The paper presents a novel approach of constructing the state matrix of the multi-machine power system for SSR (subsynchronous resonance) analysis using the linearized equations of individual devices including electrical transmission network dynamics. The machine models in the local d-q reference frame are integrated with the network models in the common R-I reference frame by simply transforming their output equations into the R-I frame where the transformed output is used as the input to the network dynamics or vice versa. The salient feature of the formulation is that it allows for modular construction of various component models without rearranging the overall state space formulation. This universal SSR small signal stability program provides a flexible tool for systematic analyses of SSR small-signal stability impacts of both conventional devices such as generation systems and novel devices such as power electronic apparatus and their controllers. The paper also presents its application results to IEEE benchmark models.

The projections from the dorsal raphe (DR) to the locus coeruleus (LC) or vice versa were analyzed in the rat using an anterograde tracer, Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin (PHA-L) combined with serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) or dopamine-beta-hydroxylase (DBH) immunostaining. Following the injection of PHA-L into the middle DR, DR-originating fibers with varicosities have contacted DBH-immunolabeled cells in the rostral, middle, and caudal LC. Axon terminals were also observed in the subcoeruleus nucleus. When the PHA-L injection was confined within the caudal DR, axonal fibers with varicosities were observed mainly at the rostral pole of the LC. Following the injection of PHA-L into the caudal, principal LC, labeled fibers with varicosities have contacted 5-HT-immunolabeled neurons at dorsomedial, ventromedial, lateral wing, and caudal sub-divisions of the DR. The present anterograde study suggests that the DR or the LC nuclei communicate with each other in order to perform a variety of functions including vigilance, analgesia, and stress responses.

This investigation was performed to test the readability of the video based digital radiography, that can be applied clinically, compared with the periapical radiograph. The experiments were performed with IBM-PC/AT compatible, video camera and ADC (analog-digital converter). And spatial resolution was 512 X 480 with 256 (8 bit) gray levels. The radiographs obtained by using variable steps of exposure time were digitized. and then the digital images were analyzed. The obtained results were as follows: 1. There was no remarkable difference in readability between the radiographs and their digital images. However, under over exposure the digital images were superior to the radiographs in readability and vice versa. 2. As the exposure time was increased, the gray level of the digital image was decreased proportionally. 3. The correlation beween the regions of interest and the aluminum step wedges were relatively close; R=0.9965 (p <0.001).

Design of electronic circuit should be both economical and reliable. If we put weight on economy, reliability will be lessened vice versa. But in some cases, a Designer should do exact design looking down upon economy. Especially, in integrated circuit, we should design as exactly as possible without much tolerance. In my thesis, I have studied the method for the exact design without much consideration in economy, and I also have developed Monte carlo Simulation program which can be operated by new generation of pseudo random number. Here, in my study, I have found out that new generation of pseudo random number was much more superior to any methods suggested by orthers.

In this study, we have investigated the meaning and mechanism of the 'construction' in the operational constructivism and the social constructivism. According to Piaget, a mathematical concept is the operational sch me, which is constructed through the reflective abstraction from a general coordination of activities and operations. The process of the reflective abstraction consists of 'reflechissement'and 'reflexion'. The reflechissement starting from 'intriorisation' concludes with 'thematisation', and the reflexion consists in the 'equilibration' of the result of reflechissement. The 'construction' in the social constructivism includes two process. One is the process from the individual, subjective knowledge of mathematics to the social, objective knowledge of mathematics, and the other is vice versa. The emphases is placed on the 'social interaction' and the 'representation' in this two processes. In this context, if we want to apply the social constructivism, we should clarify the meaning of 'society', and consider the difference between the society of mathematicians and the society of students.

This study investigated the perception of emotional voices by transplanting some or all of the prosodic aspects, i.e. pitch, duration, and intensity, of the utterances produced with emotional voices onto those with normal voices and vice versa. Listening evaluation by 24 raters revealed that prosodic effect was greater than segmental & vocal quality effect on the preception of the emotion. The degree of influence of prosody and that of segments & vocal quality varied according to the type of emotion. As for fear, prosodic elements had far greater influence than segmental & vocal quality elements whereas segmental and vocal elements had as much effect as prosody on the perception of happy voices. Different amount of contribution to the perception of emotion was found among prosodic features with the descending order of pitch, duration and intensity. As for the length of the utterances, the perception of emotion was more effective with long utterances than with short utterances.

The COMS(Communication, Ocean & Meteorological Satellite)is the geostationary satellite which will be performing three main objectives such as meteorological service, ocean monitoring and Ka-band satellite communications. This paper presents the analysis of the electromagnetic radiated compatibility between COMS satellite and the ARIANE 5 launch vehicle. As a conclusion, a good level of confidence can be given at present time to demonstrate the compatibility between the spacecraft and the launcher, and vice versa. No threat has been identified regarding the other units powered during launch mode.

Drawing upon the resource-based-view of a firm, we investigate the moderating role of operations efficiency on the link between environmental and financial performance. Extant literature has highlighted that operations efficiency is closely associated with the environmental/financial performance of firms, but no empirical study has investigated how operations efficiency affects the link between environmental and financial performance. We argue that operations efficiency could act as a moderator of this relationship. To test the hypothesized relationships, we have used available secondary quantitative UK data, namely data on the environmental/financial performance of Britain's most admired companies. By employing moderated regression analysis, we have found strong evidence for the moderating impact of operations efficiency. Our results are useful to managers in that they show that improvements in operations efficiency in a company can also help improve environmental/financial performance and vice versa.

Polymer solar cells are fabricated using electrospray (e-spray) deposition process. It shows comparable performance with reference devices, and has different characteristics according to the thickness of the active layer: In the case of the devices with higher fill factor, it shows relatively lower current density, and vice versa. These films are characterized by atomic force microscopy measurement. The results indicate that the comparable power conversion efficiency made by e-spray results from the 'solvent annealing effect' by process conditions and the different thin film property is caused by the degree of self-organization of the polymer.

Let us consider the special Randers change of Finsler metric LlongrightarrowL = L + $\beta$ by $\beta$. On the basis of this special Randers change, the purpose of the present paper is devoted to studying the conditions for Finsler space F(sup)n which are transformed by a special Randers change of Finsler spaces F(sup)n with ($\alpha$,$\beta$)-metrics of Douglas type to be also of Douglas type, and vice versa.
