  • Transient signals in underwater show several characterisrics, that is, short duration, strong nonstationarity, various types of transient sources, which make it difficult to analyze and classify transient signals. In this paper, the feature vector extraction method for transient SOMAR signals is discussed by applying digital signal processing methods to the analysis of transient signals. A feature vector extraction methods using wavelet transform, which enable us to obtain better recognition rate than automatic classification using the classical method, are proposed. It is confirmed by simulation that the proposed method using wavelet transform performs better than the classical method even with smaller number of feature vectors. Especially, the feature vector extraction method using PR-QMF wavelet transform with the Daubechies coefficients is shown to perform well in noisy environment with easy implementation.

  • In this paper, we deal with modulation classification method using WT capable of classifying incident digital signals without a priori information. These key features should have good properties of sensitive with modulation types and insensitive with SNR variation. The 4 key features for modulation recognition are selected using WT coefficients, which have the property of insentive to the changing of noise. The numerical simulations for classifying 8 digital modulation types using these features are peformed. The numerical simulations of the 3 types (i.e. DTC, MDC, and SVMC) of modulation classifiers are performed the investigation of classification accuracy and execution time to design the modulation classification module in software radio. The simulation result indicated that the execution time of MDC and DTC was best and MDC and SVMC showed good classification performance.

  • In this paper, we propose wavelet transform image compression method using shuffling and bit plane correlation. Proposed method is that original image decompose into multiresolutions using biorthogonal wavelet transform with linear phase response property and decomposed subbands are classified by maximum classification gain. And classified data sets in each subband are quantized using arbitrary set optimum bit allocation method. Quantized data sets in each subband are shuffled and context based bit plane arithmetic encoded .In context based bit plane arithmetic encoding, the context for each subband is not assigned uniformly, but assigned according to maximum correlation direction. Our results are comparable, or superior for some images at low rates, to published state-of-the-art coders.

  • This paper presents an approach to classify normal and arrhythmia from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database using Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) and neural network. In the first step, Discrete Cosine Transform is used to obtain the representative 15 coefficients for input features of neural network. In the second step, Discrete Wavelet Transform are used to extract maximum value, minimum value, mean value, variance, and standard deviation of detail coefficients. Neural network classifies normal and arrhythmia beats using 55 numbers of input features, and then the accuracy rate is 98.8%.

  • In this study the complex-valued continuous wavelet transform (CWT) has been applied in detection of Electrocardiograms (ECG) as response to various signal classification methods such as Fourier transforms and other tools of time frequency analysis. Experiments have shown that CWT may serve as a detector of non-stationary signal changes as ECG. The tested signal is corrupted by short time events. We applied CWT to detect short-time event and the result image representation of the signal has showed us that one can easily find the discontinuity at the time scale representation. Analysis of ECG signal using complex-valued continuous wavelet transform is the first step to detect possible changes and alternans. In the second step, modulus and phase must be thoroughly examined. Thus, short time events in the ECG signal, and other important characteristic points such as frequency overlapping, wave onsets/offsets extrema and discontinuities even inflection points are found to be detectable. We have proved that the complex-valued CWT can be used as a powerful detector in ECG signal analysis.

  • A binary decision model which is used to denoising has demerits to measure the precise ratio of signal to noise because of only a binary classification. To supplement these demerits, complex statistical model and undecimated wavelet transform are generally exploited. In this paper, we propose a noise reduction method using a multi-level decision model for measuring the ratio of noise in noisy image. The propose method achieves good denoising performance with orthogonal wavelet transform because the ratio of signal to noise can be calculated to multi-valued form. In simulation results, the proposed denoising method outperforms 0.1dB in the PSNR sense than the state of art denoising algorithms using orthogonal wavelet transform.

  • Recently, diagnosis techniques have been investigated to detect a partial discharge associated with a dielectric material defect in a high-voltage electrical apparatus However, the properties of detection technique of PD aren't completely understood because the physical process of PD. Therefore, this paper analyzes the process on Surface Discharge of Polymer Insulator using Wavelet transform. Wavelet transform provides a direct quantitative measure of spectral content in the time-frequency domain. As it is important to develop a non-contact method for detecting the Contamination Degree, this paper analyzes the electromagnetic waves emitted from PD using Wavelet transform. This paper experimentally shows the process of PD as a two-dimensional distribution in the time-frequency domain. This method is shown to be useful for detecting prediction of contamination degree.

  • In this paper, we present an image compression algorithm that is capable of significantly reducing the vast mount of information contained in multispectral images. The developed algorithm exploits the spectral and spatial correlations found in multispectral images. The scheme encodes the difference between images after contrast/brightness equalization to remove the spectral redundancy, and utilizes a two-dimensional wavelet trans-form to remove the spatial redundancy. The transformed images are than encoded by hilbert-curve scanning and run-length-encoding, followed by huffman coding. We also present the performance of the proposed algorithm with KITSAT-1 image as well as the LANDSAT MultiSpectral Scanner data. The loss of information is evaluated by peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and classification capability.

  • In this paper, we designed a fuzzy system using the wavelet coefficients to detection the PVCs effectively and to increase the accuracy of decision of the arrhythmia. In the proposed Fuzzy system, the QRS complex of ECG signal is divided into 6th level frequence bands by wavelet transform using Haar wavelet. The MIT/BIH database for the source of input signal is used in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. From the simulation results, the decision of membership functions for PVCs and heart rates by using Fuzzy rules, we detected the abnormal values effectively by application of leaned from neural network and we also found results in classification ratio of 95% the decision of arrhythmia.
