Reliability and validity of a personal computer based muscle viewer for measuring upper trapezius and transverses abdominis muscle thickness

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the reliability and validity of a personal computer-based muscle viewer (PC-BMW) compared with that of a portable ultrasound (P-US) for measuring upper trapezius (UT) and transversus abdominis (TrA) muscle thickness at rest and during contraction. Design: Observational inter-rater reliability study. Methods: Fifty-five healthy participants (25 men, 30 women) participated in this study. PC-BMW and P-US were randomly measured at the UT and TrA muscles. Two examiners randomly obtained the images of all participants in 3 test sessions lasting 2 days. Intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs), standard error of measurement, contraction ratio, and correlation were used to estimate reliability and validity. Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to analyze the relationship between muscle thickness measures taken from PC-BMW and P-US. Results: The intra-rater reliability ICCs of UT and TrA muscle thickness for the PC-BMW were >0.995, indicating excellent reliability. Inter-rater reliability ICCs for the PC-BMW ranged from 0.963 to 0.987. The P-US also exhibited high reliability. A high correlation was found between the measurements of the two muscles in PC-BMW and P-US (p<0.01). Conclusions: PC-BMW provides clear and excellent images, is pocket-sized and less expensive than a conventional ultrasound imaging system. PC-BMW can be utilized variously and has the advantage of rehabilitative ultrasound imaging. More research is needed to evaluate the utility of PC-BMW for rehabilitation.

줄리오 로마노의 만토바 저택: 메르쿠리우스로 표현된 화가의식 (The Facade Decoration of Julio Romano's House in Mantua: Ideas on Painting Expressed through Mercury)

  • Julio Romano decorated the facade of his house in Mantua with a statue of Mercury to give expressions to his ideas on painting. Hereby the painter from Rome could show his home to the world as that of a painter. To be concrete, Mercury was the planet god to which visual artists belonged, and so was basically related to visual arts. In his role to deliver diverse features of art works Mercury could also convey concepts and emotions expressed in a picture to the viewer. The power of a painting to arouse certain emotions or move the mind of the viewer was further connected to the role of Mercury as the guide of the human soul. This function again related the Roman god to the characteristic of a portrait to present absent persons to the viewer. Above the statue of Mercury, a Lucian head of the god is seen, so that they together form the central axis of the facade. This seems to emphasize that the theme of the facade decoration was the powerful persuasive forces of eloquence. The two masks on the left could then refer to sources of eloquence, I.e. various beautiful expressions of a language and its generative process. On the other hand, the masks on the right could represent consequences of eloquence, for instance, prudence, evil effects which come about to imprudent listeners, and other influences on listeners. Finally, it would be useful to remind us of a line from On Architecture by Leon Battista Alberti. According to the humanist architect parts of a building which are seen from the outside, like a facade, should be appropriately designed, since the decoration of a house could play a significant role to enhance the fame and honor of the family and its fatherland. This theory of Alberti could have provided the foundation to the facade decoration of the Casa Pippi which proudly presented the profession of painting to the public in visual form.

중국 인터넷 엔터테인먼트 개인방송 콘텐츠 수용에 대한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on Acceptance of China Internet Entertainment Personal Broadcasting Contents)

  • 본 연구는 중국 인터넷 엔터테인먼트 개인방송 콘텐츠 수용에 대한 탐색적 연구이다. 시청자 만족에 영향을 미치는 요인을 이론적으로 검토한 후, 이들 요인과 시청자 만족이 재이용의도에 미치는 영향관계를 분석하였다. 설문을 수거하여 분석한 연구결과, 첫째, 정보 시스템 품질은 인터넷 개인방송의 시청만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 간접경험, 오락추구, 사회적 관계는 인터넷 개인방송의 시청만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 인터넷 개인방송의 시청만족이 재이용의도에 상당히 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이들 결과는 인터넷 개인방송을 운영하는 회사의 마케팅 전략 수립과 진행자가 갖춰야할 요건의 준비에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

3D 영상의 입체성이 콘텐츠 특성에 따라 이용자의 심리적 반응에 미치는 효과 - 콘텐츠의 유인가와 각성도를 중심으로 - (Viewers' Psychophysiological and Self-report Responses to 3D Stereoscopic Display)

  • 영상 콘텐츠가 2D와 3D의 다른 차원에서 재현되었을 때 수용자의 심리적 반응에는 어떠한 차이가 있는지 보다 종합적으로 알아보기 위하여 본 연구는 유인가와 각성과 같은 콘텐츠의 내용적 특성이 영상의 입체성과 연계되어 수용자의 자기보고식(self-report) 설문과 수용자의 생리심리학적(psychophysiology) 반응에 미치는 효과를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 동일한 영상이라도 3D로 시청하였을 때 수용자의 피부전도계수(SCL)는 유의미하게 높았던 반면, 심장박동(HR)의 경우 유의미한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 또한 3D 영상에서 수용자의 실재감 인식이 더 높게 나타나는 것으로 분석되었으나, 인지적 정보처리를 표식하는 회상기억에서 입체성에 따른 효과는 발견되지 않았다. 흥미롭게도 수용자의 실재감과 이용의사에서 콘텐츠의 내용적 특성 중 유인가가 입체성과 상호작용효과를 보였다. 부정적인 콘텐츠는 3D 영상에서 긍정적인 콘텐츠는 2D 영상에서 보다 높은 실재감과 이용의사를 이끌어내는 것으로 나타났다. 3D 영상 산업의 발전을 위해 영상의 입체성과 콘텐츠의 속성이 가지는 상호관계에 대한 논의가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

다시점 영상 시스템을 위한 얼굴 추적 (Face Tracking for Multi-view Display System)

  • 본 논문에서는 관찰자의 시점에 적응적인 다시점 영상 합성 시스템을 위한 얼굴 추적 기법을 제안한다. depth 카메라를 이용하여 텍스쳐 영상과 깊이 정보를 획득한 후, 회전(rotation)과 이동(translation) 등 기하학적인 변환을 이용하여 관찰자의 위치를 고려한 다시점 영상을 생성할 수 있다. 관찰 시점의 위치와 각도에 의한 입체감(motion parallex cue)을 제공하기 위하여 주 관찰자의 얼굴을 추적하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법에서는 모니터에 설치된 얼굴 획득용 카메라로부터 얻은 영상에서 얼굴 색상의 통계학적 특성과 변형적 형판(template)을 이용하여, 실시간으로 초기에 설정된 주요 관찰자(dominant face)의 얼굴영역을 추적하게 된다. 실험 결과 복잡한 배경 하에서도 얼굴 영역의 위치를 성공적으로 검출 및 추적하여 관찰자 시점에 해당하는 3차원 입체 영상을 디스플레이 할 수 있었다.

HL7(Healthy Level Seven) 프로토콜을 이용한 실시간 환자 모니터링 웹 뷰어시스템 개발 (The Web Viewer System Development of Real-Time Patient Monitering using HL7(Healthy Level Seven) Protocol)

  • HL7은 병원정보 시스템에서 사용되는 정보와 관련된 표준화된 프로토콜이다. 생체 정보 웹 뷰어 시스템 또한 의료 영상 및 전송에 대해 표준화된 프로토콜이다. 본 논문에서는 ICU(Intensive Care Unit)에 설치된 Central Monitor에서 확인할 수 있는 환자의 생체 정보들을 웹상에서 실시간 확인할 수 있는 시스템 구성을 제안하기 위하여 생체정보 수신 모듈과 웹 뷰어 시스템을 구성하였다. 생체정보 수신 모듈은 Central Monitor로부터 수신할 수 있는 Raw Data 형태의 환자의 생체 정보를 생체 정보 웹 뷰어 시스템에서 사용가능 한 데이터로 분석할 수 있도록 설계가 이루어져 있다. 웹 뷰어 시스템은 환자 생체 정보에 대한 실시간성과 생체 정보에 대한 데이터의 연속성을 부여하여 베드 사이트의 환자에게서 발생된 모든 생체정보에 의해 환자 관리를 데이터 베이스를 이용하여 전산화함으로써 환자의 광범위한 자료 검색이 이루어지므로 획기적인 원격 진료로 활용이 가능하다. 또한 적절한 생체 정보데이터의 교환과 정보 관리의 수정을 통해 병원정보 시스템은 모든 병원 관계자의 보다나은 업무처리를 향상시킬 수 있다.

ASE 파일 파싱과 모델 데이터베이스 연동을 통한 3D 웹 서비스 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of 3D Web Service based on ASE File and Model Database)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 기존의 정적인 정보검색의 형태를 탈피하여 동적이면서 사용자 지향적인 범용 3D모델 데이터 렌더링을 인터넷 사용자들에게 제공할 수 있는 환경을 설계 및 구현하는 것이다. 이는 3차원 렌더링 프로그램을 실행하여 사용자가 원하는 정보의 결과를 확인하거나 변경하는 등의 동적 정보를 제공하는 웹 서비스를 구현하는 것이다. 이를 위해 가장 보편적인 3차원 모델 데이터, 3D 스튜디오 맥스의 텍스트 출력물인 ASE 포맷 파일을 파싱하여 렌더링 해주는 3D Viewer 프로그램을 제작하고, 이를 ActiveX 컴포넌트인 OCX로 만들어 웹 페이지 상에서 실행 가능하게 한다. 데이터의 효율적 관리와 사용자와의 상호작용을 위하여 ASE 모델들을 위한 데이터베이스를 구축하여 사용자 상호작용적인 Web 3D 웹 서비스를 실현한다. 이를 통하여 인터넷을 통한 실시간적인 정보 교환이나, 네트워크상의 가상공간 내에서의 공동 업무 작업의 가능성을 내다본다.

공개용과 상업용 DICOM STL 파일변환 프로그램으로 출력한 삼차원 프린팅 쇄골 골절 모델의 품질비교 (Comparison of the Quality of Clavicle Fracture Three-dimensional Model Printing by Open Source and Commercial use Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine Stereolithography File Conversion Program)

  • The recent 3D printing technology is used in various medical, manufacturing, and education fields and is more efficient in terms of production process, time, and cost than existing production. Especially in fracture surgery, interest and research have been focused on improving accuracy, shortening of operation time and recovery time, and reducing reoperation. However, because of the financial and technical problems of the 3D printer and the file conversion program, the 3D printing is made directly at the hospital, and it is not generally used for diagnosis of fracture and surgical research. In this study, to solve those problems, clavicle CT imaging was switched into Osirix Open Source DICOM Viewer, Stereolithography file conversion programs and commercial Terarecon 3D DICOM Viewer, file conversion programs, and then clavicle fracture model was directly made through 3D printer of fused filament fabrication wire additive processing method, and then the accuracy of the shape was compared and analyzed. Clavicle fracture models printed in two methods were blind-tested on clinicians of general hospitals' orthopedics and radiologic technicians with over 10 years of experiences, and then their analysis opinions of resolution reviews were analyzed. The result showed no difference. The 3D printing model with open source DICOM STL file conversion program used was applicable to clinical, so it is considered useful in precision diagnosis of fracture and operation plans.

Social Media and Communication in Times of Public Health Crisis: Analysis of COVID-19 YouTube Vlog activities in the sharing of patient experience and information

  • This study analyzes the content of YouTube Vlog videos created by patients of Coronavirus disease 2019 ("COVID-19") in South Korea and viewer comments on those videos. As this new infectious disease started to sweep the world in late 2019 and early 2020, the public started facing fear and uncertainty stemming from the lack of sufficient and accurate information about the virus. At the same time, as COVID-19 patients in South Korea were treated in isolation to prevent the spread of the virus, the patients themselves were experiencing anxiety and exclusion from the society. During this period, there was an increase in YouTube Vlog videos created by the patients in which they shared their experiences going through the treatment and recovery processes. To understand how these YouTube Vlog videos were being used by the patients to connect with the society and seek support in a state of isolation and anxiety, this study conducted a qualitative multi-case analysis of three sample YouTube Vlog video channels to analyze their content, as well as a lexicon-based sentiment analysis of viewer comments to understand the experiences and reactions of viewers. The patients' YouTube Vlog videos showed that they shared similar stages of progress, despite each emphasizing a different main theme. Overall, the tone of the viewer comments became increasingly positive over time, although with some variance among different patient cases and stages. The results confirmed that Vlogs of patients played a significant role in reducing the uncertainty around COVID-19 and strengthening social support for the patients. The findings of this study can improve an understanding of the psychological and behavioral aspects of patient experience in isolated treatment and the impact of shared communication among members of society in times of crisis.

시뮬레이션 기법을 이용한 남대문 및 주변 경관의 시각적 선호도에 관한 연구 (A Visual Preference Study on Namdaemun and its Surroundings Using Visual Simulation Techniques)

  • One argument of this study is that the policy to handle and landscape of cultural and historical property had to do with people's visual preferences. This study seeks to investigate people's visual preferences toward the landscape of cultural /historical property, specifically dealing with 'Namdaemun', which is the first class cultural property of Korea. People's visual preference was specifically examined into the four specific concepts : 'visual identity','harmony','beauty of the target property', and 'overall beauty'. Two objective variables, such as, 'distance' between the viewer and the cultural property, and 'height' of background buildings were considered possible predictors of the four visual preference variables. Photos of 'Namdaemun' were taken at three different directions and at three different distances. The photographed images of 'Namdaemun' were transferred ito the digitalized graphic images, where the height of background buildings was artificially changed and simulated. The simulated visual images were taken into the slides again. A total of 59 students of the Department of Landscape architecture at Seoul City University were sampled as subjects. A series of 17 slides were shown to the subjects four times. The subjects were asked to check their preference ratings concerning the four concepts on a 7-point Likert scale. The results found in this study were as follows : 1) In the results of ANOVA, it was clear that people visually preferred the view where the height of background buildings were lower than 15 floors to the view of more than 15 floors . 2) From the results of the path analysis, it was found that 'harmony','visual identity' and 'beauty of the target property' were direct predictors of 'the overall beauty'. The 'height ' of background buildings and the viewer's 'distance' were not found to be direct predictors, however, they demonstrated their effects on 'the overall beauty' through the other variable, which were direct predictors of 'the overall beauty'. In sum, the longer the distance and the higher the background buildings, the lower people's preference with the 'overall beauty'. These indirect paths, in turn, also explain why and how the 'height' of background buildings and the viewer's 'distance' negatively influence the 'overall beauty'. An implication from the these results is that when the height of background buildings were not controllable, there would be some other strategies for improving people's visual preference toward the historical /cultural view. To increase 'visual identity' of the cultural property, for example, changing colors of the cultural property or increasing the lighting level, etc., would be one strategy, since the increased 'visual identity' will, in turn, increase 'the overall beauty'.
