This paper is concerned with the vibration measurement of cable by image processing technique. The measurement system consists of a CCD camera and zoom lens. The image data can be transferred to PC via USB or IEEE1394 port. In this study, a Matlab program was made to process the acquired image data. After acquiring an image data for each frame, this data is binarized for tracing cable vibrations. Then the area occupied by the cable is marked by 1 and the background is covered by 0. In this way, we can calculate the displacement of the cable. Experimental results show that the tracing of cable displacements is possible and natural frequencies and mode shapes can be computed. The accuracy of the image processing system for vibration measurement depends on the maximum frame rate of the CCD camera. The use of a high-speed camera enables us to compute more higher modes. The laboratory experiments guarantee the vibration measurement of real transmission lines.
Vibration performance of a 6 kW stand-alone wind turbine(W/T) generator is investigated under the wind environment of Daegwanryung mountain area. In the W/T, wind condition, power performance and structural stability are correlated each other An integrated monitoring system which consists of accelerometers, anemometers, power meters and auxiliary sensors for atmospheric data are constructed to measure the required data simultaneously. Based upon the data acquired over a long period of time, vibration performance of the W/T structure is estimated with annual wind data and generating power performance. Within the operating speed range, possibility of severe nitration is diagnosed. Vibration sources are identified and countermeasures are proposed. The goal of the study is to offer the basic information on W/T vibration performance at the design stage of a small stand alone W/T structure.
In times of war or emergencies, weapon systems, such as radars, must receive stable power. This can be achieved using improved onboard portable power systems made of steel containers. However, a breakdown can occur in the event of random vibration during transportation via a vehicle or train. Electrical-power shortages or restrictions pose a significant threat to security. In this study, Composite Wheeled Vehicle(CWV) data and rail cargo data with Acceleration Spectral Density(ASD), specified in MIL-STD-810H METHOD 514.8, were interpreted as input data of the three-axis random vibration method using ANSYS 19.2. Modal analysis was performed up to 500 Hz, and deformations in modes 1 to 117 were calculated to utilize all ASD data. The maximum equivalent stress in the three-axis direction was obtained using a random vibration analysis. Similarly, the margin of safety was calculated using the derived equivalent stress and material properties. Overall, the analysis verified that the portable container designed for the power supply system satisfied the required vibration demands.
We report the new design of a miniature electromagnetic actuator for probe-based data storage with anti-vibration mechanism. The actuator consists of a media substrate, silicon frame, 2 pairs of magnets, a spacer, and a printed circuit board (PCB). The total area of the device is $11.2{\times}11.2 mm^2$ while the data recording area is $7.4{\times}7.4 mm^2$. A net momentum fee structure was included for high vibration resistance. The simulation shows that the lateral vibration can be reduced to below 100 nm for 1 G acceleration if the counter mass is adjusted with $1\%$ difference. The peak power for ${\pm}50 {\mu}m$ displacement is below 50 mW for a actuator with a resonance at 200 Hz.
The automated scanning laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) has been designed, and built to measure in-plane displacements associated with waves propagating on vibrating structures. Use of optical fibers allows the compact design of a laser probe head which can be scanned over the vibrating structures. An algorithm for automated self-alignment of the laser probe is developed. The system is completely automated for scanning over the structures, focusing two laser beams at each data point until the detected vibration signal is stable, and for recording and transferring the data to a system computer. The automated system allows one to get extensive data of the vibration field over the structures. The system is tested by scanning a piezoelectric cylindrical shell and a plate excited by a continuous signal and by a pulse signal, respectively. Results show that the automated scanning LDV system can be a useful tool to measure the in-plane vibration field and to detect the elastic waves propagating on the vibrating structures.
The power flow analysis(PFA) can be effectively used to predict structural vibration in medium-to-high frequency ranges. In this paper, vibration experiment has been performed to observe the analytical characteristics of the power flow analysis of the vibration of a plate. In the experiment, the loss factor of the plate and the input mobility at a source point have been measured. The data for the loss factor has been used as the input data to predict the vibration of the plate with PFA. The frequency response functions have been measured over the surface of the plate. The comparison between the experimental results and the predicted results for the frequency responsefunctionshasbeenperformed.
The objective of this paper is to develop an experimental technique to measure the in-plane vibration intensity of a plate. In order to measure the in-plane vibration intensity at a data point, the frequency response functions for the 2 components of an acceleration vector are measured at each point of 4 points in the neighborhood of the data point. This experimental technique has been implemented to measure the in-plane vibration intensity of a plate. The experimental result has been compared with a theoretical result. It showed that the experimental technique can be effectively used to measure the in-plane vibration intensity of plates.
As bridge design is advancing toward the performance-based design. it becomes increasingly important to monitor and re-evaluate the long-term structural performance of bridges. Such information is essential in developing performance criteria for design. In this research. sensor systems for long-term structural performance monitoring have been installed on two highway bridges. Pre1iminary vibration measurement and data analysis have been performed on these instrumented bridges. On one bridge, ambient vibration data have been collected. based on which natural frequencies and mode shapes have been extracted using various methods and compared with those obtained by the preliminary finite element analysis. On the other bridge, braking and bumping vibration tests have been carried out using a water truck In addition to ambient vibration tests. Natural frequencies and mode shapes have been derived and the results by the breaking and bumping vibration tests have been compared. For the development of a three dimensional baseline finite element model, the new methodology using a neural network is proposed. The proposed one have been verified and applied to develop the baseline model of the bridge.
In order that precision equipment using high precision industrial operate normally. vibration criteria of expected area that equipment be set up is micrometer level. that method is a trust design for apply to in field, when there attend to quantifiable method. Hence, semi -empirical method that using on the basis of experimental data about undefined information (properities of vibration source, dynamic properities of structure, etc.,) for prediction of vibration response make the use of dynamic structure design of semiconductor & TFT-LCD in the inside and outside country. Like this, for doing an optimal design of dynamic about structure, it is best important to get trust data that apply to semi-empirical method that is method of prediction vibration level. In this paper, on the basis of experimental data which was offered by a manufacturing company Of precisin equipment that plan to set up in semiconductor factory, we predicted vibration response on expected area that equipment be set up.
