Damage detection technique for irregular continuum structures using wavelet transform and fuzzy inference system optimized by particle swarm optimization

  • This paper presents a method for detecting damage in irregular 2D and 3D continuum structures based on combination of wavelet transform (WT) with fuzzy inference system (FIS) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). Many damage detection methods study regular structures. This method studies irregular structures and doesn't need response of healthy structures. First the damaged structure is analyzed with finite element methods, and damage response is obtained at the finite element points that have irregular distance, secondly the FIS, which is optimized by PSO is used to obtain responses at points, having equal distance by response at those points that previously obtained by the finite element methods. Then a 2D (for 2D continuum structures) or a 3D (for 3D continuum structures) matrix is performed by equal distance point response. Thirdly, by applying 2D or 3D wavelet transform on 2D or 3D matrix that previously obtained by FIS detail matrix coefficient of WT is obtained. It is shown that detail matrix coefficient can determine the damage zone of the structure by perturbation in the damaged area. In order to illustrate the capability of proposed method some examples are considered.

Improved Decoupled Control and Islanding Detection of Inverter-Based Distribution in Multibus Microgrid Systems

  • This work mainly discusses an accurate and fast islanding detection based on fractional wavelet packet transform (FRWPT)for multibus microgrid systems. The proposed protection scheme uses combined desirable features retrieved from discrete fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) and wavelet packet transform (WPT) techniques, which provides precise time-frequency information on minute perturbation signals introduced in the system. Moreover, this study focuses on the design of decoupling control with a distributed controller based on state feedback for the efficient operation of microgrid systems that are transitioning from the grid-connected mode to the islanded mode. An IEEE 9-bus test system with inverter based distributed generation (DG) units is considered for islanding assessment and smooth operation. Finally, tracking errors are greatly reduced with stability improvement based on the proposed controller. FRWPT based islanding detection is demonstrated via a time domain simulation of the system. Simulated results show an improvement in system stability with the application of the proposed controller and accurate islanding detection based on the FRWPT technique in comparison with the results obtained by applying the wavelet transform (WT) and WPT.

On the Detection of Induction-Motor Rotor Fault by the Combined “Time Synchronous Averaging-Discrete Wavelet Transform” Approach

  • Induction motors are widely used in industrial processes since they offer a very high degree of reliability. But like any other machine, they are vulnerable to faults, which if left unmonitored, might lead to an unexpected interruption at the industrial plant. Therefore, the condition monitoring of the induction motors have been a challenging topic for many electrical machine researchers. Indeed, the effectiveness of the fault diagnosis and prognosis techniques depends very much on the quality of the fault features selection. However, in induction-motor drives, rotor defects are the most complex in terms of detection since they interact with the supply frequency within a restricted band around this frequency, especially in the no-loaded case. To overcome this drawback, this paper deals with an efficient and new method to diagnose the induction-motor rotor fault based on the digital implementation of the monitoring algorithm based on the association of the Time Synchronous Averaging technique and Discrete Wavelet Transform. Experimental results are presented in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The obtained results are largely satisfactory, indicating a promising industrial application of the combined “Time Synchronous Averaging – Discrete Wavelet Transform” approach.

고장전류의 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 동기 발전기 보호 알고리즘 (Synchronous Generator Protective Algorithm using Wavelet Transform of Fault Currents)

  • A generator plays an important role in transferring an electric power to power system networks. The generator protection systems in Korea have been imported and operated through a tum-key from overseas entirely. Therefore, a study of the generator protection field has in urgent need for a stable operation of the imported goods, and for preparation of next generation protection system. The paper describes the fault detection algorithm using WT(Wave!et Transform) of currents for a generator protection. The fault current signals after executing a terminal fault modeling collect using a MA TLAB package, and calculate the wavelet coefficients through the process of a multi -level decomposition (MLD). The proposed algorithm for a fault detection using the Daubechies WT (wavelet transform) was executed with a C language for the command line function and for the real time realization after analyzing MATLAB's graphical interface. The advanced technique had complemented the defects of a DFT by applying a Daubechies WT. and had improved faster a speed and more accurate of fault discriminant than a conventional DFR.

저작권 보호를 위한 임계값과 PN-Code를 이용한 웨이블릿 영역에서의 워터마킹 (Wavelet-Based Watermarking using Threshold Values and PN-Code for Copyright Protection)

  • 본 논문에서는 저작권 보호를 위하여 임계값과 Ph코드를 이용한 워터마킹 기법을 제안한다. 저작권을 보호하기 위하여 원 영상을 웨이블릿 변환하여 얻어진 웨이블릿(wavelet) 계수의 LSB(least significant bit)와 워터마크 영상을 동적 임계값을 적용하여 생성한 6장의 이진영상을 각 주파수 영역 HL1, LH1, HL2, LH2, HL3, LH3에 PN코드를 이용하여 좌표를 결정하고 XOR 연산을 하여 워터마크를 삽입한다. 화질 열화가 많은 저주파 영역과 손실압축에 약한 고주파 영역을 제외한 영역에 워터마크를 삽입하였다. 실험결과로써, 화질의 열화가 적은 워터마크 삽입영상을 얻을 수 있었으며, 강인하게 워터마크가 추출이 되었다.

Progressive damage detection of thin plate structures using wavelet finite element model updating

  • In this paper, wavelet finite element model (WFEM) updating technique is employed to detect sub-element damage in thin plate structures progressively. The procedure of WFEM-based detection method, which can detect sub-element damage gradually, is established. This method involves the optimization of an objective function that combines frequencies and modal assurance criteria (MAC). During the damage detection process, the scales of wavelet elements in the concerned regions are adaptively enhanced or reduced to remain compatible with the gradually identified damage scenarios, while the modal properties from the tests remains the same, i.e., no measurement point replacement or addition are needed. Numerical and experimental examples were conducted to examine the effectiveness of the proposed method. A scanning Doppler laser vibrometer system was employed to measure the plate mode shapes in the experimental study. The results indicate that the proposed method can detect structural damage with satisfactory accuracy by using minimal degrees-of-freedoms (DOFs) in the model and minimal updating parameters in optimization.

LabVIEW의 Machine Vision을 이용한 웨이블릿 기반 지능형 이미지 Watermarking (Wavelet Based Intelligence image Watermarking Using Machine Vision of LabVIEW)

  • 최근 멀티미디어 기술의 발전 및 인터넷의 보급과 더불어 디지털 데이터가 가지는 복제의 용이성으로 인한 저자자의 소유권 보호와 인증에 대한 문제가 중시되고 있다. 이에 따라 디지털 데이터에 워터 마크를 삽입하여 소유권을 보호하고 데이터의 무결성을 보증하도록 하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 본 논문에서는 디지털 영상을 주파수 광간으로 변환시킨 후 효과적인 워터마크 삽입을 위해 인간의 감지능력이 떨어지는 주파수 영역과 중요한 주파수 영역을 선택하였다. 그 다음 영상 전체에 반복적이며, 그 내용에 따라 적응적인 워터 마크를 삽입하는 방법을 제시하였다. 주파수 광간으로 변환하는 방법으로는 수직, 수평, 대각선의 3가지 방향성과 다 해상도 (Multi-resolution) 특성을 갖는 웨이블릿 변환을 택하였다. 웨이블릿 기반의 이미지 워터마킹 방법을 LabVIEW의 Machine Vision을 이용하여 지능적인 워터마크를 구현한다.

  • Recently, diagnosis techniques have been investigated to detect a partial discharge associated with a dielectric material defect in a high-voltage electrical apparatus However, the properties of detection technique of PD aren't completely understood because the physical process of PD. Therefore, this paper analyzes the process on Surface Discharge of Polymer Insulator using Wavelet transform. Wavelet transform provides a direct quantitative measure of spectral content in the time-frequency domain. As it is important to develop a non-contact method for detecting the Contamination Degree, this paper analyzes the electromagnetic waves emitted from PD using Wavelet transform. This paper experimentally shows the process of PD as a two-dimensional distribution in the time-frequency domain. This method is shown to be useful for detecting prediction of contamination degree.

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 영상 데이터의 정보 보호를 위해 주파수 영역에서의 웨이브릿 변환(Wavelet Transform)을 이용한 이미지 적응 디지털 워터마킹(Image-Adaptive Digital Watermarking) 방법을 제안한다. 이미지 적응 웨이브릿(Image-Adaptive Wavelet)은 영상을 주파수적으로 분해하면서 각 대역들의 공간 영역에서의 정보를 함께 지니고 JND(Just noticeable difference)을 포함한다. 이미지 적응 웨이브릿의 이러한 특성을 이용하여 다해상도 분해하고, 손실 압축(Loss Compression)이나 필터링(Filtering), 잡음(Noise)등에 크게 영향받는 저주파 성분과 인간의 시각적으로 큰 의미를 갖는 고주파 성분의 특성을 이용하여 워터마크를 삽입한다.

새로운 2-D 웨이브렛 함수를 이용한 라인-에지 검출 (Line-Edge Detection Using New 2-D Wavelet Function)

  • 영상에서 신호가 급격히 변화하는 지점은 영상의 특징을 분석함에 있어서 가장 중요한 요소이며, 영상의 위치와 모양 등에 대한 다양한 정보를 포함하고 있다. 그러므로, 이러한 에지를 검출하기 위한 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔으며, 초기에 사용한 에지 검출 연산자는 인접한 화소들 사이에 대한 관계를 이용하는 것이었다. 이 와 같은 방법들은 모든 경계 지점에서 에 지를 검출하므로, 라인-에지와 같은 일정한 폭 이하의 곡선에 대해서도 에지의 중복 검출을 수행한다. 한편, 최근 신호처리 분야에서 새로운 기법으로 제시된 웨이브렛 변환은 멀티스케일 에지 검출이 가능하며, 영상에서 에지를 포함한 특징들을 분석하는 분야에 널리 응용되고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 라인 폭에 의존하지 않는 새로운 2-D 웨이브렛 함수를 사용하여, 영상에 존재하는 다양한 폭의 곡선에서 라인-에지 성분을 검출하였다.
