경사조사(傾斜照射) 강판튜브 방사선 관측영상의 수직 방향 공간분석 (Vertical Space Analysis for Gradient Radiating Steel-tube Radiographic Image)

  • In this paper we propose an directional analytic approach in image data space for X-ray image which is detected from the X-ray projection system. Such a radiographic nondestructive testing has long been used for steel-tube inspection and weld monitoring. The welded area and thickness of steel-tube are detected from gradient radiating mechanism based on the evaluation of biased X-ray source position. The welded area is an ellipse type on low contrast X-ray image including noise. Noise originates from most of elements of the system. such as shielding CCD camera, imaging screen, X-ray source, inspected object, electronic circuits and etc.. Projection incorrectness and noise influence on imaging quality is to be represented by vertical pixels' distribution. Space analysis due to vertical direction also shows the segmental possibility between regions by visual edge evaluation.

Testing of rubber bearings for the dynamic damper of seismic isolated buildings

  • The paper describes the testing facilities and the methodology on testing of laminated rubber bearings envisaged for application in the system of Dynamic Damper (DD) of seismic isolated buildings, as well as the obtained results. For the first time in Armenia laminated rubber bearings were tested simultaneously under the action of horizontal shear force and vertical tension force. The test results have proven the possibility of using rubber bearings as elements subjected to tension due to action of the mass of DD. Also it was confirmed that the suggested structural concept of DD for reducing the displacements and shear forces of seismic isolation systems will have reliable behavior during the design level earthquakes.

상사성을 고려한 배수재 설치 연약점토 지반의 원심모델링 (Centrifuge Modeling of Soft Clay with Vertical Drains Considering the Centrifuge Similarity)

  • This paper is results of experimental research on the effect of application of similarity related to permeability of soil on the consolidation behavior as centrifuge modeling of consolidation is performed with the centrifuge model facility. In this research, the permeability of soil was controlled by changing the viscosity of porewater as the mixed water with glycerin was used during the centrifuge model experiments. The effect of drainage path on consolidation was investigated by installing the vertical drains. A serise of centrifuge model tests with conditions of single vertical and radial horizontal drainage were carried out. Kaolinite and Jumunjin standard sand were used as soft clay and surcharges respectively during tests. For testing condition of single vertical drainage considering similarity of permeability, it was found that consolidation with mixed porewater with glycerin was delayed in comparisons sons with test results with water only. For conditions of horizontal drainage with vertical drains, a low permeability by changing the viscosity of pore water resulted in delayed degree of consolidation at an initial stage of consolidation. But, it predicted not much differences in settlement as long as the consolidation time was sufficiently long enough to finish consolidation. Consequently, it was found that similarity in permeability should be considered to be critical for the case of centrifuge model experiments related to consolidation with long drainage path.

Full-scale tests and finite element analysis of arched corrugated steel roof under static loads

  • Arched Corrugated Steel Roof (ACSR) is a kind of thin-walled steel shell, composing of arched panels with transverse small corrugations. Four full-scale W666 ACSR samples with 18m and 30m span were tested under full and half span static vertical uniform loads. Displacement, bearing capacities and failure modes of the four samples were measured. The web and bottom flange in ACSR with transverse small corrugations are simplified to anisotropic curved plates, and the equivalent tensile modulus, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio of 18m span ACSR were measured. Two 18 m-span W666 ACSR samples were analyzed with the Finite Element Analysis program ABAQUS. Base on the tests, the limit bearing capacity of ACSR is low, and for half span loading, it is 74-75% compared with the full span loading. When the testing load approached to the limit value, the bottom flange at the sample's bulge place locally buckled first, and then the whole arched roof collapsed suddenly. If the vertical loads apply along the full span, the deformation shape is symmetric, but the overall failure mode is asymmetric. For half span vertical loading, the deformation shape and the overall failure mode of the structure are asymmetric. The ACSR displacement under the vertical loads is large and the structural stiffness is low. There is a little difference between the FEM analysis results and testing data, showing the simplify method of small corrugations in ACSR and the building techniques of FEM models are rational and useful.

동수경사 변화에 따른 연직배수재의 통수능 (Discharge Capacity for Vertical Drain Boards with Hydraulic Gradient Variation)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내에서 사용하고 있는 연직배수재의 통수능시험 평가방법과 국내 관련 시방기준들을 고찰하고 연직배수재통수능 시험시 결과에 영향을 미치는 인자로 동수경사 변화에 따른연직배수재의 통수능 시험 결과를 분석하였다. 국내 연직배수재의 통수능 평가시험방법으로 기존 Delft 방법에 근거한 KS K 0940(2008)이 최근 한국표준으로 등재되었으며, 이 시험방법을 사용하는 경우 동수경사의 변화에 따라 연직배수재의 통수능의 차이가 크게 나타날 가능성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 수직분리 및 수직통합의 경험이 함께 존재하는 유럽철도의 자료를 기존연구에서 사용된 바 없는 Simar and Wilson(2008)의 붓스트랩을 활용한 효율성에 관한 가설검정방법으로 분석하여 수직분리가 철도산업의 운영효율성과 어떤 관련성을 가지고 있는지를 밝혀보고자 하였다. 1998년부터 2005년까지의 20개 유럽국가의 자료를 분석한 결과 검정통계량의 관측값은 수직분리구조를 가진 국가의 철도산업이 수직통합구조를 가졌거나 또는 지주회사의 형태로 수직통합을 유지하고 있는 국가의 철도산업보다 상대적으로 운영효율성이 높게 타나났으나 그러한 차이가 통계적으로 뒷받침되지는 못하였다.

Testing of Load Capacity of a Foil Thrust Bearing

  • In this study, the performance of foil thrust bearings was investigated by performing bearing take-off and load capacity tests, using an in-house designed and manufactured vertical bearing test rig. The mean take-off rotational speed and maximum load capacity of the bearing specimen were ~18,000 rpm and ~80 kPa, respectively. The vertical bearing test rig was observed to yield higher coefficients of friction and frictional torques than a horizontal bearing test rig under identical test conditions. This was a result of its structural characteristics, in that the bearing specimen is placed atop the thrust runner, which keeps it from being separated from the runner after the bearing take-off. In addition, bearing take-off was observed at a higher runner rotational speed as this structure keeps air from flowing between the top foil and runner surfaces, which requires a higher runner speed. The parallel alignment between the bearing specimen and runner surfaces can be maintained within a certain range more easily in a vertical test rig than in a horizontal test rig. Because of these advantages, Korean Industrial Standard, KS B 2060, recommends a vertical bearing test rig as the standard test device for foil thrust bearings.

편대비행에서 후방 항공기의 위치 안전성 분석 (Positional Stability Analysis of Trailing Aircraft in Formation Flight)

  • Positional stability analysis based on aerodynamic forces and induced moments of formation flight using two small aircraft models is presented. The aerodynamic force and moments of the trailing aircraft are analyzed in the aspect of flight stability. The induced moments with the change of local flow direction by wing-tip vortex from the leading aircraft can affect the flight positional stability of aircraft in closed formation flight. Aerodynamic forces and moments of trailing aircraft model are measured by 6-component internal balance at the 49 locations with vertical and lateral space between two aircraft models. Results are shown that the positional stability of trailing aircraft in formation flight can be analyzed by positional stability derivatives with vertical and lateral space. It is concluded that flying positions can be important factors for aircraft position stability due to induced aerodynamic force and moments with vertical and lateral spacing by the variation of flow pattern from the leading aircraft in formation flight.

  • In this study, aerodynamic analyses based on unsteady computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have been conducted for a 2-bladed vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) configuration. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ and SST $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. The experiment model of 2-bladed VAWT has been designed and tested in this study. Aerodynamic experiment of the present VAWT model are effectively conducted using the vehicle mounted testing system. The comparison result between the experiment and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis are presented in order to verify the accuracy of CFD modeling with different turbulent models.
