  • This study measured the energy recovery rate of each municipal waste incineration facility according to the revised energy recovery rate estimation method, which targeted four municipal waste incineration facilities (Unit No. 7). The results calculated by the measuring instruments were used for each factor to estimate the recovery rate, and the available potential of available energy was examined by analyzing the energy production and valid consumption. As a result of the low heating value, 2,540 kcal/kg was calculated on average when the LHVw formula was applied, which is approximately 116 kcal/kg higher than the average design standard of 2,424 kcal/kg. The energy recovery rate was calculated as 96.9% on average based on production and 67.5% based on effective consumption, and the analysis shows that approximately 29.4% energy can be used.

  • This investigation was carried out to study on the generation property, management and seperate collection rate of solid waste in the Gu-Gok Falls. Generation rate of solid waste was 80.785kg/day and unit waste generation rates was $65.55g/day{\cdot}tourist$ one person. Physical component of solid waste were garbage 46%, papers 20%, empty bottles 10%, respectively. A plan is required to decrease generation rate of garbage waste. As result to investigate separated garbage can, papers and can were separated more than 60%. But empty bottles and scrap iron were separated less than 50%. P.E.T, steel can, aluminum can and empty bottles were 20% of total generation rate, and profit of reuse is \700,800/year.

  • The electrochemical oxidation process has been widely studied in the field of wastewater treatment for the decomposition of organic materials through oxidation using ·OH generated on the anode. Pt anode electrodes with high durability and long-term operability have a low oxygen evolution potential, making them unsuitable for electrochemical oxidation processes. Therefore, to apply Pt electrodes that are suitable for long-term operation and large-scale processes, it is necessary to develop a new method for improving the decomposition rate of organic materials. This study introduces a method to improve the decomposition rate of organic materials when using a Pt anode electrode in the electrochemical oxidation process for the treatment of organic decontamination liquid waste. Electrochemical decomposition tests were performed using sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) as a representative organic material and a Pt mesh as the anode electrode. Y2O3 particles were introduced into the electrolytic cell to improve the decomposition rate. The decomposition rate significantly improved from 21% to 99%, and the current efficiency also improved. These results can be applied to the electrochemical oxidation process without additional system modification to enhance the decomposition rate and current efficiency.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the performance of Modified Ludzsck Etinger (MLE) process with waste oyster shell media in aerobic tank. Influent flow was 36 L/d and the order of reactor was anoxic, aerobic and sedimentation tank and unit hydraulic retention time was 2 hr, 6 hr and 4 hr, respectively. Sludge recycling rate in sedimentation tank and internal recycling rate were 100%. Media fill rate in aerobic tank was 5%, 10% and 17% and fluid MLSS concentration in aerobic tank was 3000~4000 mg/L. Average TCOD removal rate was 91~93%, TBOD 92~96%, SS 95~96% and when media fill rate was 10% or more, in organic compound removal it could satisfy with wastewater discharge standard. Average total nitrogen removal rate was 70~76% and average total phosphorous removal rate was 58~65%. With media fill rate increasing, total phosphorous average removal rate also increased. For it was that released calcium ion from waste oyster shell reacted with soluble phosphorous. From these experiment results, the MLE process using waste oyster shell as media is a practical method for advanced sewage treatment in rural area.

  • With environmental regulations continuously being strengthened internationally the need to control environmental pollution and environmental load is emerging in Korea. The purpose of this study is to seek methods or using waste cementitious powder as an alternative raw material for limestone through the optimization of raw material and to quantitatively analyze the resulting reduction of $CO_2$ emission in order to contribute to solving the issue of waste, which is the biggest issue in relation to construction and global warming. The results of the study, show that waste cementitious powder can be used as an alternative raw material for limestone at OPC level, but it was also found that mixing fine aggregate cementitious powder into waste cementitious powder significantly affected the substitution rate for limestone with waste cementitious powder and the reduction of greenhouse gas. In particular, when fine aggregate cementitious powder was used at a rate of 0~20%, the substitution rate for limestone and the reduction in the rate of greenhouse gas emission was significantly reduced. It is thought that a technique to efficiently separate and discharge the fine aggregate cementitious powder mixed in waste cementitious powder needs to be developed in the future.

  • Environmental pollution problems are occurring in Jeju Island due to negative treatment of basalt waste. Measures for various approaches and utilization measures are needed to solve the problem of waste stones that occur during basalt processing. In this study, the Properties of permeable blocks with basalt were identified and the applicability and functionality as building materials were reviewed. This experiment is basic data for evaluating the functionality of the permeable block by manufacturing permeable blocks using basalt waste stones and analyzing flexural strength and compressive strength. The higher the basalt waste stone replacement rate, the lower the flexural strength and compressive strength, but it was judged that 20% of basalt waste stone replacement rate that satisfies the minimum flexural strength (4.0MPa) stipulated in KS F 4419 was appropriate. In addition, additional permeability coefficient and absorption rate experiments tended to increase as the basalt lung stone replacement rate increased. Therefore, it is judged that the permeable block using basalt waste stone is superior to the existing permeable block.

  • Recently, as the alternatives to preserve environment such as effective usage of wastes or unusable resources are drawing attentions, researches and measures for the two tasks, which are reuse of waste wood and development of eco-friendly materials, are being examined and established in various fields. However, they are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, for the efficient application of waste woods and eco-friendly effects, mortar was produced using sawdust as the waste wood and mineral material cement for combination, in order to produce inorganic boards using waste woods. which were made when sawing. This study attempted to suggest a basic material about the physical properties of mortar, which used waste woods, after examining the features of wood mixture rate, water-cement rate, consolation according to the mixture rate of the setting accelerator, specific gravity, compression intensity, and bending intensity as experiment factors.

  • Purpose: Methane production potential in aerobic digestion was assessed according to feed to inoculum (F/I) ratio for food waste only, and mixing ratio of two materials for food waste and swine manure to give a basic data for the design of anaerobic digestion system. Methods: Anaerbic digestion test was performed using a lab scale batch reactor at $35^{\circ}C$ for six different feed to inoculum (F/I) ratios (0.50, 0.72, 1.14, 1.50, 2.14 and 3.41), three food waste to swine manure ratios (100:0, 60:40 and 40:60) with two different loading concentrations (10g VS/L and 30g VS/L). Results: For food waste only, the highest biogas yield of 1008 mL/gVS was obtained at 0.50 of F/I. For the co-digestion of food waste and swine manure mixture, the highest biogas yield of 1148 mL/gVS was obtained at a mixing ratio of 40:60 with loading concentration of 10g VS/L. Conclusions: F/I ratio for the food waste only, mixing ratio of food waste and swine manure, and co-substrate loading rate affected the biogas production rate. For the low loading rate, there was not so much difference according to the mixing ratio of food waste and swine manure, but for the high loading rate higher biogas yield was acquired for the co-digestion of food waste and swine manure than for the food waste alone (mixing ratio, 100:0).

  • Energy recovery technology from municipal solid waste has been increasingly established in many countries. Anaerobic treatment of municipal sewage sludge has low digestion efficiency because of low organic loading rate of sewage sludge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate anaerobic biodegradability of food waste which was based on organic loading rate and seeding rate. From the results of anaerbic biodegration, the optimum condition for seeding rate was turn out over 40%, which did not inhibition of methane production.
