MAGNETIC FIELD DEPENDENCE OF MAGNETIZATION REVERSAL BEHAVIOR IN Co/Pt MULTILAYERS.

  • Magnetic field dependence of magnetization reversal in Co/Pt multilayers has been quantitatively investigated. Serial samples of Co/Pt multilayers have been prepared by dc-magnetron sputtering under various Ar pressure. Magnetization reversal was monitored by magnetization viscosity measurement and direct domain observation using a magneto-optical microscope system, and the wall-motion speed and the nucleation rate R were determined using a domain reversal model based on time-resolved domain reversal patterns. Both and R were found to be exponentially dependent on the reversing applied field. From the exponential dependencies, the activation volumes of the wall motion and nucleation could be determined based on a thermally activated relaxation model, and the wall-motion activation volume was revealed to be slightly larger than the nucleation activation volume.

  • 1) The copolymerzation of acrylamide $(M_1)$ with styrene $(M_1)$ was studied in absolute methanol solution at $50^{\circ}C$, using azobisisobutyronitrile as a initiator. The monomer reactivity ratios determined at $50^{\circ}C$ were as follows: $r_1=0.2,\;r_2=1.05$ and from these values, Q and e values for acrylamide were calculated as 0.37$(Q_1)$ and 0.45 $(e_1)$. 2) Overall activation energy of copolymer was calculated to 24.3K/cal mol, using the Arrhenius epuation. 3) Measurement of intrinsic viscosity and observation of physical properties were made on the copolymer.

  • We developed a new measuring equipment which makes it possible to perform on-line measurements with the merits of its implicity and the time-saving characteristics. By using the newly developed measurement system, the amount of aeration is directly measured on several parameters, i.e, engine speed, oil quantity, oil deterioration, oil temperature and viscosity, etc. It showed that oil aeration is strongly related to be gas movements in crankcase and the residence time of circulating oil in oil pan. In addition, in order to clarify the mechanism of aeration and to quantify the degree of aeration, a modelling analysis to predict aeration was performed , and as a guiding parameter, Aeration Index was defined. Finally, the parameter was compared with the actual amount of aeration, and it was confirmed that they gave a good correlation with each other.

  • A visualization study of flow characteristics in a mixer using multi-nozzle bubbling was performed. The mixer is filled with liquid glycerin (dynamic viscosity = $1000mPa{\cdot}$ s at $25^{\circ}C$) and convective mixing is induced by air bubbles generated from 9 orifices installed on the bottom of the mixer. To visualize the flow field, PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system consisting of 532nm Nd:YAG laser, $2k\times2k$ CCD camera and synchronizer is adopted. The bubbles generated with uniform size and frequency form bubble stream, and bubble streams rise vertically without interaction between bubble streams. Mixing efficiency is affected by the height of bubbler and the effective height of bubbler is 20mm from the bottom of the mixer.

Unequal Activation Volumes of Wall-motion and Nucleation Process in Co/Pt Multilayers

벤토나이트 그라우트의 열물성 측정 및 열물성이 수직 지중열교환기 설계 길이에 미치는 영향 (Thermal Property Measurement of Bentonite-Based Grouts and Their Effects on Design Length of Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger)

  • In a ground-source heat pump (GSHP) system, a vertical ground heat exchanger (GHE) is widely accepted due to a higher thermal performance. In the vertical GHE, grout (also called grouting material) plays an important role in the heat transfer performance and the initial installation cost of the GHE. Bentonite-based grout has been used in practice because of its high swelling potential and low hydraulic conductivity. This study evaluated the thermo-physical properties of the bentonite-based grouts through lab-scale measurements. In addition, we conducted performance simulation to analyze the effect of mixed ratio of grouts on the design length and thermal performance of the vertical GHE. The simulation results show that thermally-enhanced grouts improve the heat transfer performance of the vertical GHE and thus reduce the design length of GHE pipe.

엔진오일의 화학적 및 물리적 변화에 의한 퇴화정도와 유전상수 변화에 관한 상호관계 연구 - 가솔린엔진오일 (Study on Mutual Relation between the Level of Deterioration Influenced by the Changes of Chemical and Physical Properties and the Change of Dielectric Constant for Engine Oil - Gasoline Engine Oil)

  • The dielectric constants of used gasoline engine oils were obtained at a few temperatures and a frequency. Through analyzing the characteristics of dielectric constant, the related correlation between the changes in dielectric constants of oil and the degree of oil deterioration is going to be found. The dielectric constant was calculated using cross capacitances measured by a sensor tube. As results of the measurement of the fresh engine oil's dielectric constant, it was found that the value of dielectric constant was set down below $60^{\circ}C$ regardless changing frequency. Further, above 6 kHz, the dielectric constant was set down even if temperature was above $100^{\circ}C$ Therefore, for the measurement of used oils, it was selected the frequency of 6 kHz,,and the temperature of $80^{\circ}C$ preventing a certain ionic-conduction effects on the measured dielectric constant and the evaporation of a certain fluid mixed with engine oil. Specially, the effects of the mixing fluid like coolant, water and fuel on the fresh engine oil's dielectric constant were studied. It was found that the oil mixed with coolant showed the highest value, next water, and the lowest fuel. As results of the measurement of the used engine oil's dielectric constant, it was found that the possible changed rate of the used engine oil's dielectric constant based on the warning limit for engine oil in service was below 4% for gasoline engine oil.

粘性度 및 密度測定에 依한 Dodecyle Pyridinium Chloride 水溶液의 第二 CMC에 關한 硏究 (Viscosity and Density Studies on the Second CMC of the Aqueous Solution of Dodecyl Pyridinium Chloride)

  • Dodecyl pyridinium chloride(DPC) 水溶液의 粘性度 및 密度硏究로 이 溶液에는 第一 cmc 外에 第二 cmc가 存在함을 알 수 있었다. 水化된 미셀의 부피分率${\phi}_m$은 다음 式에 따라 算出하였다. ${\Pi}_{rm}=1+2.5{\phi}_m+14.1{\phi}_m^2{\cdot}{\phi}_m-C_m$ 曲線에서 ${\phi}_m$m의 增加率은 第二 cmc 近處에서 減少되고 또 密度測定으로부터 얻은 partial specific volume($\={v}$)도 第二 cmc 近處에서 급격히 減少되고 그以上의 濃度에서는 一定値를 維持함을 알았다. 이것은 미셀의 集合型의 變化 및 미셀과 結合하고 있는 반대이온의 減少로 因한 第二 cmc에서의 미셀構造變化에 依한 것이라고 생각된다.

전기방사법에 의한 NiZn 페라이트 나노섬유의 제조 및 특성 연구 (Preparation and Characterization of NiZn-Ferrite Nanofibers Fabricated by Electrospinning Process)

  • Electrospinning process is the useful and unique method to produce nanofibers from metal precursor and polymer solution by controlled viscosity. In this study, the NiZn ferrite nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning with a aqueous metal salts/polymer solution that contained polyvinyl pyrrolidone and Fe (III) chloride, Ni (II) acetate tetrahydrate and zinc acetate dihydrate in N,N-dimethylformamide. The applied electric field and spurting rate for spinning conditions were 10 kV, 2 ml/h, respectively. The obtained fibers were treated at $250^{\circ}C$ for 1 h to remove the polymer. Finally, the NiZn ferrite fibers were calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ for 3 h and annealed at $900{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ in air. By tuning the viscosity of batch solution before electrospinning, we were able to control the microstructure of NiZn ferrite fiber in the range of $150{\sim}500\;nm$ at 770 cP. The primary particle size in $600^{\circ}C$ calcined ferrite fiber was about 10 nm. The properties of those NiZn ferrite fibers were determined from X-ray diffraction analysis, electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and magnetic measurement.
