  • This paper describes a platform for video conferencing on Information Super Highway. In this paper we de-sign a Multi-Multicast Server(MCS) and the platform. The platform uses Multi-MultiCast Server for multitasking IP Multicast data on IP over ATM. Based on Multicast Address Resolution Server (AMRS) which was proposed in this paper the platform maps from D class IP addresses to ATM addresses. MARS handles a recovery in case of MCS down. This paper also presents a solving mechanism for handling botteneck by using the MCS.

  • Wireless multicast service can be used for video streaming service to save the network resources by sending the same popular multimedia contents to a group of users at once. For better multimedia streaming multicast service, we propose a quality-aware rate adaptation (QARA) scheme for scalable video multicast in rate adaptive wireless networks. In QARA, transmission rate is determined depending on the content's type and users' channel conditions. First, the base layer is transmitted by a low rate for high reliability. That means we provide basic service quality to all users. On the contrary, the transmission rate for enhancement layer is adapted by using channel condition feedback from a randomly selected node. So, the enhancement layer frames in a multimedia content is sent with various transmission rates. Therefore, each node can be provided with differentiated quality services. Consequently, QARA is capable of serving heterogeneous population of mobile nodes. Moreover, it can utilize network resources more efficiently. Our simulation results show that QARA outperforms utilization of the available transmission rate and reduces the data transmission time.

  • When demand for transmitting multimedia data increases, network congestion is more likely to occur and users will suffer high loss rate as well as high delay. In order to enhance quality-of-service (QoS) of video multicasting, we need to raise transmission reliability and reduce end-to-end delay. This paper proposes a routing mechanism for a OpenFlow-based small-scale network in order to multicast video reliably with low delay. In our method, multipath routing will be applied to Multiple Description (MD) Coded video to exploit its multi-description property. Through performance evaluation, our method shows improvement on loss rate, delay and video distortion.

  • A goal of a BISDN network is to provided integrated transport for a wide range of applications such as teleconferencing, Video On Demand etc. There require multipoint communications in addition to conventional point-to-point connections. Therefore multicast capabilities are very essential in multimedia communications. In this paper, we propose a new multicast cell scheduling method on the Parallel Multicast Packet Switch with Ring network: PMRN which are based on separated HOL. In this method, we place two different HOLs, one for unicast cells and the other for multicast cells. Then using non-FIFO scheduling, we can schedule both unicast cells and multicast cells which are available at the time in the input buffer. The simulation result shows that this method reduces the delay in the input buffer and increases the efficiency of both point-to-point network and ring network and finally enhances the bandwidth of the overall packet switch. • The number of channels available to a video server is limited since the number of channels a video server can support is determined by its communication bandwidth. Several approaches such as batching, piggybacking and patching have been proposed to reduce I/O demand on the video server by sharing multicast data. Patching has been shown to be efficient in the matter of the cost for VOD systems. Unlike conventional multicast techniques, patching is a dynamic multicast scheme which enables a new request to join an ongoing multicast. In addition, true VOD can be achieved since a new request can be served immediately without having to wait for the next multicast. In this paper. we propose two types of channel reservation patching algorithm : a fixed channel reservation patching and a variable channel reservation patching. To immediately schedule the requests for popular videos, these algorithms reserve the channels of video server for the fixed number of popular videos or for the variable number of popular videos which is determined dynamically according to the load of video server. The performance of the proposed algorithms is evaluated through simulations, and compared with that of simple patching. Our performance measures are average defection rate, average latency, service fairness and the amount of buffered data according to video server loads. Simulation results show that the proposed channel reservation patching algorithms provide better performance compared to simple patching algorithm.

  • In this paper, a method for transmitting layered SVC streams in differentiated MBSFN channels is presented. Scalable coded video streams are transmitted in modulation channels of different efficiency that it achieves reduced resource consumption compared to non-scalable AVC stream. When utilizing with Raptor FEC, the combined effect is enhanced service coverage with providing minimum video quality at the edge of the service area, than the case of AVC.

  • This paper implements MOD system using multicast delivery. Conventional system provide server-based system in multicast delivery but implemented system provides on-demand client-based multicast system. The scheduler aggregates clients' request and it generate multcast group addresses and port numbers according to requested video items and service request time. Then it transmits immediately multicast address to MOD server and client who request service. And then MOD server transmits requested streams with a multicast group address and the client joins the group automatically. The scheduler assigns the same multicast group address when other clients request an identical video within the same scheduling duration. The system can reduce load of server and support many clients at the same time.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy-aware multi-tree video multicast scheme for wireless ad hoc networks. Some network nodes may have energy enough to receive and forward the whole video content whereas some may not. Even though the video quality may vary depending on the remaining energy, our scheme enables the low-energy nodes to join the video multicast session. The video stream is split into a set of multiple and independent descriptions by MDC (Multiple description coding) scheme. Each description corresponds to a substream and number of substreams determine the video quality. The member nodes determine how many substreams it would receive depending on the remaining energy and expected amount of packets per substream. So does the intermediate tree nodes. That builds a tree per substream and multiple trees per session. The data source disseminates each substream through corresponding tree. The video quality of the member nodes varies according to number of participating trees. We evaluate the performance of our scheme by simulation. Our scheme showed better peak signal to noise ratio and extended the lifetime of the network nodes compared with MAODV, which builds a single tree, and MT-MAODV, which builds multiple trees but does not consider the available energy.

  • Multicast protocols are efficient methods of group communication such as video conference, Internet broadcasting and On-Line Game, but they do not support the various transmission protocol services like a reliability guarantee, FTP, or Telnet that TCPs do. The Purpose or this Paper is to find a method to utilize multicast routers can simultaneously transport multicast packets and TCP packets. For multicast network scalability and error recovery the existing SRM(Scalable Reliable Multicast)method has been used. Three packets per TCP transmission control window site are used for transport and an ACK is used for flow control. A CBR(Constant Bit Rate) and a SRM is used for UDP traffic control. Divided on whether a UDP multicast packet and TCP unicast packet is used simultaneously or only a UDP multicast packet transport is used, the multicast receiver with the longest delay is measured on the number of packets and its data receiving rate. It can be seen that the UDP packet and the TCP's IP packet can be simultaneously used in a server router.
