  • This study attempts to compare the National Library of Korea (NLK)'s cataloging in publication(CIP) records with their permanent records in the National Library of Korea(NLK)'s online public access catalogue(OPAC) database. This study compares the description of records in the NLK CIP versus NLK OPAC in terms of similarities and differences in the bibliographic elements for each record. The study selected the NLK's CIP records from November to December 2008, allowing to publish the registered CIP titles and also the NLK to make the records avaliable in their OPAC database. The finding indicate that libraries that use NLK's CIP records in their copy cataloging activity should not rely 100 per cent on the records. Verifications and modifications need to be carried out to ensure accuracy and quality of their catalogue records.

  • The Korea Integrated Model (KIM)-based real-time volcanic ash dispersion prediction system, which employs the Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model, has been developed to quantitatively predict volcanic ash dispersion in East Asia and the Northwest Pacific airspace. This system, known as KIM-HYSPLIT, automatically generates forecasts for the vertical and horizontal spread of volcanic ash up to 72 hours. These forecasts are initiated upon the receipt of a Volcanic Ash Advisory (VAA) from the Tokyo Volcanic Ash Advisory Center by the server at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). This system equips KMA forecasters with diverse volcanic ash prediction information, complemented by the Unified Model (UM)-based HYSPLIT (UM-HYSPLIT) system. Extensive experiments have been conducted using KIM-HYSPLIT across 128 different volcanic scenarios, along with qualitative comparisons with UM-HYSPLIT. The results indicate that the ash direction predictions from KIM-HYSPLIT are consistent with those from UM-HYSPLIT. However, there are slight differences in the horizontal extent and movement speed of the volcanic ash. Additionally, quantitative verifications of the KIM-HYSPLIT forecasts have been performed, including threat score evaluations, based on recent eruption cases. On average, the KIMHYSPLIT forecasts for 6 and 12 hours show better quantitative alignment with the VAA forecasts compared to UM-HYSPLIT. Nevertheless, both models tend to predict a broader horizontal spread of the ash cloud than indicated in the VAA forecasts, particularly noticeable in the 6-hour forecast period.

  • In order to analyze the dynamic motions of fish cage systems made of a frame and a netting under the conditions of waves and current, the hydraulic model experiment at towing tank and the numerical computation using boundary integral element method based on linear potential theory were carried out on a square and a circular type of fish cage, The computed and measured results for the dynamic motions of model fish cage systems showed that the heave and pitch motions were almost unaffected by the inclusion of nets, while the surge motions were very reduced by drag force acting on them. In addition, irregular wave-induced motions of fish cages included non-negligible 2nd order harmonic components at high frequency nearly twice the wave frequency. The reason why these motions were considered was due to resonance or structural components of frames being overflown and out of water during a wave cycle. It was found that circular type was more desirable structure in the open sea than square one only in the respect of dynamic motions due to waves and current. Further verifications were needed considering hydrodynamic forces, fatigue life, and structure analysis based on long term stochastic waves including frequency and time domain for the purpose of analyzing and designing fish cage systems.

  • The airborne LiDAR which was introduced in the early 2000's provides the point data. The new methods for the verification of LiDAR materials with high accuracy which is different from the existing airborne survey are needed. In accordance with the rules of airborne laser survey which were enacted in 2009, the verifications by three methods of Unmeasured Rate and point accuracy, point density have been executed, and Unmeasured Rate is to evaluate the rate for the presence of points within uniform grids except non-reflective areas such as watershed areas. For the calculation of Unmeasured Rate, non-reflective areas should be removed by all means, and in case of normal LiDAR materials, as there are scant points for watershed areas, watershed areas should be divided by additional spatial information. So, in this study, the watershed areas were extracted using domain extension technique from the high resolution CIR images of 0.3m grade. In addition, in order to compare the accuracy of Unmeasured Rate calculated, the comparative analysis of the Unmeasured Rate calculated by digital maps has been done. In conclusion, we found that 1I1e accuracy of Unmeasured Rate extracted by domain extension technique is similar to the value extracted by digitizing technique.

  • PMS (Pavement Management System) of National highways in Korea has used HDM (Highway Development and Management)-4 developed by World Bank for decision-making for maintenance and rehabilitation of pavements. However using HDM-4 is not appropriate in Korea because HDM-4 requires excessive input factors for analysis and economic analysis models loaded in HDM-4 are not suitable for Korean circumstances. Thus this study aims development of decision-making system for effective pavement management with reflecting Korean circumstances. Moreover this study proposed to define component of system, deterioration models, and basic units for component, and to analyze characteristics of component of system, and also to develop optimal decision-making system. The decision-making system for PMS mainly consists of 1) DB of highways, traffics, and socio-economic index, 2) pavement deterioration model, 3) speed prediction models by pavement conditions, 4) economic evaluation models, and 5) decision-making supporting system. Also this study provided analysis results in case studies for system verifications. However pavement deterioration models considering future probabilistic characteristic and index of decision-making are needed to develop for a further study.

  • Random numbers are used in many sorts of applications. Some applications, like simple software simulation tests, communication protocol verifications, cryptography verification and so forth, need various levels of randomness with various process speeds. In this paper, we propose a fast pseudorandom generator module for embedded systems. The generator module is implemented in hardware which can run in two modes, one of which can generate random numbers with higher randomness but which requires six cycles, the other providing its result within one cycle but with less randomness. An ASIP (Application Specific Instruction set Processor) was designed to implement the proposed pseudorandom generator instruction sets. We designed a processor based on the MIPS architecture,, by using LISA, and have run statistical tests passing the sequence of the Diehard test suite. The HDL models of the processor were generated using CoWare's Processor Designer and synthesized into the Dong-bu 0.18um CMOS cell library using the Synopsys Design Compiler. With the proposed pseudorandom generator module, random number generation performance was 239% faster than software model, but the area increased only 2.0% of the proposed ASIP.

  • Concerning post-verification which is after the application of FTA preferential tariffs, in cases such as Korea-EFTA and Korea-ASEAN, the growing trend of post-verifications was restricted and there was no active research concerning this; whereas with Korea-EU FTA which adopted indirect verification for post-verification, the demand for post-verification has been rising constantly each year; and for Korea-US FTA which has adopted direct verification, a new approach to post-verification research is needed as it began genuine post-verification regarding many national enterprises only after a year and a half since the agreement. This study will consider the counter measures that can be taken for post-verification, through case of studies on the factors influencing violation of determining the country of origin for export company regarding verification of FTA. Result of this case study regarding the determining a violation of origin, The main cause of the violation factors on the essential & general principles(goods wholly obtained, value added criteria) are lack of understanding agreement & manpower. but Violation of the parties to a transaction & the origin certification are lack of advanced preparation and effected violation of principle of good faith. Finally, In this study help countermeasures of export company through the Detailed analysis of the type & implications deriving from verification of origin.

  • In this study, as a preliminary study for developing a full 3D photon dose calculation algorithm, We developed 2.5D photon dose calculation algorithm by extending 2D calculation algorithm to allow non-coplanar configurations of photon beams. For this purpose, we defined the 3d patient coordinate system and the 3d beam coordinate system, which are appropriate to 3d treatment planning and dose calculation. and then, calculate a transformation matrix between them. For dose calculation, we extended 2d "Clarkson-Cunningham" model to 3d one, which can calculate wedge fields as well as regular and irregular fields on arbitrary plane. The simple Batho's power-law method was implemented as an inhomogeneity correction. We evaluated the accuracy of our dose model following procedures of AAPM TG#23; radiation treatment planning dosimetry verifications for 4MV of Varian Clinac-4. As results, PDDs (percent depth dose) of cubic fields, the accuracy of calculation are within 1% except buildup region, and $\pm$3% for irregular fields and wedge fields. And for 45$^{\circ}$ oblique incident beam, the deviations between measurements and calculations are within $\pm$4%. In the case of inhomogeneity correction, the calculation underestimate 7% at the lung/water boundary and overestimate 3% at the bone/water boundary. At the conclusions, we found out our model can predict dose with 5% accuracy at the general condition. we expect our model can be used as a tool for educational and research purpose.. purpose..

  • Optical observations of Geostationary and Molynia orbit spin-stabilized satellites over the Korean peninsula have been carried out at the Kyung Hee University Observatory with a 30 inch telescope. We have observed 5 spin-stabilized satellites, and obtained 0spin periods, which can be used for deducing a design for each bus model. Verifications of spin periods of 3 known satellites from manufacturer, and observations of 2 unknown satellites were made. The difference between known spin periods and observed spin periods is 0.06sec on the average and the difference of those spin rates is 3.3rpm on the average. Those results indicate that spin periods and spin rates of observed geostationary spin-stabilized satellites are within operating limits. Spin rates of unknown satellites, Fengyun 2B and Molynia 1-87 are 89.3rpm, 78.4rpm earh. It is suggested that the research of spin stabilized satellites can be used for the determinations of standard light sources for short period celestial objects and helpful for the constructions of satellite databases with photometric and/or spectroscopic satellite observations.

  • State invariant is a property that holds in every reachable state. It can be used not only in understanding and analyzing complex software systems, but it can also be used for system verifications such as checking safety, liveness, and consistency. For these reasons, there are many vital researches for deriving state invariant from finite state machine models. In previous works every reachable state is to be considered to generate state invariant. Thus it is likely to be too complex for the user to understand. This paper seeks to answer the question `how to simplify state invariant\ulcorner`. Since the complexity of state invariant is strongly dependent upon the size of states to be considered, so the smaller the set of states to be considered is, the shorter the length of state invariant is. For doing so, we let the user focus on some interested scopes rather than a whole state space in a model. Computation Tree Logic(CTL) is used to specify scopes in which he/she is interested. Given a scope in CTL, mixed reachability analysis is used to find out a set of states inside it. Obviously, a set of states calculated in this way is a subset of every reachable state. Therefore, we give a weaker, but comprehensible, state invariant.
