Effects of Educational Content for Dental Extraction Using Virtual Reality Technology on Dental Extraction Knowledge, Skill and Class Satisfaction (가상현실 기술을 활용한 치아발치 교육콘텐츠가 치아발치에 관한 지식, 수행능력 및 실습만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the contents of tooth extraction education using VR(virtual reality) on knowledge, performance and satisfaction of practicing teeth. To accomplish this purpose, we divided 72 dental students into the two groups: The experimental group 30 dental students using VR based tooth extraction training contents. And the control group consisted of 42 participants. As a first result for the study, The experimental group using VR tooth extraction content and control group receiving the training using the tooth model based content showed no statistically significant difference in tooth extraction knowledge. Second, in the case of performance of tooth extraction (before tooth extraction-tooth extraction-after tooth extraction-finishing), the training group using VR tooth extraction contents was higher than the control group. Third, The satisfaction rate of the practice group using VR tooth extraction education contents was higher than in the control group. Therefore, it can be seen that the practical training using the VR applied tooth extraction contents improves the performance of the tooth extraction and the satisfaction of the practice more than the existing practice method.

Dynamic Response Analyses of Fixed Type Substructures for 2.5MW Class Offshore Wind Turbine

  • This paper explores a series of numerical simulations of dynamic responses of multi-piles (dolphin) type substructures for 2.5MW class offshore wind turbine. Firstly computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was performed to evaluate wave loads on the dolphin type substructures with the design wave condition for the west-south region of Korea. Numerical wave tank (NWT) based on CFD was adopted to generate numerically a progressive regular wave using a virtual piston type wave maker. It was found that the water-piercing area of piles of the substructure is a key parameter determining the wave load exerted in horizontal direction. In the next the dynamic structural responses of substructure members under the wave load were calculated using finite element analysis (FEA). In the FEA approach, the dynamic structural responses were able to be calculated including a deformable body effect of substructure members when wave load on each member was determined by Morison's formula. The paper numerically identifies dynamic response characteristics of dolphin type substructures for 2.5MW class offshore wind turbine.

VR Contents Design using Tangible Interaction (Tangible Interaction을 활용한 가상현실 콘텐츠 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • This paper studied tangible interaction design of VR platform and its applications that are economic In development process and cost, flexible by contents and installation conditions, and that has business potential for consumer market. The design solution uses video based virtual world and tangible interaction by motion tracking. Our platform enables a user to monitor their action and to collaborate with other users of remote place within attractive interaction feedback. We developed two design applications, Glass Xylophone 2003 and VR Class, in our platform. Glass Xylophone 2003 provides interactive music performance and helps self practice of glass xylophone. VR Class gives more serious distance learning experience with tutoring and group collaboration. They are presented in public exhibitions and tested by exhibition visitors. They showed application potential of this design solution in interactive game, distance learning, and entertainment field.

  • SMIL supports synchronization and nice screen form environments among various multimedia data. Thus it is utilized widely in the fields of internet virtual lecture, internet broadcasting, and so on. Those kinds of system which can be applied flexibly in spite of the change of environments are required continuously with important issue, and depending upon the trends the function of SMIL is upgraded step by step. In this paper main function of SMIL is analyzed and modeled depending upon object oriented methodology. Also I propose some class model which is inspired iron service combinator. Suggested class model can be tuned by user easily if he wants to optimize system environments.

  • We are fusing to the profiling techniques in education and making to a smart teaching plan production systems. Therefore, we investigated based on technical elements necessary for the proper look for profiling techniques, trends in the technology and product trends. We proposed that is smart teaching plan production system such as the smart teaching plan production and editing technique, the management technique for the smart teaching plan, and works for relation skill to smart teaching plan production systems. If you using the techniques that we were proposed to build effective smart teaching plan production system, management system for contents control, virtual classroom then they can management their's class and class teaching plan production, file management to teaching group easy. and those students can easy understand in their class too easy.

Development and Application of Virtual Geological Field Trip Program using 3D Panorama Virtual Reality Technique (3D 파노라마 가상 현실 기술을 이용한 지질 답사 학습 자료의 개발과 적용)

  • In this study, a geological field trip learning program using 3 Dpanorama virtual reality (PVR) techniques is developed to learn about the Chaeseokgang area located in a national park near Byeonsan-bando, Jeonbuk, Korea. The developed $360^{\circ}{\times}180^{\circ}$ PVR program can show every face of observational points and interact as zoom-in, zoom-out and image rotation. For the educational effects of the materials, it is provided with a compass, a protractor for measuring the dip of strata and observation of specimen of observational points. It also assists students to learn by providing enlarged images, pop-up windows, and expert explanation main observational points. The program is applied to the class of 35 gifted students in middle school to investigate the effectiveness of the program. The results showed that positive responses of the students were 85% or more. It is suggests that this program be used as indirect situated learning material and a solution to geological field trip problems like cost, safety, distance, and so on geological learning of middle school science.

  • South korea's education system recently expands discretion activity classes for raising self-leading learning ability based on autonomy and creativity, and also recommends students to perform diverse field trips in order to learn the contents which can be obtained only from field learning. However most schools come hard to go on a field trip because they face many difficulties such as lack of time, expense, weather, and safety. In this paper, in order to get over these difficulties we design a teaching model for field based learning activities using a virtual reality tool. And using the developed virtual reality tool, we taught 4th grade students of an elementary school located in Seoul. As a result, most of students were engaged and interested in the class and improved their academic achievement during one semester.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the education effect of a web-based virtual laboratory for digital logic circuits which consists of multimedia contents about the usages of equipments for logic circuit experiments and the experimental logic circuits. In case of the engineering experiment of the lower grades in universities, preunderstanding about the usages of experimental equipments and the experimental circuits is necessary for the learners to conduct the experiments well. But it is impossible for the learners to have access to the real experimental equipments earlier due to the lack of equipments and the difficulty in management of the equipments. We have implemented the digital logic circuit virtual laboratory which provides the same experimental environment as a real experimental lab, and the learner can conduct the same experiments as the real ones before the real laboratory class. The learners using the laboratory have reduced the experiment completion time by the average of about 8.2% during a term, compared with the learners not using the lab.

Comparative Analysis on Special Teachers' Perception toward Virtual Reality based Intervention Program for students with disabilities (장애학생을 위한 가상현실 기반 중재프로그램에 대한 특수교사의 인식 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze special teachers' perception on virtual reality based intervention program.(VRIP) for students with disabilities. The survey participants consisted of 364 special teachers who were working in special class or special school. Questionnaires with unfaithful responses were excluded, and a total of 324 questionnaires were analyzed. Data analysis was carried out through independent t-test and ANOVA. According to the results of study, Male special teachers' acceptance intention towards VRIP were higher than female special teachers. Special teachers with educational career within 10 years had more positive awareness than special teachers with educational career above 15 years. Special teachers in middle and high school teachers were higher than special teachers in kindergarten. In the aspects on another factors, special teachers with educational career within 10 years more positive awareness than special teachers with educational career above 15 years. Special teachers in middle and high school teachers were higher than special teachers in kindergarten.

Online face-to-face instructional design model for Software Education using Virtual Classroom (버추얼 클래스룸을 활용한 소프트웨어교육 온라인 대면 교수 설계 모형)

  • Currently, education is being conducted through face-to-face classes and instructional design using blended learning, an integrated online and offline model that utilizes online characteristics. As the paradigm of education has changed from face-to-face classes to non-face-to-face classes since COVID-19, teaching methods to respond to changes are required in the educational field. In this paper, as a instructional design model using online, we proposed a instructional design model that conducts online classes in non-real time and then conducts online face-to-face classes using virtual classrooms in real time. In addition, a teaching strategy that can apply the online face-to-face teaching design model using the proposed virtual class room to software classes was presented. The proposed instructional design model will be able to prepare for a paradigm shift in education with a teaching design that can accommodate the characteristics of face-to-face education online.
