  • Single-incision laparoscopic total gastrectomy for gastric cancer has recently been reported by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. However, this is not a popular procedure primarily because of the technical difficulties involved in achieving consistent intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy. At Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, we recently introduced a simple, easy-to-use, low-profile laparoscopic manual scope holder that enables the maintenance of a stable field of view, the most demanding condition in single-port gastrectomy. In this technical report, we describe in detail the world's first solo single-incision laparoscopic total gastrectomy with D1+ lymph node dissection and intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy for proximal early gastric cancer.

  • Distraction osteogenesis is a biologic process in which new bone is formed between bone fragments being separated by a tractional force. This technique has the advantage of initiating new bone growth without bone transplantation and promoting the growth of soft tissue. Mandibular distraction osteogenesis has shown to be effective to treat congenital or acquired mandibular hypoplasias. On the basis of positive results with implant-supported prostheses, the use of implants in the distracted site can significantly help stabilize the prosthesis. We obtained good result in the patient with mandibular deficiency due to trauma, who have been reconstructed with distraction osteogenesis and implant. We report our experiences with literature view.

  • Disaster robots have accepted tele-operation in order to share the intelligence of human operators and robot systems. Virtual wall is one of the tele-operation technology to support recognition of human operator. If the virtual wall can block the robot from dangers, the operator will feel comfortable and can concentrate on fundamental missions. In this paper, we proposes and compares three methods for virtual wall visualization in tele-operation using 3D reconstruction. First is a virtual wall visualized only with edges. A wall filled with transparent color is the second method. Finally, third method is a texture-mapped virtual wall. In the experiments, we discuss their merits and demerits in view of robot tele-operation.

  • Using eighteen texts from various genera of present-day Japanese, I collected phonologically reduced forms frequently observed in conversational Japanese, and classified them in search of a unified. explanation of phonological phenomena. I found 7,516 cases of reduced forms which I divided into 43 categories according to the types of phonological changes they have undergone. The general tendencies are that deletion and fusion of a phoneme or an entire syllable takes place frequently, resulting in the decrease in the number of syllables. From a morphosyntactic point of view, phonological reduction often occurs at the NP and VP morpheme boundaries. The following findings are drawn from phonetical observations of reduction. (1) Vowels are more easily deleted than consonants. (2) Bilabials ([m], [b], and [w]) are the most likely candidates for deletion. (3) In a concatenation of vowels, closed vowels are absorbed into open vowels, or two adjacent vowels come to create another vowel, in which case reconstruction of the original sequence is not always predictable. (4) Alveolars are palatalized under the influence of front vowels. (5) Regressive assimilation takes place in a syllable starting with [r], changing the entire syllable into a phonological choked sound or a syllabic nasal, depending on the voicing of the following phoneme.

  • This study presents a computer vision-based approach for representing time evolution of structural damages leveraging a database of inspection images. Spatially incoherent but temporally sorted archival images captured by robotic cameras are exploited to represent the damage evolution over a long period of time. An access to a sequence of time-stamped inspection data recording the damage growth dynamics is premised to this end. Identification of a structural defect in the most recent inspection data set triggers an exhaustive search into the images collected during the previous inspections looking for correspondences based on spatial proximity. This is followed by a view synthesis from multiple candidate images resulting in a single reconstruction for each inspection round. Cracks on concrete surface are used as a case study to demonstrate the feasibility of this approach. Once the chronology is established, the damage severity is quantified at various levels of time scale documenting its progression through time. The proposed scheme enables the prediction of damage severity at a future point in time providing a scope for preemptive measures against imminent structural failure. On the whole, it is believed that the present study will immensely benefit the structural inspectors by introducing the time dimension into the autonomous condition assessment pipeline.

  • A high-speed and initial helium jet flow has been analyzed by a developed four-dimensional digital speckle tomography. Multiple high-speed cameras have been used to capture movements of speckles in multiple angles of view simultaneously because a shape of a nozzle for the jet flow is asymmetric and the initial jet flow is fast and unsteady. The speckle movements between no flow and helium jet flow from the asymmetric nozzle controlled by a solenoid valve have been obtained by a cross-correlation tracking method so that those distances can be transferred to deflection angles of laser rays for density gradients. The four-dimensional density fields for the high-speed helium jet flow have been reconstructed from the deflection angles by a developed real-time tomography method.

  • In DPCM coder which has flat notse distributions, reconstruction noises might be shaped or transferred to hign frequency portion using the relevant noise reduction loop under the constraints of image compression. Noise shaping filter directly in loop can be used, but we shows the complete characteristics of signal blurred DPCM coder in view of data compression and noise processing. Equi weighting in bluming procedure of prefilter is introduced and the blurred signal is restored by debiurning postfilter. Noise shaping tegion on two dimensional frequency domain depends upon the size of masking filter. In spite of its noise increments by the signal blurring, the algonthm is effective for the visually relevant coding which has low pass freqency properties.

  • In this study, using X-ray cargo container scanning device and to differentiate the concept of three-dimensional information extraction applied for X-ray scanning device as an ingredient in the rotation of the X-Ray Linear Pushbroom Stereo System by introducing the geometric How to model was introduced. Three-dimensional information obtained through the matching of a single voxel space filled with a random vector operations for each voxel in the three dimensional shape reconstruction algorithm using the definition, and in time, the time required for each step were analyzed. Using OpenCV in each step by applying parallelization techniques approximately 1.8 times improvement in the processing time of the check, but do not meet the target within one minute levels. The other hand, X-ray images by the primary process to convert the point View the results of real-time stereo through a three-dimensional could feel the comfort level.

  • The Analog data is impossible to perfect reconstruct original data at a hologram data storage because of noise such as cross talk. So it is necessary that data can be stored by digital signal unavoidably. Therefore this work deals with experiments from this point of view through writing & reading of digital data. We stored 256bit digital data at one point on As-Ge-Se-S chalcogenide thin film and we reconstruct original data of 100% through the specified algorithm such as the histogram equalization, the interactive correction, etc. This result shows that the data is able to reconstruct under relative low diffraction efficiency. As the result, we expect the possibility of chalcogenide thin film for HDDS as the analysis of the effective resolution refer to reconstruction rate and diffraction efficiency.

  • Partial splitting of the upper sternum provides an excellent surgical view in reconstruction of the intrathoracic trachea. However, when deep-seated mediastinitis develops postoperatively, it is difficult to manage especially when combined with sternal osteomyelitis. It also needs an additional consideration compared to the usual treatment modality applied to mediastinitis following a standard median stemotomy because the lower part of the stemum remains intact. We treated a 50 year old female patient with deep-seated mediastinitis and sternal osteomyelitis following resection and end-to-end anastomosis of the trachea through an upper midline sternotomy. The patient underwent extensive stemectomy, omental free grafting, and pectoral myocutaneous flap. Postoperative viability of the free-grafted omentum was evaluated by angiography and CT scan.
