  • Purpose: The study aims to establish an effective training strategy and methods by comparing the effects of educational interest, satisfaction, and achievements of virtual reality and videos education before simulation training. Methods: The randomized control study was implemented on May 31, 2018, by randomly selecting 36 participants to compare educational virtual reality and videos. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 20.0. Results: The participants were divided into an intervention group of 17(47.2%) and a control group of 19(52.8%). Regarding the levels of satisfaction, a significant difference (p= .010) was noted between the control (3.88 points) and the intervention groups (4.45 points). A significant difference (p= .001) was also noted between the intervention (80.3 points) and control (63.3 points) in terms of total simulation practical skills. Conclusion: Educational virtual reality can be an alternative training method to achieve the standard educational objectives by raising levels of educational interest and of achievement with practical skills.

  • In this study, we propose an annotation system exhibits a secondary role using augmented reality in the exhibition environment. Common methods that utilize the description of the picture or photo booklet or audio device to the exhibition and in the form of viewing the exhibits while people describe method is used. We are using augmented reality technology, in addition to these conventional methods to provide a variety of information about the exhibits utilizing text, photos, video and audio of the multimedia medium. Where visitors can use a smart phone in hand deulgoseo, the exhibition becomes a secondary role by applying the Augmented Reality technology in tablet-based devices.

  • Mixed-reality technologies have proven to be valuable in many architecture, engineering and construction / facilities management (AEC/FM) applications. However, its potential of being adapted to facilitate hazard identification and risk communication in construction workplaces has yet to be fully explored. This paper makes an attempt to evaluate the feasibility of applying mixed-reality to enhancing safety risk communication in construction workplaces. Experiments have been designed in which Microsoft HoloLens® together with a developed application will be used to intervene in the practice of jobsite risk communication. A cross-sectional survey will then be followed to examine the effectiveness and acceptability of this technology through analysis on data collected from participants in the construction industry. The preliminary results show that this emerging HoloLens® technology, compared to the traditional communication methods (i.e., phone calls, walking up people and talk, and video conferencing), facilitates accurate, prompt safety communication on construction sites. Such findings signify the potential of applying mixed-reality to safety performance enhancement in the construction industry.

  • Nowadays, smart phone became an important part of communication media and integrated into people's life. If callers rely on helmet-mounted display(HMD) augmented reality technique to add two-way user's facial expression, appearance, actions during the calling process, it will let callers have a visualized fantastic sensual experience. And through that method can break the limitations of vision, so research that technical problem can promote the development of visual arts, that is meaningful. This paper will choose and composite several existed technologies to set up two hypothesis, try to realize AR video calling. Through comparison and analysis to find those two hypothesis' problem, and create design solutions to solve problems. And use case study method to present two cases for prove my paper's result that is those two hypothesis can be realize in future. Use those technologies can bring more convenience and enjoyment to people's life. It can be predicted that AR video calling process can be successfully realized and will have unlimited development in future.

  • Using augmented reality to make children's books more realistic, engaging, and funny makes a great sense in terms of education. The purpose of this study is to share the experience of the production method with the story of the fairy tale which is widely known to the children as the augmented reality video contents and to act as a guide book to make the application of the augmented reality technology to the field of book publishing easier. I want to. Also, in this development, the principles and the method of making augmented reality storybooks are provided to beginners of the augmented reality contents production including the 3D modeling production method used for the augmented reality production, the method of using Unity3D engine, and the method of producing the vuforia marker, It is a study that guides you to use it immediately.

  • We designed and implemented streaming server based on MEPG DASH, which is able to provide high quality video with low-latency live streaming service like 360 VR video on the existing cable network via low-spec media service devices such as IPTV and OTT(Over the Top) SettopBox. We also designed and applied management process which is cable of supporting services by cashing streaming video file(MPD, Segment Files) to reduce the server response delay time. Further more, we confimred that it is also able to provide high quality of tiled video streaming with over 50,000kbps bitrate and 8K@60P through the experiment.

  • VR 360 video contents requires new visual language research in that the viewer inevitably makes partial appreciation unlike traditional video contents. In this study, we paid attention to the fact that arrangement of events and background elements in the 360-degree extended background of VR 360 video contents will play a major role in guiding the audience. Therefore, this study focuses on the arrangement of events and background elements from a narrative point of view, and analyzed the aspects of VR 360 video contents cases.

  • In the near future, we are expected to live in a Mixed Reality environment where reality and virtuality coexist as today we live using the Internet and smartphones in our daily lives. The relevant content based on the idea of Mixed Reality crystallizing is currently expanding, and it is time for research on it. This study examines the current situation and the development direction of mixed reality contents. Typical mixed reality contents can be classify by wearability. We analyzed HoloLens, a mixed reality wearable device that is worn on a head, which is a example of wearable device. As an example of unwearable device, we also analyzed the Room2Room which is a communication system that combines video with augmented reality-based telepresence avatar. Mixed Reality content will develop in the direction of implementing expanded use of information and more natural realism through the interactive combination of Reality, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality. As head-mounted wearable technology develops, Mixed Reality content is expected to become popular by increasing the number of Mixed Reality device users if convenience and price competitiveness are secured. The way of unifying Mixed Reality wearable devices must be established in order to increase convenience, and the environment based on Mixed Reality will be created through diversifying leisure activity content. Telepresence Avatar is expected to develop into Mobile Hologram Avar as Mixed Reality content accessible anywhere and at anytime beyond space limits. Another potential for development of Telepresence Avatar is the combination of Avatar moving on user's thought, Augmented Human technology and Mixed Reality.

  • We propose a haptic rendering technology for touchable video. Our touchable video technique allows users for feeling the sense of touch while probing directly on 2D objects in video scenes or manipulating 3D objects brought out from video scenes using haptic devices. In our technique, a server sends video and haptic data as well as the information of 3D model objects. The clients receive video and haptic data from the server and render 3D models. A video scene is divided into small grids, and each cell has its tactile information which corresponds to a specific combination of four attributes: stiffness, damping, static friction, and dynamic friction. Users can feel the sense of touch when they touch directly cells of a scene using a haptic device. Users can also examine objects by touching or manipulating them after bringing out the corresponding 3D objects from the screen. Our touchable video technique proposed in this paper can lead us to feel maximum satisfaction the haptic-audio-vidual effects directly on the video scenes of movies or home-shopping video contents.
