  • Recently drum washing machines are required to improve not only functions, but also endurance security. The spider is one of the major parts in a drum washing machine as a power transmission device. It is needed estimating for fatigue life because it rotates at high velocity when the drum washing machine works. In this study, we tried to estimate fatigue life of the Spider with CAE and verified the accuracy by comparing the CAE results with the experimental results. The estimation method of fatigue life for the spider with CAE will be applied to raise the efficiency of time and money in the design process of a new drum washing machine.

  • In home appliances, electric energy is optimally controlled by using power electronics technology, creating a comfortable environment in terms of energy saving, low sound generation, and reduced time consumption. Usually simplicity and robustness make the three phase induction motor attractive for use in domestic appliance, including washing machines. Two main fpes of domestic washing machine have evolved. We focus on the front loading machine favored in Europe, which has a horizontal drum axis. With the advent of electronic control, universal motor, with a phase controller operating directly from the ac source, has become popular in washing machine. The efficiency improvement in home appliances is very important for customers. Induction motor efficiency can be improved by means of loss reduction, which can be realized by motor selection and design, improvement of the waveforms supplied by power inverter, utilizing a suitable control method. So this paper describes the architecture and feature of washing machine fed induction motor drive under minimizing losses vector control.

  • The washing and cleaning the clothing has been considered one of the hardest task of house chores to house wife. It is still big drudgery of house keeping in the so-called high tech society. General statistics says the efforts for better washing condition has developed in minimal. It is hard task as it was before. This study is focusing the appliances for the labor reduction have developed favorably to work more effectively. In the context of home mechanization, it is very important to explore the process of the invent, development and design of washing machine. Another point of view for the washing machine is that it is one of the household artifacts, and we witness a specific character by analyzing how it was evolved. Research shows the invention, innovation, improvement and modification of the washing machine by areas and companies such as Miele and Maytag, where present established washing machine manufacturers around on Europe and USA.

  • For technical and economic reasons, the drum drive system employed in the domestic waking machines have traditionally been based on a combination of a high speed induction motor and a pulley and belt. This paper deals with washing machine drive based on an inverter fed induction motor. In this case, voltage is applied in proportion to frequency to achieve rated torque though the range. But scalar control such as V/f methode is somewhat simple to implement, but the inherent coupling effect given sluggish response. Therefore, this paper describes study on induction motor vector control for drum type washing machine.

  • Rapid development of electronic technology has made it possible to perform various function. But this technology made it increase it's complexity. Therefore, It was important to identify usability problem in interface design. The quality of interface to promote the efficient interaction should be evaluated with regard to users' cognitive characteristics. So, in this paper, washing machine, that is one of the most useful electronic home application was studied menu structure on interface and it's operational states transition. At first, an cognitive menu structure is identified with users' conceptual similarity of the main function of washing machine. Then three washing machines was selected to compare with the cognitive menu structure. And, we were analyzed how operational state of the washing machine was transfered. As a result, we can be revealed that menu operational method based on the cognitive structure was consistent with the user's preferred operational method during the experimental tasks and the users and designers had a different knowledge of an it's function structure. These results will be useful to design the washing machine interface.

  • The purpose of this research is to improve sustainable clothes care by comparing household washer's standard course and quick course. Detergency at each course was classified by laundry weight, detergent concentration, and soils. Also, fabric damage from each course was compared. Washing experiments were carried out using two types of washing machines and three types of detergents. Using the standard soiled fabrics of EMPA 108 set, detergency was compared by laundry weight, soil, and detergent concentration. Additionally, fabric damage was evaluated using the mechanical action of MA-40. The results of the research were as follows. First, a standard course, having more working time exhibited better detergency than a quick course. However, the detergency deviation under 6kg laundry weight was as low as 9.0%. Second, detergency by the type of soil was more effective in standard course than in a quick course, but hydrophilic protein soils had a small detergency deviation at 7.6%. Moreover, hydrophobic oil, complex, and particulate soils had a higher deviation at 19.7% Third, fabric damage was in proportion to operating time. Fourth, a quick course showed approximately 80% detergency regardless of the type of detergent. in the case of using 50% of the recommended allowance by the detergent manufacturer. In conclusion, reducing the operating washing time and detergent concentration is in accordance with increasing sustainability, in the case of washing with lightly soiled fabrics under 6kg of laundry weight.

  • This study is to compare and analyze the evaluation of cleaning cleanliness and usability according to the muscle activity and cleaning method in the wrist rotation motion when using a bottle washer for women with childbirth experience. To this end, when using an automatic bottle washer and a manual bottle washer, the muscle activity and cleaning cleanliness of the forearm muscles were quantitatively evaluated using equipment, and the effects of variables were analyzed and the following conclusions were obtained. First, it was found that the muscle activity was lower than that of the automatic baby bottle cleaner when using a manual bottle cleaner. Second, the cleanliness was judged to be the best in automatic washing (forward + reverse direction), followed by automatic washing (forward direction) and manual washing. Third, the usability evaluation of the use of the baby bottle washing machine showed higher satisfaction than that of the automatic baby bottle washing machine. Through these conclusions, this study can be used as basic data for product advancement in the future by proving the effectiveness of using an automatic bottle washer.
