Objectives: Studies are needed to examine the characteristics of health effects reported by people who used humidifier disinfectant (HD), including the distribution of victims. Methods: We analyzed the distribution of health effects including lung injury that were asserted by a total of 699 individuals who registered with the first through third national programs to determine health effects associated with the use of HD. Results: We found that HD-associated lung injury (HDLI) occurred every year from 2002 through 2011, and in 2011 for 37.2% (n=96) of the total of 258 clinically evaluated HDLI victims. More than half of the victims responded that they were victimized between 2010 and 2011. This was consistent among all classifications by sex, age, HD brand and HD chemical ingredient. Conclusion: This study assumed that the major reason for the outbreak of the health effect between 2010 and 2011 could be the variations in concentrations and physical properties related to polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG). Further studies are necessary to examine if some factors related to the chemical disinfectants contained in HD brands may have caused the massive outbreak of health effects including HDLI.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing the experience of sexual violence victims while dating as College Students. Methods: With a correlational survey design, data was collected by self-report questionnaires from 560 college students who had reported sexual violence during a date. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: College students while on date who reported sexual violence showed a significantly negative correlation with self-esteem, dating sexual assault recognition, sexual assertiveness, and significantly positive correlations with the gender role stereotypes, sexual violence permissiveness, date sexual violence inflictions, and family violence. A combination of date sexual violence inflictions, self-esteem, sexual violence permissiveness, sexual assertiveness all accounted for 41% of the variance in date sexual violence among college students. Conclusion: Self-esteem and sexual assertiveness must be progressively uplifted in order to prevent date sexual violence. A specific program established to reduce sexual violence permissiveness would be useful in order to reduce the number of sexual violence victims for college students who are dating.

Objectives : This study was conducted in order to investigate the influences of school violence on the mental health of student victims and their parents. Methods : A total of 56 (aged 7-18) student victims and their parents were selected to participate in a survey. The students had experienced school violence from June 2012 to October 2013. They completed a set of self-report questionnaires, including socio-demographic characteristics, family relationship, Impact of Event Scale-Revised, Child Depression Inventory (CDI), Beck Depression Inventory, Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale, and Parental Bonding Instrument to evaluate psychiatric complications and to understand the emotional bonding between them. Results : The student's level of impact of event was significantly related to the parent's level of impact of event (p<.001). The student's high CDI score showed positive correlation with high level of impact of event (p<.001). In addition, higher level of the student's perceived emotional support and understandability of family showed association with lower level of impact of event (p<.01, p<.05). Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that the psychiatric sequelae of school violence is seriously affected by family support and parent's level of impact of event. Therefore, more active intervention is needed for both students and their parents.
The purpose of this study was to examine developmental trends in children's understanding of the effect of emotion on moral transgressions. The subjects were 120 children, 15 boys and 15 girls each at 4, 6, 8, and 10 years of age. The subjects listened to the moral transgression stories which were revised by this investigator based on Arsenio and Kramer's(1992) study. They reported their emotional attribution, justification, and emotional intensity about the story children engaged in moral transgression. The data of the present study were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and 2-way ANOVA for repeated measures. The results showed that (1) most of the children expected victimizers to feel happy. While happy responses decreased with age, fear responses increased with age. Most of the four-year-olds expected victims to feel sad, but 6-, 8-, and 10-year-olds expected anger. (2) Most children justified victimizers' emotions in terms of the outcome produced by victimization. This outcome-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. In contrast, most children justified victims' emotion in terms of the victimization. This victimization-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. (3) Most children viewed physical harm more negatively than theft on the part of victims.
The current study examined the relationships between disaster victims' post-trauma risk and posttraumatic growth, and the mediational role of social support for this relationships. In addition, we tested the hypothesis that income status would moderate the relationship between post-trauma risk and subjective well-being. Two hundred disaster victims completed Post-trauma Risk Checklist (PRC), Posttraumatic growth scale, Social support scale and Concise Measure of Subjective Well-Being (COMOSWB) as well as questions about their demographic characteristics. Results showed that those with high post-trauma risk demonstrated significantly higher levels of posttraumatic growth as compared to those with low post-trauma risk and social support partially mediated this relationship. Also, high levels of post-trauma risk predicted low levels of recent subjective well-being. Participants with high income obtained higher subjective well-being than did those with low income among high post-trauma risk groups. Implications for post-trauma risk and posttraumatic growth are discussed.
The wife-abuse is a seriously threatening factor with victim's wellbeing and health. This study was performed to analyze the victims' experiences of wife-abuse to prepare the basis of nursing intervention for them. The participants of study were 96 women who counseled with W counselling center for wife-abuse from January 1996 to August 1997 in Cheju. Data were gathered through the unstructured interviews(telephone, face-to-face and letter) by trained 3 members of the center. The collected data were analyzed to reveal the characteristics of wives and husbands, the modes of wife-abuse, the influences of abuse to wives and the coping styles of wives. The modes of wife-abuse were analyzed and classified using the power and control wheel model of Pence et al. The results of study unveiled that the wife-abuse behaviors were used to control the wife physically, sexually, economically, and psychologically and to maintain the abuse situation. We have to understand the dominant regime of our society, ie the patriarchy that controls the women's labor power, production power and personality, to approach the victims' of wife-abuse and to provide the proper nursing interventions for them.
141,841 car-to-car collision had occurred in 2003, and among the accidents 51,796 were rear-end impact. According to insurance company for loss or damage, more than $60\%$ of rear-end impact victims suffer neck injury. This means at least 31,000 neck injury victims have happened in 2003. More than $97\%$ of the neck injury victims have low severity injury than A.I.S 2. Head restraint, which is designed to limit rearward head movement and equipped on seat, can considerably protect neck from rear-end impact. In this paper we evaluated head restraint geometry and drivers' sitting position according to RCAR standard and carried out low speed volunteer crash test. The crash speed is 4km/h and N.I.C value is used to determine injury probability. Through these research results we can introduce the method to prevent neck injury at rear-end impact.
The purpose of this study is to identify the type of attitude toward the sexual violence and to analyze the structure of subjectivity about the sexual violence. Q-methodological method was used.
