Study on Warning Control Center suggestion for intrusion detection and prevention in the collaborated Cloud environment (협업 클라우드 환경에서 효율적인 침입 탐지 및 차단을 위한 Warning Control Center 제안에 관한 연구)

  • 세계가 주목하는 새로운 컴퓨팅 패러다임으로 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술이 주목받고 있다. 클라우드 컴퓨팅은 다양한 사용자의 특성 및 사용 목적에 따른 서비스를 제공한다. 최근에 서비스 되고 있는 협업 클라우드 시스템은 클라우드 간 오픈 API들을 통한 상호 운영성을 바탕으로 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 하지만 클라우드 시스템은 보안과 성능, 가용성 등 개선해야할 많은 부분이 많이 남아있고, 특히 협업된 환경에서는 하나의 클라우드에 대한 공격이 다른 클라우드에 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 이러한 특징을 고려한 침입탐지 및 차단을 위한 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문은 하이퍼바이저와 유기적으로 통신하는 Hypervisor Intrusion Detection Agent(HIDA)를 이용하여 위협을 탐지, 분석하고 Warning Control Center(WCC)이용하여 협업된 클라우드 시스템에 위험을 공유함으로써 기존 시스템에 비해 보다 개선된 보안성 및 가용성을 제공하는 방법을 제안하였다.

  • In this paper, we are going to develop a collision accident prevention technology that automatically recognizes more than 98% of workers and obstacles in 360° around them during work/high-speed movement/cabin rotation, guides collision warning and secures the driver's viewing angle.

  • In Korea, various studies on autonomous vehicles are being conducted with the aim of commercializing the fully autonomous driving (Lv.4) on major roads in 2027. Currently, the communication between non-autonomous vehicles and road users is made with gestures, eye contact, and verbal signals. In the case of autonomous vehicles in the future, autonomous vehicles should communicate instead of drivers. Recently, V2H communication technology (communication technology between autonomous vehicles and road users) is being developed. This study shows technology priorities using the KANO model in caution (warning) and traffic (concession) situations. As a result, a total of six attractive quality technologies were analyzed: technology to provide dark warning information in a display graphic; technology to provide dark warning information in a projection graphic; technology to provide light concession information in a display graphic; technology to provide dark concession information in a display graphic. In the future, it will investigate the preference of users in providing V2H information by road situation. It will be used as a V2H design priority.

  • Recent technological advances made a vehicle more intelligent to increase safety and comfort. An intelligent vehicle provides drivers with safety warning information through audible sounds, visual displays, and tactile devices. However, elderly drivers have been known to decrease the physical and cognitive abilities such as muscular strength, hearing, eyesight, short term memory, and spatial perception. Therefore, possible age-related deficits should be considered to design an effective warning system. This paper aims to evaluate the impact of advancing age on response performance on audible safety warnings which are widely used for alerting driving hazards. In order to understand the effect of age-related hearing loss and movement slowing, three sound characteristics (frequency, intensity, and period) and three age groups (younger, middle, and older) are considered. Data was drawn from 38 drivers who drove a simulated rural road in a driving simulator. Experimental results show that age influences driver's response performance. In conclusion, the appropriate range of a warning sound is suggested.

  • The exponential increase of malicious and criminal activities in cyber space is posing serious threat which could destabilize the foundation of modem information society. In particular, unexpected network paralysis or break-down created by the spread of malicious traffic could cause confusion and disorder in a nationwide scale, and unless effective countermeasures against such unexpected attacks are formulated in time, this could develop into a catastrophic condition. As a result, there has been vigorous effort and search to develop a functional state-level cyber-threat early-warning system however, the efforts have not yielded satisfying results or created plausible alternatives to date, due to the insufficiency of the existing system and technical difficulties. The existing cyber-threat forecasting and early-warning depend on the individual experience and ability of security manager whose decision is based on the limited security data collected from ESM (Enterprise Security Management) and TMS (Threat Management System). Consequently, this could result in a disastrous warning failure against a variety of unknown and unpredictable attacks. It is, therefore, the aim of this research to offer a conceptual design for "Knowledge-based Real-Time Cyber-Threat Early-Warning System" in order to counter increasinf threat of malicious and criminal activities in cyber suace, and promote further academic researches into developing a comprehensive real-time cyber-threat early-warning system to counter a variety of potential present and future cyber-attacks.

The Design and Implementation of the Collision Avoidance Warning Function in the Air Traffic Control System (항공관제 시스템에서 항공기 공중충돌 경고기능의 설계 및 구현)

  • An aircraft collision accident is a disaster that causes great losses of inventories and lives. Though a collision avoidance warning function is provided automatically to pilots in the aircrafts by the enhancement of the aircraft capability, achieving fast decision-making to escape a collision situation is a complex and dangerous work for pilots. If an in-flight collision situation is controlled by the air traffic control system which monitors all airplanes in the air, it would be more efficient to prevent in-flight collisions because it can handle the emergency before the pilot's action. In this paper, we develop the collision avoidance warning function in the air traffic control system. Specifically, we design and implement the five stages of the collision avoidance function, and propose a visualization method which could effectively provide the operators with the trajectories and altitudes of the aircrafts in a collision situation. By developing an in-flight collision warning function in the air traffic control system that visualizes flight patterns through the state transition data of in-flight aircrafts on the flight path lines, it can effectively prevent in-flight collisions with traffic alerts. The developed function allows operators to effectively select and control the aircraft in a collision situation by providing the operators with the expected collision time, the relative distance, and the relative altitude while assessing the level of alert, and visualizing the alert information which includes the Attention-Warning-Alert phase via embodying the TCAS standard. With the developed function the air traffic control system could sense an in-flight collision situation before the pilot's decision-making moment.

A Study on Algorithm for Aircraft Collision Avoidance Warning (항공기 충돌 회피 경고 알고리듬 연구)

  • CFIT(Controlled Flight Into Terrain) is one of the major causes of aircraft accidents. In order to solve this problem, GPWS(Ground Proximity Warning System) is used to generate terrain collision warning using the distance between the aircraft and the underneath ground. Since the GPWS uses the vertical clearance only, it frequently generates false warnings. In this study, a terrain/obstacle collision avoidance warning algorithm was developed for fast flying and highly maneuvering fighters using the flight status and the geographic information. This algorithm condsiders the overall delay in the aircraft reactive motion including the pilot's reaction time. The paper presents a detailed logic and test methods.

  • Economic growth, industrialization and urbanization have made society more vulnerable than ever to seismic hazard in Korea. Although Korea has not experienced severe damage due to earthquakes during the last few decades, there is little doubt of the potential for large earthquakes in Korea as documented in the historical literature. As we see no immediate promise of short-term earthquake prediction with current science and technology, earthquake early warning systems attract more and more attention as a practical measure to mitigate damage from earthquakes. Earthquake early warning systems provide a few seconds to tens of seconds of warning time before the onset of strong ground shaking. To achieve rapid earthquake location, we propose to take full advantage of information from existing seismic networks; by using P wave arrival times at two nearest stations from the earthquake hypocenter and also information that P waves have not yet arrived at other stations. Ten earthquakes in the Korean peninsula and its vicinity are selected for the feasibility study. We observed that location results are not reliable when earthquakes occur outside of the seismic network. Earthquakes inside the seismic network, however, can be located very rapidly for the purpose of earthquake early warning. Seoul metropolitan area may secure $10{\sim}50$ seconds of warning time before any strong shaking starts for certain events. Carefully orchestrated actions during the given warning time should be able to reduce hazard and mitigate damages due to potentially disastrous earthquakes.

  • The Great East Japan Earthquake left some implications. Especially the case of alerting by social media had present. This paper suggests system for posting earthquake information to microblog like twitter and me2day. Microblog is most efficient and effective social media. So, this system receive earthquake information from the Earthquake Broadcast System in the Korea Meteorological Administration and post the information to twitter and me2day. By this system, earthquake information can be notice easily and response can be checked.

  • The provision of warning information on upcoming hazards leading to potential crash occurrence is a significant countermeasure to prevent crashes on the highway. This study presents a methodology for selecting more effective warning messages using a multi-criteria value function. The understandability, preference level, and message reading time were used as measures of effectiveness (MOE) for messages. Expert judgements were incorporated into the value function by analytical hierarchical process (AHP) technique. Field experiments to evaluate the warning messages were conducted in a testbed section on the Jungboo-Naeryuk freeway. The proposed methodology would be a useful tool to support the design of various traffic information messages.
