Space Proposed in Accordance with the Usage Patterns and Analysis of the Charging Station Environment of Electric Vehicles

  • This study analyzed the electric vehicle recharging station status with recharging time limitation due to long waiting time, and figured out the user status by user interviews. And then this study verified the validity of hypothesis in terms of environmental design perspective and suggested layout of recharging station model. 21 recharging stations in Korea and station operation cases of 7 countries were examined. Except for the USA, the reality of electric vehicle recharging station today is the 1st proving stage focusing on the infrastructure construction of electric vehicle recharging station. It focuses on performance of recharging facility, use efficiency and operation environment of electric vehicle. About the effective waiting time of the user to use it should be studied. The current conditions of recharging station are as follows: Lack of independent recharging space, lack of facility that reduces external effect of recharging space, and lack of lounge for users during the waiting time. These three are essential factors constructing a suggesting model after basic layout, which needs proper measurement on the long recharging time and long waiting time. The essential factors are applied to electric vehicle recharging station layout so that users might use 'digital refresh" i.e. lounge and information contents service during the waiting time which provides convenience of recharging and emotional space with users. Such upgrade recharging station environmental model might resolve the burden of long recharging time which may contribute to the popularization of electric vehicles.

  • In a M/G/I queue where the server alternates between busy and idle periods, we assume that firstly customers arrive at the system according to a Poisson process and the arrival process and customer service times are mutually independent, secondly the system has infinite waiting room, thirdly the server utilization is less than 1 and the system has reached a steady state. With these assumptions, we analyze waiting times on the systems where some vacation policies are considered.

  • In this paper we consider an M/G/1 queueing system with vacation. The length of vacation period may be controlled by the waiting time of the first customer. The server goes on vacation as soon as the system is empty, and resumes service either when the waiting time of the leading customer reaches a predetermined value, or when the vacation period is expired, whichever comes first. We consider two types of vacation, say, multiple vacation type and N-policy type. We derive the steady-state distributions of the number of customers at arbitrary time and arbitrary customer's waiting time by means of decomposition property. Also, the mean lengths of busy period, idle period and a cycle time are given.

  • This paper presents a heuristic approach to derive the Laplace-Stieltjes transform (LST) and the probability generating function (PGF) of the waiting time distributions of a continuous- and a discrete-time GI/G/1 queue, respectively. This is a new idea to derive the well-known results, the waiting time distribution of GI/G/1 queue, in a different way.

First Job Waiting Times after College Graduation Based on the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey in Korea

  • Each year research institutions such as the Korea Employment Information Service(KEIS), a government institution established for the advancement of employment support services, and Job Korea, a popular Korean job website, announce first job waiting times after college graduation. This provides useful information understand and resolve youth unemployment problems. However, previous reports deal with the time as a completely observed one and are not appropriate. This paper proposes a new study on first job waiting times after college graduation set to 4 months prior to graduation. In Korea, most college students hunt for jobs before college graduation in addition, the full-fledged job markets also open before graduation. In this case the exact waiting time of college graduates can be right-censored. We apply a Cox proportional hazards model to evaluate the associations between first job waiting times and risk factors. A real example is based on the 2008 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS).

  • We consider M/G/1 queue in which the customers are classified into n+1 classes by their impatience time. First, we analyze the model of two types of customers; one is the customer with constant impatience duration k and the other is patient customer. The expected busy period of the server and the limiting distribution of the virtual waiting time process are obtained. Then, the model is generalized to the one in which there are classes of customers according to their impatience duration.

Optimization of theM/M/1 Queue with Impatient Customers

  • An optimization of the M/M/1 queue with impatient customers is studied. The impatient customer does not enter the system if his or her virtual waiting time exceeds the threshold K > 0. After assigning three costs to the system, a cost proportional to the virtual waiting time, a penalty to each impatient customer, and also a penalty to each unit of the idle period of the server, we show that there exists a threshold K which minimizes the long-run average cost per unit time.

  • We study the distributions of waiting times in variations of the geometric distribution of order k. Variation imposes length on the runs of successes and failures. We study two types of waiting time random variables. First, we consider the waiting time for a run of k consecutive successes the first time no sequence of consecutive k failures occurs prior, denoted by T(k). Next, we consider the waiting time for a run of k consecutive failures the first time no sequence of k consecutive successes occurred prior, denoted by J(k). In addition, we study the distribution of the weighted average. The exact formulae of the probability mass function, mean, and variance of distributions are also obtained.

컨테이너 터미널의 이론적 대기율과 실제 대기율 비교에 관한 연구: 부산항 신항 A 터미널을 대상으로 (A Study on the Gap between Theoretical and Actual Ship Waiting Ratio of Container Terminals: The Case of a Terminal in Busan New Port)

  • 컨테이너 터미널의 선박대기율에 관한 정부의 공식적 발표가 없는 상황에서 부산항 컨테이너 터미널의 선박 입항척수는 연 2.9%이상 증가하고 있다. 컨테이너 터미널의 선석 혼잡이 발생하고 있지만 실제 선박대기율 및 평균 대기시간은 측정되지 않고 있어 터미널 운영 정책 결정에 어려움이 예상된다. 본 연구는 항만시설사용실적자료와 터미널운영데이터자료를 통해 컨테이너 터미널의 대기율을 공인된 대기시간으로 산정하고자 한다. 이를 통해 컨테이너터미널의 선박대기율 측정 방식을 제안하고 터미널의 실제 대기율과 대기행렬이론상의 대기율을 비교하여 차이가 어떻게 발생하는지를 밝혀내고자 한다. 분석결과, 부산항 A터미널의 최근 3년간(2014~2016) 발생한 대기 척수는 총 587척이며, 월평균 16.3척의 대기선박이 발생하는 것으로 나타났으며 대기율은 123.9%를 보이고 있다. 반면, 행렬이론상의 대기율과 실제 터미널의 대기율을 비교하였으며, 점유율 70%일 때 대기행렬이론상 대기율은 31.1%이 도출되었다. 이러한 차이가 나는 이유로는 항만의 특성상 입항선박이 많은 피크요일로 인한 것이라 추정된다. 피크요일 시 대기척수를 조사한 결과, 일요일 197척, 화요일 89척, 수요일 89척의 선박이 대기한 것으로 나타났다.

대기시간 관리와 메뉴품질이 한식뷔페의 고객만족과 재방문에 미치는 영향 (Study on the Effect of a Waiting Time Management and Menu Quality for Customer Satisfaction and Re-visit Intentions in Korean Buffet Restaurants)

  • The Korean buffet restaurant, which was developed by combining the Korean food and a buffet, allows a large menu to be enjoyed at a reasonable price and has become popular with men and women, young and old, and become a new type of eating out. This study examined the effects of the waiting time management and menu quality on the customer satisfaction and re-visit intention in a Korean buffet restaurant to help quality improvement and development of Korean buffet restaurants. The customer satisfaction and re-visit intention only had a significant effect on the staff attitude toward waiting time. Hygiene, sensory factor, and variety of menu quality were significantly related to customer satisfaction and re-visit intention, respectively. In addition, satisfaction with food and service had a significant effect on the re-visit intention and customer satisfaction. Therefore, it is important to establish a virtuous cycle structure that will improve the re-visit intention by satisfying customers through waiting time management and menu quality for the development of Korean buffet restaurants.
