  • AAA, an information-protective protocol authorizes the degree of service and rights to the user through a safe and reliable authentication. The protocol also systematically manages the accounting functions including billing, monitoring, and reporting using the user information. After a topology was created to design a network based on a router and server using RADIUS and TACACS+, a common virtual network was made using a packet tracker. This paper presents cases showing valid authentication through simulations.

  • As the volume of internet rapidly increases, the number of IPv4 addresses available is quickly declining, while transition to IPv6 is being delayed. As a interim solution, Variable-Length Subnet Masking(VLSM) addressing scheme, which varies the length of each IP address allowing more efficient, is being used. This paper suggests effective example of network based on virtual network with topology designed using VLSM charting rather than usual theoretical approach in VLSM, which allows more efficient use of address space.

  • A new type of auto-rotary PM mechanical flux-varying PM machine (ARPMMFVPMM) is proposed in this paper, which can overcome the problem where the air-gap magnetic field of a PM machine is difficult to freely adjust. The topology structures of the machine and the mechanical flux-adjusting device are given. In addition, the operation principle of flux-adjusting is analyzed in detail. Furthermore, the deformation of a spring with the speed variation is obtained by virtual prototype technology. Electromagnetic characteristics including the flux distribution, air gap flux density, flux linkage, electromagnetic-magnetic-force (EMF), and flux weakening ability are computed by 2D finite element method (FEM). Results show that the machine has some advantages such as the good field control ability.

  • The inverse dynamic equations for 5 link robot including a closed chain have been derived. The closed chain is virtually cut open, and the kinematics and dynamics of the virtual open chain robot are analyzed. The constraints are applied to the virtually cut joints by the Jacobian matrix which represents the configuration of the closed chain. The topology of tree structrued open chain robot is described by a FATHER array. The FATHER array of a link indicates the link tha tis connected in the direction of base link. Based on the inverse dynamic equations, the torque sensitivity models of the 5 link robot have been developed. The sensitivity models characterize the sensitivity of the driving torque with respect to the link parameters. All the procedures are illustrated through the 2 link robot.

  • This paper gives reviews on current research status in telecommunication network design. Two problems are identified as major research issues. One is the WDM network design problem, where traffic grooming, virtual topology design and routing and wavelength assignment problems are considered. The other is the OSPF weight setting problem which was proposed as a practical method to implement traffic engineering capability in IP networks. After presenting surveys on those problems, we discuss potential challenging research issues in telecommunication network design.

  • MANET is a network composed itself because mobile nodes are connected wirelessly. It has been applied to various fields for group communication. However, the dynamic topology by the movement of the nodes causes routing failure frequently because it is difficult to maintain the position information of the nodes participating in the group communication. Also, it has a problem that network performance is decreased due to high overhead for managing information of member nodes. In this paper, we propose a multicast technique using location-based 2-tier virtual group that is flexible and reliable in management of member nodes. The network is composed of cellular zones and the virtual group is constructed using the location information of the nodes in the proposed technique. The virtual group management node is selected to minimize the overhead of location information management for member nodes in the virtual group. In order to improve the reliability for management of member nodes and multicast data transmission, it excludes the gateway node with low transfer rate when setting the route after the packet transmission rate of the member nodes is measured. The excellent performance of the proposed technique can be confirmed through comparative experiments with AMroute method and PAST-DM method.

  • We propose a new approach to accommodate bidirectional asymmetric traffic demands as well as unexpected dynamic internet traffic variation in the WDM mesh network by using optical networking technologies. In the proposed scheme, an intermediate node determines the optical path based on the switching statistics of IP router of the node which characterizes the Internet traffic variation, which in effect provides a dynamic and distributed traffic control over the network. It is expected to reduce the efficiency deterioration of RWA(Routing and Wavelength Assignment) due to the real-time variation of Internet traffic so that expandability and flexibility of the network can be enhanced. In this paper, we describe a methodology for traffic behavior analysis at a node, and the decision policy of the establishment/release of optical path. In addition, we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme through the computer simulations.
