  • In this paper, we have fabricated the position detection system with LED and optical sensor to detect a position and trace of robot through visible light communication (VLC). The fabricated position detection system did not have been affected by sunlight in outdoor and a fluorescent light in building. Because 4 LEDs, respectively, transmitted different signals, we have known the position of robot. And we have also observed a trajectory of robot in real time.

  • In this paper, channel modeling of VLC(Visible Light Communication) was investigated under indirect lightning circumstance which was the way that all phontons started from LED(Light Emitting Diode) were reached on the floor with NLOS paths. I supposed width(6m), depth(4m), height(2.2m) cube room circumstance for VLC communication channel and supposed that 4 LEDs were located at 2m height, which emitted photons at the direction of wall and ceiling. Channel characteristics, which were power attenuation and delayed receiving of light signal, were abstracted from receivers(PDs) which were located at 0.5m above from floor. The availability of channel was verified via BPSK based communication simulation.

  • Visible light communication(VLC) system based on LED devices has some specific advantages compared with RF system. First, visible light is harmless to human and there is no limit to using frequency band. Also, VLC system has good security performance, and it can use the very wide frequency band for data transmission. However, for simultaneously using the illumination and data transmission in VLC systems, degradation of code rate is occurred. So, in this paper, we proposed the novel line coding scheme for flicker free and efficient dimming control in VLC systems. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that proposed scheme has good flicker, dimming, and transmission performance compared to conventional variable pulse position modulation(VPPM) scheme.

  • Visible light communication (VLC) is considered to be an attractive scheme to realize the broadband wireless communication for an indoor environment. We present a room division multiplexing (RDM) mechanism for an indoor multi-room VLC network, which utilizes the spatial position of the LED lamp in different rooms as a novel dimension of network resource for multiplexing, and thus the network capacity is increased. In such a network, the service interruption caused by user cross-room movement is an important problem, and we propose a double-area-positioning based cross-room switch solution. An experimental platform demonstrates the RDM-deployed VLC network, and validates the performance of the presented switch mechanism.

  • These days, research related to Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology is being widely considered. ITS is inevitable for future transportation systems to reduce accidents, congestion, and offer a smooth flow of traffic. The use of Visible Light Communication (VLC) in ITS systems has been considered widely because of its EMC/EMI free and LED infrastructure reusable properties. Among the VLC schemes, this study analyzed the performance of the Color Shift Keying (CSK) scheme under a Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) downlink scenario to verify the capability of CSK as a communication tool for ITS. By modeling daylight noise using the modified Blackbody radiation model, this study examined the performance of V2I VLC under daytime conditions. The relationship between BER, the communication distance, and the amount of ambient-light noises under the pre-described V2I scenario were determined by simulations.

  • Priority MAC is an important issue in every communication system when we consider differentiated service applications. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to support priority MAC based on multi-parameters for IEEE 802.15.7 visible light communication (VLC). By using three parameters such as number of backoff times (NB), backoff exponent (BE) and contention window (CW), we provide priority for multi-level differentiated service applications. We consider beacon-enabled VLC personal area network (VPAN) mode with slotted version for random access algorithm in this paper. Based on a discrete-time Markov chain, we analyze the performance of proposed mechanism under non-saturation environments. By building a Markov chain model for multi-parameters, this paper presents the throughput and transmission delay time for VLC system. Numerical results show that we can apply three parameters to control the priority for VLC MAC protocol.

  • Visible light communication(VLC) is one type of short-range, optical, and wireless communication system utilizing light emitting diode(LED) and laser diode(LD) as optical source. In a VLC system, visible light is used as a transmission medium and used to illuminate. Using VLC has a lot of advantages: it is harmless to human body; it transmits with high power, and it has excellent security, a high data rate, and a license free frequency band. With such a unique blend of communication and illumination in one system, the most common application would be an indoor environment. We aim at reviewing key issues in VLC network such as : FOV(field of view), priority MAC, cooperative MAC, link switching, LED-ID technique, cell site diversity, and link recovery.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new dimming control method in a visible light communication (VLC) system wherein byteinversion is adopted for flicker-free transmission. In the VLC transmitter, the original and the inverted data were sent sequentially and the remnant time in one period was used for the dimming control of the LED light. In the VLC receiver, only the original data was recovered using the gating signal whose width was the same as the length of the original data. In our experiments, the dimming control ranges were measured to be 22%-53%, 11%-76%, and 5%-88% of the CW LED light when the data rates were 9.6, 19.2, and 38.4 kbps, respectively. In this system, we used a 240-Hz sync pulse whose period was 4.16 ms, which was shorter than the maximum flickering time period of 5 ms that is generally considered to be safe. This configuration is very simple and useful in constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using the flicker-free LED lamps with dimming control capability.

  • Visible light communication (VLC) offers communication function in addition to illumination. Because the signal communication capacity per cable is 1,000 times compared to the power line communication (PLC), optical fiber is being advertised as the basis of the information and communication. Also dimming control of LED is an important component needed to provide energy savings and quality of life. This study configured multi-hop VLC system model in a building using optical fiber and analyzed the power performance of two of modulations using dimming techniques. The transmission power and received power were used to compare the power performance in multi-hop VLC environments.

The error rate measured a voltage variable along illuminate change between switchable circumstances, which has illuminated insight and outright. Each analyzed and measurement on the communication distance errors along the differences of disturbance light between night and days. The LED module has implemented for number of 6 through illumination dimming in case of different values. Also, implementation for the system module of a VLC transceiver based on the infrared sensors which used feedback outcome value has analyzed with error rate.
