  • In this study, the compressive strength and porosity characteristics of cement mortar mixed with liquid and powder composite water repellent were evaluated. When the liquid water repellent was mixed, the compressive strength at 28 days of age was 42% compared to OPC, and the compressive strength was greatly reduced. However, the 28-day compressive strength of the powder water repellent mixture and P5L1, P6L1 liquid and powder composite water repellent was about 97% compared to OPC, and there was little decrease in compressive strength.

Effects of Sources and Quality of LED Light on Response of Lycium chinense of Photosynthetic Rate, Transpiration Rate, and Water Use Efficiency in the Smart Farm

  • Smart farm is a breakthrough technology that can maximize crop productivity and economy through efficient utilization of space regardless of external environmental factors. This study was conducted to investigate the optimal growth and physiological conditions of Chinese matrimony vine (Lycium chinense) with LED light sources in a smart farm. The light source was composed of red+blue and red+blue+white mixed light using a LED system. In the red+blue mixed light, red and blue colored LEDs were mixed at ratios of 1:1, 2:1, 5:1, and 10:1, with duty ratios varied to 100%, 99%, and 97%. The experimental results showed that the photosynthetic rate according to the types of light sources did not show statistically significant differences. Meanwhile, the photosynthetic rate according to the mixed ratio of the red and the blue light was highest with the red light and blue LED ratio of 1:1 while the water use efficiency was highest with the red and blue LED ratio of 2:1. The photosynthetic rate according to duty ratio was highest with the duty ratio of 99% under the mixed light condition of red+blue+white whereas the water use efficiency was highest with the duty ratio of 97% under the mixed light of red+blue LED. The results indicate that the light source and light quality for the optimal growth of Lycium chinense in the smart farm using the LED system are the mixed light of red+blue (1:1) and the duty ratio of 97%.

실험실 조건에서 레인가든의 도시 비점오염물질 제거효과 (Effects of Rain Gardens on Removal of Urban Non-point Source Pollutants under Experimental Conditions)

  • As impermeable layer continues to increase with the urbanization process, direct input of nonpoint source pollutants into water bodies via stormwater has caused serious effects on the aquatic ecosystem. Potential applications of rain gardens are increasing not only as best management practices (BMP) for reducing the level of nonpoint source pollutants but also as an ecological engineering alternative for low impact development (LID). In this study, remediation performance of various planting types, such as a mixed planting system with shrubs and herbaceous plants, was assessed quantitatively to effectively manage stormwater and increase landscape applicability. The mixed planting system with Rhododendron lateritium and Zoysia japonica showed the highest removal performance of $76.9{\pm}7.6%$ and $58.4{\pm}5.0%$ for total nitrogen and $89.9{\pm}7.9%$ and $82.4{\pm}5.2%$ for total phosphorus at rainfall intensities of 2.5 mm/h and 5.0 mm/h, respectively. The mixed planting system also showed the highest removal performance for heavy metals. The results suggest that a rain garden with the mixed planting system has high potential applicability as a natural reduction system for nonpoint source pollutants in order to manage stormwater with low concentrations of pollutants and will increase water recycling in urban areas.

Addition of a Worm Leachate as Source of Humic Substances in the Drinking Water of Broiler Chickens

  • The objective of this research was to evaluate the growth performance, the apparent ileal digestibility of nitrogen and energy, the retention of nutrients and the apparent metabolizable energy corrected to zero nitrogen retention (AMEn) in broiler chickens supplemented with increasing doses of a worm leachate (WL) as a source of humic substances (HS) in the drinking water. In Exp. 1, 140 male broilers were penned individually and assigned to four WL levels (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%) mixed in the drinking water from 21 to 49 days of age. Water was offered in plastic bottles tied to the cage. In Exp. 2, 600 male broilers from 21 to 49 days of age housed in floor pens were assigned to three levels of WL (0%, 10%, and 20%) mixed in the drinking water. The WL was mixed with tap water in plastic containers connected by plastic tubing to bell drinkers. The results of both experiments were subjected to analysis of variance and polynomial contrasts. In Exp. 1, the daily water consumption was similar among treatments but the consumption of humic, fulvic, and total humic acids increased linearly (p<0.01) as the WL increased in the drinking water. The feed conversion (p<0.01) and the ileal digestibility of energy, the excretion of dry matter and energy, the retention of dry matter, ash and nitrogen and the AMEn showed quadratic responses (p<0.05) relative to the WL levels in drinking water. In Exp. 2, the increasing level of WL in the drinking water had quadratic effects on the final body weight, daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio (p<0.05). The addition of WL as a source of HS in the drinking water had beneficial effects on the growth performance, ileal digestibility of energy, the retention of nutrients as well on the AMEn in broiler chickens; the best results were observed when the WL was mixed at levels of 20% to 30% in the drinking water.

규정 이상의 회수수를 사용한 콘크리트의 내구성 및 강도 특성 (Durability and Strength Characteristics of Concrete Using Sludge Water above Specification)

  • 최근 환경오염과 처리비용의 문제로 레미콘(ready mixed concrete) 회수수를 배합수로 재이용하기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 회수수를 너무 많이 이용할 경우 콘크리트의 품질이 저하 될 수 있다. 이런 이유로 KS표준규정에선 회수수 중 슬러지 고형성분의 혼입비율을 시멘트 중량의 3% 이하로 제한하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 규정이상의 슬러지 고형성분을 혼입한 경우, 콘크리트에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 실험결과에 따르면, 혼입율 증가에 따라 작업성은 떨어졌으나 강도발현은 좋게 나타났다. 또한 건조수축 및 동결융해 실험에서는 슬러지수 혼입에 따른 영향이 적은 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this study is the hydration properties of motar using Blast-Furnace Slag(BFS) with water elured from recycled coarse aggregate. The results of the experiment show that the water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate mixed with blast furnace slag has comparatively higher hydration activity than the mortar not mixed with one in early-age mortar causing the calcium hydroxide in the recycled coarse aggregate to work on as a stimulus to the hydration of ground granulated blast furnace slag. BFS mixed with the eluting water the hydration reaction was a promotion.

  • This study explored the compacition characteristics of organic weathered soils. Weathered soils were collected around the Gwangju University in Jinwol-dong, Gwangju city, and coal was used as organic material. Weathered soils were mixed with coal so that the ratio of organic elements against mixed soil can be 0%, 25%, 50%, and 75% respectively. Compaction tests were carried out on these organic mixture soils in different ratios of organic materials. And soap water instead of water in compaction tests was used. Through this study, We knew that the bigger the organic material ratio was, the more the optimum moisture content increased and the less the maximum dry unit weight reduced. In case of using small compaction energy, using soap water instead of water improved the compaction efficiency a little.

  • 지난 2010년 9월 21일~22일 서울지역에 발생한 시간당 최고 250 mm의 집중호우는 짧은 지속 시간동안 강수총량이 컸기 때문에 재산 및 인명피해가 상당했다. 기존의 강우빈도해석은 각 사상의 강수총량 또는 지속시간별 연최대치강우량을 기준으로 산정하는 방식인데 이번 이상홍수의 경우에는 강수총량과 첨두강수량이 높음에도 불구하고 지속시간이 짧기 때문에 체감적 강도에 미치지 못하는 재현기간을 가질 것으로 생각된다. 그러므로 빈도해석 시 기존 일변량 빈도해석과 달리 이변량, 삼변량, 다변량의 빈도해석이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구의 대상유역은 용담댐 유역으로 강수총량, 지속시간, 첨두값을 대상으로 상관관계를 비교하여 지속시간과 첨두강수량에 대한 Gumbel mixed 모형을 적용하여 그에 따른 재현기간을 산정하였다. 또한 단일 Gumbel 모형과의 비교를 통해 두 모형의 차이점을 밝힘으로써 Gumbel Mixed 모형에 대한 신뢰도를 높였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안한 Gumbel mixed 모형은 이상홍수 뿐 아니라 다양한 수문학적 설계와 관리에 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The phase behavior of chlorinated hydrocarbon/mixed surfactants/water microemulsion systems were investigated for dry cleaning solvent properties. With appropriate surfactant mixtures, Winsor type I-III-II microemulsions were generated which is the same as hydrocarbon systems. For perchloroethylene(PCE) with mixed Tween systems, the optimum salinity(S*) decreases and the optimum solubilization parameter(o*) increases with decreas- ing HLB. For PCE with mixed Aerosol MA and ethoxylated alcohol systems, S* and o* both increase with increasing ethylene oxide moles. For dichlorobenzene(DCB) with mixed Aerosol MA and ethoxylated or propoxylated sulfate systems, S* and o* both increase with increasing ethylene oxide moles or propylene oxide moles.
