  • Photoreactive multilayer films were prepared using long-chin alkyl diesters of p-phenylenediacrylic acid(p-PDA). In spite of the absence of hydrophilic groups in these molecules. they formed stable mono layers on the water surface when mixed with arachidic acid. Surface showed the presence of a condecsed phase and these monolayer could be transferred onto a substrate with Y-type deposition.

  • Brewster angle microscopy(BAM) makes it possible to observe the monolayer states on the water subphase and the phase transitions from a gaseous phase via a expanded phase to a condensed phase. Also BAM can be used to observe the films on the solid substrate such as Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films. In this Paper Polyamic Acid Alkylamine Salts(PAAS) was used for forming L films and LB films and $\pi$-A isotherm showed pressure of each phase. We obtained BAM images as surface pressure increased. Images of LB films were compared with data from ellipsometry which was used to measure the film thickness. Images of both L films and LB films were analyzed with computer in the point of brightness.

  • We attempted to fabricate polyurethane derivatives (PU-CN, PU-DCM) LB films by using LB method. Also, we investigated the monolayer behavior at the air-water interface by surface pressure-area ($\pi$-A) isotherms. And, the surface morphologies and the physicochemical properties of LB films were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV-vis spectroscopy, respectively. Also, the electrical properties of polyurethane derivatives LB films were investigated by using the conductivity, the dielectric constant and activation energy. In the surface morphologies, physicochemical, electrical properties of polyurethane derivatives LB films, the properties is different as to the Polyurethane derivatives, it is considered that this phenomena could be described by the difference of lumophore pendant which was adhered at PU main chain.

  • Physical properties of soybean curd powder prepared with hot air, vacuum and freeze drying methods were investigated. Adsorption characteristics were studied under various water activities (such as 0.11, 0.33, 0.44, 0.55, 0.66, 0.75, 0.85, and 0.93) at 5℃, and prediction models were developed. Equilibrium moisture and monolayer moisture contents were the highest when freeze dried. due to the porous structure. In this result, Oswin model was the best fit for the isotherm of soybean curd. Sorption enthalpy indicated that high moisture content of powder showed lower sorption than that of low moisture content.

Surface showed the presence of a condecsed phase and these monolayer could be transferred onto a substrate with Y-type deposition. The UV spectra of mixed multilayer films showed of absorption peak compared with that in solution. The linear relationship between absorbanoe and the number of layers supports the successful formation of multilayer films.

  • We fabricated the QCM with Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film deposited at the different subphase pH and investigated the resonant frequency response by the injection of organic gas response. In the $\pi$-A isotherms, the monolayer on the air/water interface had different limiting area per molecule and showed more condensed status as increasing the subphase pH. When palmitic acid LB film was deposited on the QCM, the resonant frequency shift was proportional to the deposited layer and had more resonant frequency shift in the case of the higher pH range as expected. In the resonant frequency for the injection of organic gas, it has been improved in the case of LB film fabricated at the lower subphase pH range and dependant upon the molecular weight of organic gas.

  • In this paper, We introduced that the method for determing the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of floating monolayers on water interface. Displacement current flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$of monolayers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a linear relationship between the monolayer compression speed $\alpha$ and the molecular area Am. here Displacement current gives a peak at A = Am. The dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of organic monolayers was examined on the basis of the analysis developed here.

  • Maxwell displacement current(MDC) measuring technique has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. A method for determining the dielectric relaxation time ${\tau}$ of floating monolayers on the water surface is presented. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time ${\tau}$ of monolayers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed ${\alpha}$ and the molecular area Am. Compression speed ${\alpha}$ was about 30, 40, 50mm/min.

In the AFM images, we conclude that surface morphology of PU-DCM LB films is smooth and homogeneous and has optimal hydrophobicity and good stability, whereas PU-CN LB films give rougher surfaces with more excess material. In the I-V characteristics, the conductivity is different as to the polyurethane derivatives, it is considered that this phenomena could be described by the difference of lumophore pendant which was adhered at PU main chain.

  • This paper describes the thermally stimulated current(TSC) measurements arachidic acid(AA) and polyamic acid alkylamine salts(PAAS) LB film, which is a precursor of polyimide(PI). The measurements were performed from room temperature to about 250$^{\circ}C$ and the temperature was increased at a rate of 0.02 $^{\circ}C$/s linearly[4]. It shows that peaks of TSC are observed at about 80$^{\circ}C$ in the arachidic acid and about 80$^{\circ}C$, 160$^{\circ}C$ in the PAAS LB films. The DSC and TGA of PAAS, arachidic acid are measure. Monolayer phases on the water subphase such as Langmuir(L) films and the phase transitions from gas phase to solid phase via liquid phase are observed using Brewster angle microscopy(BAM). BAM is also used to observe the Langemuir-Blodgett(LB) films.
