  • The conventional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) driver for LCD TV has a transformer for each lamp to step up the high sinusoidal waveform from the low input voltage. The transformer used in the conventional topology causes the driver to have bulky size and high cost. This paper proposes a new transformer-less CCFL driver for LCD backlight that is based on the parallel-loaded resonant inverter topology. This resonant topology enables the circuit to supply enough high voltage for CCFL without a transformer. Also, with current-balancing technique, this transformer-less inverter drives 16 CCFL lamps.

  • 본 논문에서는 친환경자동차의 구동배터리 충 방전을 위한 새로운 고승압 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 작은 듀티로 높은 승압이 가능하고 수동소자의 에너지량이 작아진다. 또한 전압 정격이 출력전압의 약 1/2이 되어 MOSFET의 사용이 가능하게 되어 스위칭주파수를 높일 수 있어 부피저감이 가능하다. 제안한 컨버터를 기존의 하프 브리지 양방향 컨버터와 비교 분석하고 2kW의 시작품을 제작하여 제안하는 컨버터의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • An active-clamped current-fed half-bridge converter for the high step-up application is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is composed of active clamping snubber circuits and a voltage doubler rectifier. The operational principle, theoretical analysis, and design considerations are presented. To confirm the operation, features, and validity of the proposed circuit, the experimental result for a 200W, 24V input and 400V output prototype are presented.

  • A pulse transformer producing pulses with the peak power of 200-MW (400 kV 500 A at load side with $4.4{\mu}s$ flat-top) is required to drive the 80-MW pulsed klystron in the PLS linac. We have designed and manufactured the high power pulse transformer with 1 : 17 turn ratio. Its primary functions are to match the impedance of klystron tube to the modulators, and to provide step-up of the voltage. To obtain a fast rise time of the pulse voltage. Low leakage inductance and low distributed capacitance design is very important. In this paper, we discuss the equivalent circuit analysis of the pulse transformer, and present the full power performance test results of pulse transformer.

  • Rosen type piezoelectric transformer for LCD backlight operated at high voltage and low current, may not be sucessfully used for illuminating general fluorescent lamps because low voltage and high current are required. In this study, the piezoelectric transformer with width vibration mode operated at low voyage and high current was designed for the application of fluorescent lasso ballast. The step-up ratio and efficiency as a function of the load resistance in the piezoelectric transformer indicated that the transformer can be effectively used for the electronic ballast for low profile fluorescent lamp.

  • This paper suggested a fuel cell generation system which combined interleaved full-bridge converter with half-bridge inverter. High ratio step-up converter is essential to use the power as general voltage source. Full-bridge converter has high efficiency and can boost the input voltage to high output with transformer. With series connected capacitors, interleaved full-bridge converter and half-bridge inverter are combined. Half-bridge inverter has two fewer switches compared to full-bridge type. Also, switching loss can be reduced. The performance is verified through simulation with 1.5[kW] fuel cell generation system.

  • 본 논문에서는 넓은 범위의 입력전압에서의 빠른 응답속도를 가진 고승압 양방향 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 2대의 Buck컨버터와 SRC(Seris Resonant Covnerter)로 구성된 3-stage 구조이며, 고승압이 가능하고 넓은 입력전압 범위에서 고효율을 성취할 수 있다. 또한 제안하는 컨버터는 모든 전압범위에서 빠른 응답속도로 제어를 하며 CC(Constant Current), CV(Constant Voltage), CP(Constant Power) 및 Pulse 동작을 수행한다. 제안하는 양방향 컨버터의 1.8kW급 시작품으로 실험을 통하여 타당성을 검증하였고, 최고효율 96%, 정격효율 90.8%를 달성하였다.

  • This study proposes a new soft-switching three-level flying capacitor converter with low filter inductance. The proposed converter can achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on of all switches by using auxiliary components La and Ca. It can also reduce filter inductance because the applied voltage of the filter inductor is decreased by using the flying capacitor. Furthermore, filter inductance can be reduced because the operating frequency of the filter inductor is doubled by the phase shifting between switches S3 and S4. The operation principle, design of passive components for ZVS turn-on, interleaving effects, and comparison of different topologies are presented. The experimental waveforms of a 1 kW two-phase interleaved converter prototype are provided to verify the validity of the proposed converter.

  • This paper deals with an electronic ballast for hish intensity short-arc discharge lamps, which consists of a boost converter, a step down converter operated as a current source with power regulation and a low frequency inverter with external ignition circuit The ignition circuit generates high voltage pulses of 130[Hz] up to 5 [kV]. A reignition circuit is equipped in the ballast, and it operates the lamp at a regular interval for protection when an ignition fails. Acoustic resonance phenomenon was eliminated by operating a low frequency square wave voltage and current. The measured lamp voltage, current and consumption power were 123.8 [V], 8.1 [A] and 1,002 [W], respectively. From the experiment, we confirmed that the prototype ballast operates the lamp with a constant power.

Evaluation of Solar Cell Properties of Poly-Si Thin Film Fabricated with Novel Process Conditions for Solid Phase Crystallization (고상 결정화법을 위한 새로운 공정조건으로 제작된 다결정 Si 박막의 태양전지 특성 평가)

  • Amorphous Si (a-Si) thin films of $p^+/p^-/n^+$ were deposited on $Si_3N_4$/glass substrate by using a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method. These films were annealed at various temperatures and for various times by using a rapid thermal process (RTP) equipment. This step was added before the main thermal treatment to make the nuclei in the a-Si thin film for reducing the process time of the crystallization. The main heat treatment for the crystallization was performed at the same condition of $600^{\circ}C$/18 h in conventional furnace. The open-circuit voltages ($V_{oc}$) were remained about 450 mV up to the nucleation condition of 16min in the nucleation RTP temperature of $680^{\circ}C$. It meat that the process time for the crystallization step could be reduced by adding the nucleation step without decreasing the electrical property of the thin film Si for the solar cell application.
