As the weight of trucks increases, the need for concrete pavement also increases. Therefore, the addition of fly-ash may improve the properties of pavement concrete as well as recycle fly-ash. A full factorial experiment was performed using the primary variables, such as water-cement ratio, fly-ash substitution ratio, and maximum size of coarse aggregate, as a preliminary study for optimum mixture design for pavement concrete. The results of preliminary study indicates that the addition of fly-ash is the most important factor determining concrete strength, followed by the maximum size of coarse aggregate and water-cement ratio. It, also, shows the relative importance of fly-ash substitution ratio, compared to the water-cement ratio, and the interaction effects between the primary variables. Optimum mixture designs for pavement concrete incorporating fly-ash, that satisfied the target responses, were proposed in terms of fly-ash substitution ratio, water cement ratio and maximum size of coarse aggregate.
Electrocoagulation has been suggested as a promising alternative to conventional coagulation. The process is characterized by reduced sludge production, no requirement for chemical use, and ease of operation. However, this coagulation has scarcely been studied in water purifying process. This study was performed several batch experiments to compare turbidity removal between electrocoagulation and chemical coagulation. In addition, characteristics of floe were evaluated with zeta potential and particle size distributions. Electrocoagulation showed a relatively higher removal of turbidity (approximately 5%) with the same aluminum amount than conventional chemical coagulation. In addition, turbidity removal by electrocoagulation was less sensitive to pH and was greater for more extensive pH range than chemical coagulation. The results of zeta potential and floc size distributions illustrated that electrocoagulation provided the preferable conditions for coagulation such as zeta potential close to zero millivolt and increased portions of particles in the range of 40 and $100{\mu}m$.
This paper approaches to improve the mechanical and durability properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete with the addition of Alccofine as a mineral admixture. The mechanical and durability performance of GPC was assessed by means of compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability, water absorption and permeable voids tests. The correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength, depth of water penetration and percentage permeable voids are also reported. Test results show that addition of Alccofine significantly improves the mechanical as well as permeation properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete. Very good correlations were noted between the depth of water penetration and compressive strength, percentage permeable voids and compressive strength as well as between compressive strength and flexural strength.
Although the water mixed into the concrete plays the role of hydration and acquiring the necessary workability, the more portion of water acts to obtain the substantial workability rather than to complete the hydration. However, the excess amount of water causes the poor quality of concrete, therefore it is useful to add the minimum amount of water as required as to acquire the proper workability. There have been the considerable numbers of investigations in which the dispersion phenomena of strong eletrolytic high polymer compounds such as lignosulfate and some of surface activation agents were studied to utilize as the dispersion agent of concrete. In the present study, Na-lignate, dispersion properties of which has not been studied yet, were investigated with the purpose of utilizing as a dispersion agent of concrete. The microscopic observations showed a great improvement in the dispersion of cement particles, also the fluidity and compressive strength of concrete were remarkably increased with the addition of Na-lignate: The addition of Na-lignate by 0.02% showed the increase of 1.76 times and 1.27 times of slump value and flow value respectively, and the compressive strength was increased by 1.07 times.

Effect of excessive addition of water reducing agent was examined by concrete tests. Water reducing agents of lignin or naphtalene base were used in the experiment. Setting of concrete was retarded according to the increase of dosage of water reducing agent and was extremely delayed at the 3 times or more use of lignin base agent and near 5 times or more use of naphtalene base agent respectively. When water reducing agent was used more than 6 times of standard dosage, early strength of concrete was very low and the strength reduction was very severe at all test ages in the concrete using lignin base agent.
Polyporus would used as diuretics. Then, for the purpose of experimentally certifying the above mention, the effect on the renal function of dog was investigated, utilizing clearance technique. Water and alcohol extracts, when injected intravenously, produced significant increases of urinary sodium and potassium, osmolar and free water clearances, and urine flow, while glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow remained unchanged. During diuresis produced by furosemide, addition of water extract reduced the action of furosemide and markedly renal plasma flow. It would appear that these compounds are capable of action by a different mechanism or a different site. water extract, when infused directly into a renal artery, reduced the urine flow of experimental kidney as well as renal plasma flow, and the contralateral kidney exhibited diuresis, whereas amounts of sodium and potassium excreted in urine increased on both kidney. It is surmised from those observations that Polyporus induces diuresis by inhibition the reabsorptive mechanism of renal tubules through some endogeneous humoral substances, in addition, directly reduces the renal plasma flow.

Electrical properties of Crosslinked polyethylene/silane crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE/SXLPE) blends were studied. Silane coupling agents of various contents were added to blends and their water tree and electrical breakdown characteristics were investigated. The water tree length of XLPE/SXLPE were increased by the addition of silane coupling agents except the case of SXLPE 10 % containing coupling agents of 0.5, 1.0 phr. AC breadown strength slightly increased by the addition of coupling agents to XLPE/SXLPE blends in cases of SXLPE 20 % containing coupling agents of 2.0 phr and SXLPE 50 %. The tendency of effects on water tree and breakdown characteristics was inverse.

The aim of the research is to evaluate the segregation resistivity of the mixture conditions by changing the PVA and borax solutions for thixotropic property on concrete mixture. Since the water addition caused by producing solutions of PVA and borax induces segregation of the concrete mixture, the unit water was reduced by replacing the water amount for PVA and borax solution. By replacing the water from PVA and borax solutions, the segregation was prevented with prefixed concrete mix design and thixotropic properties were also occurred.
The present work investigates the wave generation and propagation in a 2-D wave flume to assess the effect of wave reflection for varying beach slopes by using a numerical tool based on computational fluid dynamics. At first, a numerical wave flume (NWF) is created with different mesh sizes to select the optimum mesh size for time efficient simulation. In addition, different beach slope conditions are introduced such as 1:3, 1:5 and numerical beach at the far end of the NWF to optimize the wave reflection solutions. In addition, several parameters are analysed in order to optimize the solutions. The developed numerical model and its key findings are compared with analytical and experimental surface elevation results and it reveals a good correlation. Finally, the recommended numerical solutions are validated with the experimental findings.

This paper examined the effect of water repellent type and addition among various factors on the deicing performance of cement mortar surface according to incorporation. As a result, the compressive strength of the water repellentcement mortar compared to the cement mortar, and the compressive strength of the oligomer-based water repellent mortar was higher than that of the monomer-based water repellent. The contact angle of the water-repellent mortar was increased compared to the additive mortar, and the oligomer water-repellent agent compared to the monomer-based water-repellent. As a result of measuring the ice formation time of cement mortar due to the mixing of the water repellent, the ice formation was delayed until 25 minutes for mortar to which the water repellent was added. the measurement of the ice attachment load mortar without water repellent with water repellentwhen the water repellent was added to mortar, deicing performance was increased.
