The effect of dopamine on the propagation and the frequency electrical activities (slow wave) of the stomach was studied in isolated stomach muscle strips of 145 cats, The gastric slow wave monopolarly recorded by four capillary electrodes (Ag-AgCl) in Krebs-Ringer solution $(ph\;7.4,\;temperature\;36{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C)$ bubbled with 5% $CO_2$ in $O_2$. Dopamine caused concentration-dependent changes of direction of slow wave propagation with decline in development of irregular propagation by domperidone pretreatment. Dopamine also increased the variation of slow wave frequency concentration-dependently. The variation of slow wave frequency induced by dopamine was significantly inhibited by pretreatment with domperidone and phentolamine but not with propranolol, hexamethonium and tetrodotoxin. It is therefore suggested that dopamine plays a role in the genesis of gastric electrical abnormality acting on dopamine receptors and partly on ${\alpha}-adrenergic$ receptors in cats.
The stiff top layer in a soil profile, which can happen in winter, may change the isolation effect of the wave barrier. The research scope of this paper is the investigation of the propagation of surface waves in layered soil with a stiff layer on its top, and the isolation effect of the solid stiff wave barrier. The investigations have been performed numerically by the Boundary-Element Method as a two-dimensional problem. A strip foundation vibrated harmonically in vertical direction was considered as the vibration source. Three soil profiles, a homogeneous half-space, two profiles with different thickness of stiff top layer, with two different types of wave barriers were investigated. The profiles with a stiff top layer show considerable reductions of the amplitude of the vibration in comparison to the homogeneous soil profile. The layered soil profiles with a stiff top layer do not show wave propagation velocities as high as they are expected from the material properties. Furthermore the vibration amplitudes in a frozen soil are much smaller with distance than in a non-frozen soil.

We have researched on controlling an electron temperature and a plasma collision frequency to study the effect of collisions on helicon plasmas. So, we have designed and constructed an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) heating system in the helicon device as an auxiliary heating source. Since then, we have tried to optimize experimental designs such as a magnetic field configuration for ECR heating and 2.45GHz microwave launching system for its power transfer to the plasma effectively, and have characterized plasma parameters using a Langmuir probe. For improving an efficiency of the ECR heating with R-wave in the helicon plasma, we would understand an effect of R-wave propagation with ECR heating in the helicon plasma, because the efficiency of ECR heating with R-wave depends on some factors such as electron temperature, electron density, and magnetic field gradient. Firstly, we calculate the effect of R-wave propagation into the ECR zone in the plasma with those factors. We modify the magnetic field configuration and this system for the effective ECR heating in the plasma. Finally, after optimizing this system, the plasma parameters such as electron temperature and electron density are characterized by a RF compensated Langmuir probe.
In this paper, the magnetic field influence on the wave propagation characteristics of graphene nanosheets is examined within the frame work of a two-variable plate theory. The small-scale effect is taken into consideration based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory. For more accurate analysis of graphene sheets, the proposed theory contains two scale parameters related to the nonlocal and strain gradient effects. A derivation of the differential equation is conducted, employing extended principle of Hamilton and solved my means of analytical solution. A refined trigonometric two-variable plate theory is employed in Kinematic relations. The scattering relation of wave propagation in solid bodies which captures the relation of wave number and the resultant frequency is also investigated. According to the numerical results, it is revealed that the proposed modeling can provide accurate wave dispersion results of the graphene nanosheets as compared to some cases in the literature. It is shown that the wave dispersion characteristics of graphene sheets are influenced by magnetic field, elastic foundation and nonlocal parameters. Numerical results are presented to serve as benchmarks for future analyses of graphene nanosheets.
A free vibration analysis and wave propagation of functionally graded porous beams has been presented in this work using a high order hyperbolic shear deformation theory. Unlike other conventional shear deformation theories, a new displacement field that introduces indeterminate integral variables has been used to minimize the number of unknowns. The constituent materials of the beam are assumed gradually variable along the direction of height according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The variation of the pores in the direction of the thickness influences the mechanical properties. It is therefore necessary to predict the effect of porosity on vibratory behavior and wave velocity of FG beams in this study. A new function of the porosity factor has been developed. Hamilton's principle is used for the development of wave propagation equations in the functionally graded beam. The analytical dispersion relationship of the FG beam is obtained by solving an eigenvalue problem. Illustrative numerical examples are given to show the effects of volume fraction distributions, beam height, wave number, and porosity on free vibration and wave propagation in a functionally graded beam.
When underwater blasting is conducted, both shock waves and water waves have an effect on adjacent coastal areas. In this study, an empirical formula for estimating the details of water waves caused by underwater blasting was applied to a non-reflected wave generation system, and a 3D numerical wave tank (NWT) was improved to reproduce the generation and propagation of such water waves. The maximum elevations of the propagated water waves were comparatively analyzed to determine the validity and effectiveness of the NWT. Good agreement was demonstrated between the empirical and simulation results. The generation and propagation of water waves were also simulated under each underwater blasting scenario for the removal of the Todo islet at the Busan Newport International Terminal (PNIT). It was determined that the water waves generated by the underwater blasting scenario examined in this study did not have a significant impact on the PNIT. In addition, multiple-charge blasting caused higher wave heights than single-charge blasting. As the amount of firing charge increased, the wave height also increased. Finally, larger water waves were generated during the later blasting conducted at a deeper depth as compared with an earlier blasting conducted at a relatively shallow depth.

In general, the electromagnetic field analysis of a vertical dipole mainly deals with the space. wave. But when only the space wave is considered, as a receiving point is close to the surface of medium, the receiving electric field strength is rapidly decreased. In this paper, to solve this problem, we considered both the surface wave and the space wave contribution. When the vector potential is used with the angular spectrum transformation method, the space wave and the surface wave are included in the final electric field expression. By using this final electric field expression, the effect of the surface wave is analyzed through simulations and the factors having effect on a propagation phenomenon of sea surface are studied in detail. Also, the justification of the theoretical formula was proved by comparing theoretical values with measuring ones at 880. 2MHz which is the frequency of mobile communication.

The aim of this study was estimated the characteristics of the wave propagation by the water level conditions using a numerical modeling method at the Wando sea area. For three cases numerical simulation on the condition of incident and incoming of the deepwater design wave and the season normal wave, the spatial distribution of the incident wave at study area were investigated. And the calculated numerical modeling results were compared with measured field wave data. According to on-site wave data measured for 18 days, the range of the significant wave height and period were 0.10~1.14 m, 4.35~8.74 sec, respectively, and the maximum wave height were 0.15~1.66 m. From the results of numerical model for offshore design wave incident, the wave height attacked from Southern-East direction at this study area were over maximum 10.5 m because of rapidly change of water depth. Numerical modeling by three water level conditions of Approxmate Lowest Low Water Level(Approx. L.L.W), Mean Sea Level(M.S.L) and Approximate Highest High Water Level(Approx. H.H.W) were practiced. From the results for the case of Approx. H.W.L, variations of wave height at the back area of islands were about 1.6 m at maximum value for the case of deepwater design wave incoming. The significant wave heights of winter season were bigger than summer under normal wave condition, the incident wave height over 5.5 m decreased by shielding effect of islands. The change of maximum wave height at summer season were distinct than winter and was about 1.2 m and 0.8 m, respectively.
In this paper, we propose a hydrodynamic scene separation method for wave propagation from video imagery using autoencoder. In the coastal area, image analysis methods such as particle tracking and optical flow with video imagery are usually applied to measure ocean waves owing to some difficulties of direct wave observation using sensors. However, external factors such as ambient light and weather conditions considerably hamper accurate wave analysis in coastal video imagery. The proposed method extracts hydrodynamic scenes by separating only the wave motions through minimizing the effect of ambient light during wave propagation. We have visually confirmed that the separation of hydrodynamic scenes is reasonably well extracted from the ambient light and backgrounds in the two videos datasets acquired from real beach and wave flume experiments. In addition, the latent representation of the original video imagery obtained through the latent representation learning by the variational autoencoder was dominantly determined by ambient light and backgrounds, while the hydrodynamic scenes of wave propagation independently expressed well regardless of the external factors.
SBN (Structure-Borne Noise) reduction in resiliently mounted machineries are predicted by using mass-spring model and wave model. In mass-spring model, mount is modeled as a spring, while in wave model, mount is considered as an equivalent elastic rod for taking account into longitudinal wave propagation. The predictions for SBN reduction through mounts are compared to the measurements for four different pumps. It is found that the mass-spring model is valid only in low frequency range below few hundred Hz, while for high frequency ranges longitudinal wave propagation in the mount must be considered to explain the measurements. It is also shown that impedance of the floor slightly affects low frequency behaviour in mass-spring and wave model below 50 Hz - 80 Hz, so that in engineering practice the effect of floor impedance may be neglected in computing mount performance.
