Real-time 360 VR (Virtual Reality) stereo image acquisition technique based on game engine was proposed. However, GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) resource is not fully utilized due to bottlenecks. In this paper, we propose an improved GPU scheduling technique to solve the bottleneck of the existing technique and measure the performance of the proposed technique using the sample games of the commercial game engine. As a result, proposed technique showed an improvement of performance up to 70% and usage of GPU resources more evenly compared existing technique.

Driving simulators provide engineers with a power tool in the development and modification stages of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity obtained by a motion bed and a real-time visual image generation algorithm. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to enhance the fidelity of vehicle simulators. This paper develops the virtual environment for such visual system as head-mounted display for a vehicle driving simulator. Virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Based on the object model, a three-dimensional graphic model is completed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/ENGINEER. For real-time image generation, the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. The developed software for a virtual driving simulator offers an effective interface to virtual reality devices.
To organize training in limited training area for an actuai combat, realistic training simulation plugged in by various battle conditions is essential. In this paper, we propose a virtual target overlay technique which does not use a virtual image, but Projects a virtual target on ground-based CCD image by appointed scenario for a realistic training simulation. In the proposed method, we create a realistic 3D model (for an instructor) by using high resolution Geographic Tag Image File Format(GeoTIFF) satellite image and Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), and extract the road area from a given CCD image (for both an instructor and a trainee). Satellite images and ground-based sensor images have many differences in observation position, resolution, and scale, thus yielding many difficulties in feature-based matching. Hence, we propose a moving synchronization technique that projects the target on the sensor image according to the marked moving path on 3D satellite image by applying Thin-Plate Spline(TPS) interpolation function, which is an image warping function, on the two given sets of corresponding control point pair. To show the experimental result of the proposed method, we employed two Pentium4 1.8MHz personal computer systems equipped with 512MBs of RAM, and the satellite and sensor images of Daejoen area are also been utilized. The experimental result revealed the effective-ness of proposed algorithm.

It is necessary to improve the exactness and adaptation of the working environment in the intelligent robot system. The vision sensor have been studied for this reason fur a long time. However, it is very difficult to perform the camera and robot calibrations because the three dimensional reconstruction and many processes are required for the real usages. This paper suggests the image based visual servoing to solve the problem of old calibration technique and supports OLP(Off-Line-Programming) path compensation. Virtual camera can be modeled from the real factors and virtual images obtained from virtual camera gives more easy perception process. Also, Initial path generated from OLP could be compensated by the pixel level acquired from the real and virtual, respectively. Consequently, the proposed visually assisted OLP teaching remove the calibration and reconstruction process in real working space. With a virtual simulation, the better performance is observed and the robot path error is calibrated by the image differences.

A variety of VR contents are being introduced as of 2017. VR contents are concentrated in the genre of games and interactive because of the difficulty of $360^{\circ}$ shooting production environment. Live action $360^{\circ}$ VR content has many problems due to the difficulty of the production environment. In this paper, a three - dimensional information value is generated in binocular disparity of a real image by using a re-light technique based on real image data. The generated 3D information values are combined with a technique of converting the depth information into a depth map and a re-light technique by installing virtual lighting on the surface formed in the 3D space. In order to solve the problem of lighting exposure, we apply the technique of re-lighting to the VR production pipeline by comparing and analyzing the result image of actual image and virtual image data.
A technique is described for producing a virtual object with realistic motion. A 3-D human motion model is obtained by applying a developed motion capturing technique to a real human in motion. Factorization method is a technique for recovering 3-D shape of a rigid object from a single video image stream without using camera parameters. The technique is extended for recovering 3-D human motions. The proposed system is composed of three fixed cameras which take video images of a human motion. Three obtained image sequences are analyzed to yield measurement matrices at individual sampling times, and they are merged into a single measurement matrix to which the factorization is applied and the 3-D human motion is recovered ...

This paper represents a new approach which addresses quality degradation of a synthesized view, when a virtual camera moves forward. Generally, interpolation technique using only two neighboring views is used when a virtual view is synthesized. Because a size of the object increases when the virtual camera moves forward, most methods solved this by interpolation in order to synthesize a virtual view. However, as it generates a degraded view such as blurred images, we prevent a synthesized view from being blurred by using more cameras in multiview camera configuration. That is, we solve this by applying super-resolution concept which reconstructs a high resolution image from several low resolution images. Therefore, data fusion is executed by geometric warping using a disparity of the multiple images followed by deblur operation. Experimental results show that the image quality can further be improved by reducing blur in comparison with interpolation method.
The light source is an important visual component that empirically affects the color and illumination of graphic objects, and it is necessary to precisely store and appropriately employ the information of all light sources in the real world in order to obtain photo-realistic composition results. The information of real light sources can be accurately stored in HDR environment maps; however, it is impossible to create new environment maps corresponding to dynamic virtual light sources from a single HDR environment map captured under a fixed lighting situation. In this paper, we present a technique to dynamically generate well-matched information for arbitrarily selected virtual light sources using HDR environment maps created under predefined lighting position and orientation. Using the information obtained from light intensity and distribution analysis, our technique automatically generates HDR environment maps for virtual light sources via image interpolation. By applying the interpolated environment maps to an image-based lighting technique, we show that virtual light can create photo-realistically rendered images for graphic models.

In this paper, we propose algorithms for generating high quality virtual intermediate views on the baseline or out of baseline. In this proposed algorithm, depth information as well as 3D warping technique is used to generate the virtual views. The coordinate of real 3D image is calculated from the depth information and geometrical characteristics of camera and the calculated 3D coordinate is projected to the 2D plane at arbitrary camera position and results in 2D virtual view image. Through the experiments, we could show that the generated virtual view image on the baseline by the proposed algorithm has better PSNR at least by 0.5dB and we also could cover the occluded regions more efficiently for the generated virtual view image out of baseline by the proposed algorithm.
In this paper, we propose an improved image encryption and decryption method using a phase-encoded virtual image and interference. An original image is simply decrypted by interfering a reference wave with the wave passing through a decrypting key and the encrypted image, where every image has grey level. The proposed encryption is performed by the multiplication of an encrypting key and a phase-encoded virtual image which dose not contain any information for the original image. Therefore even if unauthorized people analyze the encrypted image, they cannot reconstruct the original image. Also grey image encryption can improve the encryption level compared to binary image encryption. Computer simulation and optical experiments confirmed that the proposed technique is a simple for optical encryption.
