  • In this paper, we introduced design of intelligent surveillance camera system and typical event processing scenario for urban transit. To analyze video, we studied events that frequently occur in surveillance camera system. Scenario is designed for estimation in the case of seven representative situations(designated area invasion, an object left alone, removed object in designated area, object tracking, loitering and congestion measurement) in urban transit. Our system is optimized for low hardware complexity, real time processing and scenario dependent solution.

  • In this paper, a hagwon-bus boarding danger warning system based on computer vision is proposed to protect children from an accident causing injuries or death. Three zones are defined and different algorithms are applied to detect moving objects. In zone 1, a block-based entropy value is calculated using the absolute difference image generated by the absolute differential estimation between background image and incoming video frame. In zone 2, an effective and robust motion object tracking algorithm is performed based on the particle filter. Experimental results demonstrate the efficient and effectively of the algorithm for moving object inspection in each zone.

  • The most important and critical to the performance of video surveillance systems is to be detected exactly how much. In order to accurately track the object must be able to accurately separate the background and object. However, the system itself rather than the human vision exactly distinguish the object and the background, to assess the situation, it is not easy. If we can accurately detect the background and the object, to be able to accurately track an object, it is possible to increase the reliability of the system, have a significant impact on the success of the entire production system. In this paper, we propose a way to distinguish more precisely the background and the object being to determine the background environment changes more accurately.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can efficiently detect and monitor multiple ships in real-time. The proposed algorithm uses morphological operations and edge information for detecting and tracking ships. We used smoothing filter with a $3{\times}3$ Gaussian window and luminance component instead of RGB components in the captured image. Additionally, we applied Sobel operator for edge detection and a threshold for binary images. Finally, object labeling with connectivity and morphological operation with open and erosion were used for ship detection. Compared with conventional methods, the proposed method is meant to be used mainly in coastal surveillance systems and monitoring systems of harbors. A system based on this method was tested for both stationary and non-stationary backgrounds, and the results of the detection and tracking rates were more than 97% on average. Thousands of image frames and 20 different video sequences in both online and offline modes were tested, and an overall detection rate of 97.6% was achieved.

  • There are two kinks of processes could detect the laser pointer. One is the process which detects the location of the pointer. the other one is a possibility of dividing with the process which converts the coordinate of the laser pointer which is input in coordinate of the monitor. The previous Mean-Shift algorithm is not appropriately for real-time video image to calculate many quantity. In this paper, we proposed the context driven real-time laser pointer detection and tracking. The proposed method is a possibility of getting the result which is fixed from the situation which the background and the background which are complicated dynamically move. In the actual environment, we can get to give constant results when the object come in, when going out at forecast boundary. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity with the proposed method. Accordingly, the accuracy and the quality of image recognition will be improved the surveillance system.

  • In this paper, the interesting moving objects tracking algorithm using color information on Multi-Video camera against variance of intensity, shape and background is proposed. Moving objects are detected by using difference image method and integral projection method to background image and objects image only with hue area, after converting RGB color coordination of image which is input from multi-video camera into HSI color coordination. Hue information of the detected moving area are segmented to 24 levels from $0^{\circ}$ to $360^{\circ}$. It is used to the feature parameter of the moving objects that are three segmented hue levels with the highest distribution and difference among three segmented hue levels. To examine propriety of the proposed method, human images with variance of intensity and shape and human images with variance of intensity, shape and background are targeted for moving objects. As surveillance results of the interesting human, hue distribution level variation of the detected interesting human at each camera is under 2 level, and it is confirmed that the interesting human is tracked and surveilled by using feature parameters at cameras, automatically.

  • Surveillance system using active tracking camera has no distance limitation of surveillance range compared to supersonic or sound sensors. However, complex motion tracking algorithm requires huge amount of computation. Compared to conventional methods using DSPs or embedded processors, this paper proposes and implements a novel motion tracker unit that detects and extracts motion information of moving objects by using picture difference of consecutive frames. The proposed motion tracker unit was implemented in FPGA with about 13,000 gates. It processes NTSC format video and was verified by embedding it into the active surveillance camera system. We also propose and implements a motion estimator unit linkable to video codec by embedding the proposed motion tracker unit into ready-made motion estimator unit. The implemented motion estimator unit is about 17,000 gates in $0.35{\mu}m$ process.

  • This paper proposes a hierarchical approach to active shape model using wavelet transform. The proposed algorithm allows us to use both global shape characteristics and finer details for model deformation. The statistical properties of the wavelet transform of a deformable model are analyzed by principal component analysis and used as priors in the contour's deformation.
