Due to rapid progress in the performance of high-end computers, numerical prediction of fluid flow and flow-induced sound is expected to become a vital tool for aero- and hydro- dynamic design of various flow-related products. This presentation focuses on the applications of large-scale numerical simulations to complex engineering problems with a particular emphasis placed on the low-speed flows. Flow field computations are based on a large eddy simulation that directly computes all active eddies in the flow and models only those eddies responsible for energy dissipations. The sound generated from low-speed turbulent flows are computed either by direct numerical simulation or by decoupled methods, according to whether or not the feedback effects of the generated sound onto the source flow field can be neglected. Several numerical examples are presented in order to elucidate the present status of such computational methods and discussion on the future prospects will also be given.

As woman receive many stress during pregnancy and delivery, they happen to contract to psychopathy like a postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a serious problem if they are not treated early enough the unhappy seriousness can be resulted. A 32-yeared-old female patient with postpartum depression was taken to Dongshin University oriental medical hospital on April, 28, 2003. We diagnosed this patient as postpartum depression, which originated from and efficiency of vital energy and blood. We treated this postpartum depression patient with herb medicine(Cami-Boheo-tang),acupuncture, moxibustion, and psychical therapy. After the oriental medical treatments, the patient was improved in all complains of the postpartum disease. After this, further study and approach will be needed about the disease of the postpartum depression.

Proper pretest planning is a vital component of any successful vibration test on engineering structures. The most important issue in dynamic testing of many engineering structures is arriving at the number and optimal placement of sensors. The sensors must be placed on the structure in such a way that all the important dynamic behaviour of a structural system is captured during the course of the test with sufficient accuracy so that the information can be effectively utilised for structural parameter identification or health monitoring. Several optimal sensor placement (OSP) techniques are proposed in the literature and each of these methods have been evaluated with respect to a specific problem encountered in various engineering disciplines like aerospace, civil, mechanical engineering, etc. In the present work, we propose to perform a detailed characteristic evaluation of some selective popular OSP techniques with respect to their application to practical civil engineering problems. Numerical experiments carried out in the paper on various practical civil engineering structures indicate that effective independence (EFI) method is more consistent when compared to all other sensor placement techniques.

Objective : This study was designed to investigate causes, symptoms and treatments for the Chronic rhinorrhea of children with oriental medical literatures. Methods : We surveyed the oriental and western medical books from to recent published books that have articles on Chronic rhinorrhea. Results and Conclusions : The Chronic rhinorrhea are classified to Bigu and Biruan(鼻淵). Bigu is similar to Allergic Rhinitis and Biyan(鼻淵) is similar to Chronic Sinusitis. The external cause of disease is the invasion of Poong han(風寒) etc a wrong air and the internal causes of disease are the deficiency of the spleen, lung and kidney and inner heat caused by stress. Treatment in Oriental medicine consists of herbal-therapy, acupuncture and moxa. The methods of treatment are expelling of Poong han(風寒) in the early stage and helping the vital energy in the late stage.

Uterine bleeding is a physiologic monthly event occuring during the reproductive period of the nonpregnant woman. As with any other physiologic event, normal women have different menstrual patterns and at times, it is difficult to define when normality ends and abnormality begins. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is an all-inclusive term: its diagnosis usually bepends on the exclusion of local or systemic organic causes. The term dysfunctional refers to alterations in the physiologic mechanism controlling a multitude of cyclic events in the women's reproductive function. These mechanism are primarily neuroendocrine in nature. According to oriental medicine, the Metrorrhagia(崩漏) means an abnormal bleeding of femail genetalia, and is devided to bungjung and bungha. The etiological factors of metrorrhagia are heat of blood, asthenic coldness, asthenia of chong and ren channels, deficiency of blood, deficiency of vital energy, stagnated blood, and asthenia of spleen & stomach.

This study analyze of reflection wave to Acoustic stimulation on acupoints and contrast parts for objectification of the meridian substance. In order to verify meridian pathway and channel theory of bio-energy in body. It was analyzed response characteristic of reflection waves after acoustic stimulation by sound wave of 5 specific tones. The response characteristics of reflection are measured by the average current magnitude of meridian. The current variation ratio are Live Meridian(gung) 33.2%, Heart Meridian(sang) 30.7%, Kidney Meridian (gak) 33.1%, Spleen Meridian(chi) 33.9%, Lung Meridian (wo) 30.7% compare with contrast parts (non-acupoint and meridian). Therefore meridian is distinguished to non-meridian and 5 vital meridians have relationship with sound wave of 5 specific tones.

Optimal nutrition serves to maintain normal organ function and to preserve body energy stores to guarantee survival during times of shortage of food. Adequate nutrition of intensive care unit (ICU) patients improves outcome, while malnutrition is strongly associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates among critically ill patients. Previously published researches showed that trials of nutritional support in critical illness rarely fulfill basic quality requirements. Nutrition support plays a vital role in the prevention and treatment of nutritional deficiencies in at-risk, critically ill patients. This paper reviewed the challenges in determining critically ill patients' nutrition requirements including nutrition assessment, determination of caloric requirements then providing them with adequate nutrition support while in the ICU with the guidelines published by Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. Nutrition support can be effectively enhanced by using the guidelines.

This study is on Yoshimasu Todo's thought of medicines. Conclusions are as below. Medicines are poisons. Therefore, they don't have the ability to restore the vital energy. Medicine-processing(法製) can only be done for doubling the toxicity, since the poison itself is the very effect of a medicine. One poison has an ability to treat only one main symptom. If the poison strikes the main symptom right, it doesn't harm the human body. Since warm-heat-cool-cold(溫熱凉寒) of a medicine can't be known by human ability, it can't be used as the standard of judgment when selecting a medicine.

This study was performed to investigate the gastric cancer through the journal of oriental medicine since 1990. The following results have been obtaied. 1. The Herb-medication in Gastric Cancer was composed to the oral-method and the injection-method. but, the oral-method was major and the injection-method rarely used. 2. In the treatment of Gastric Cancer, the Herb-medication that copperated with the operation and chemotherahpy was much more used 3. In the oriental medical therapy, the therapy for invigoration(補法) was common used. and the therapy for regulating vital energy(理氣), removing blood stasis(祛瘀), relieving pain(止痛), clearing away the heat evil (淸熱), removing toxic material(解毒) was used. 4. The following Herb was much more used to threat the Gastric Cancer.

Remarkably improvements have occurred recently in the maintenance management of physical assets and productive systems, so that less wastages of energy and resources occur. The technology of maintenance is about finding and applying cost-effective ways of avoiding or overcoming performance deterioration. Maintenance is thus a vital support function in business, especially as increasingly large investments are being required in physical assets. TPM(Total Productive Maintenance) focuses on optimizing planning scheduling. Availability, performance and quality rate are other factors that affect productivity. Especially there are some losses that affect the overall equipment effectiveness(OEE). These losses lead to low values of OEE, which provides an indication of how effective the production precess is. This study explores the ways in which Korean small and medium manufacturing industries can improve OEE.
