potentials, the presented method shrinks the wavelet coefficients, and then reproduces the evoked potentials and lastly averages it. we measured VEP signal to simulate the presented method, and compared it with averaged signal and LMS algorithm. As a result of simulations, the proposed method gets improved VEP about 0.2-1.6db in comparison with the result of averaging method.
The existing methods for detection of fire smoke in a video easily lead to misjudgment of cloud, fog and moving distractors, such as a moving person, a moving vehicle and other non-smoke moving objects. Therefore, an algorithm for detection of fire smoke in a video based on wavelet energy slope fitting is proposed in this paper. The change in wavelet energy of the moving target foreground is used as the basis, and a time window of 40 continuous frames is set to fit the wavelet energy slope of the suspected area in every 20 frames, thus establishing a wavelet-energy-based smoke judgment criterion. The experimental data show that the algorithm described in this paper not only can detect smoke more quickly and more accurately, but also can effectively avoid the distraction of cloud, fog and moving object and prevent false alarm.
The wavelet and semivariogram analysis method are used to identify the city landscape and farmland landscape pattern on the 1m resolution IKONOS images. The results prove that wavelet method is a potential way for landscape pattern analysis. Compared to semivariogram analysis, Wavelet analysis can not only detect the overall spatial pattern, but also find multi-scale and direction structures. In this experiment, the wavelet analysis results indicate: (1) the city landscape image is mainly composed of three level structures whose spatial pattern characters appear at 2m, 16m, 128m and 256m accordingly; (2) the farmland landscape is mainly two scale spatial patterns appearing at the 2m, 128m and 256m. IKONOS Remote sensing, with the high spatial and spectral information, is a powerful tool that can use in many ecological systems research and sustainable management.
In the edge detection of RS image, the useful detail losing and the spurious edge often appear. To solve the problem, we use the dyadic wavelet to detect the edge of surface features by combining the edge detecting with the multi-resolution analyzing of the wavelet transform. Via the dyadic wavelet decomposing, we obtain the RS image of a certain appropriate scale, and figure out the edge data of the plane and the upright directions respectively, then work out the grads vector module of the surface features, at last by tracing them we get the edge data of the object therefore build the RS image which obtains the checked edge. This method can depress the effect of noise and examine exactly the edge data of the object by rule and line. With an experiment of a RS image which obtains an airport, we certificate the feasibility of the application of dyadic wavelet in the object edge detection.
This paper proposes the generalized predictive control(GPC) method of chaotic systems using a self-recurrent wavelet neural network(SRWNN). The reposed SRWNN, a modified model of a wavelet neural network(WNN), has the attractive ability such as dynamic attractor, information storage for later use. Unlike a WNN, since the SRWNN has the mother wavelet layer which is composed of self-feedback neurons, mother wavelet nodes of the SRWNN can store the past information of the network. Thus the SRWNN can be used as a good tool for predicting the dynamic property of nonlinear dynamic systems. In our method, the gradient-descent(GD) method is used to train the SRWNN structure. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the SRWNN based GPC is demonstrated with applications to a chaotic system.
The estimation of time-series data is fundamental process in many data analysis cases. However, the unwanted measurement error is usually added to true data, so that the exact estimation depends on efficient method to eliminate the error components. The wavelet transform method nowadays is expected to improve the accuracy of estimation, because it is able to decompose and analyze the data in various resolutions. Therefore, the wavelet based Kalman filter method for the estimation of time-series data is proposed in this paper. The wavelet transform separates the data in accordance with frequency bandwidth, and the detail wavelet coefficient reflects the stochastic process of error components. This property makes it possible to obtain the covariance of measurement error. We attempt the estimation of true data through recursive Kalman filtering algorithm with the obtained covariance value. The procedure is verified with the fundamental example of Brownian walk process.

Wavelet theory was applied to detect a singularity in a reactor power signal. Compared to Fourier transform, wavelet transform has localization properties in space and frequency. Therefore, using wavelet transform after de-noising, singular points can easily be found. To test this theory, reactor power signals were generated using the HANARO(a Korean multi-purpose research reactor) dynamics model consisting of 39 nonlinear differential equations contaminated with Gaussian noise. Wavelet transform decomposition and de-noising procedures were applied to these signals. It was possible to detect singular events such as a sudden reactivity change and abrupt intrinsic property changes. Thus, this method could be profitably utilized in a real-time system for automatic event recognition(e.g., reactor condition monitoring).
