Development of Hybrid Method for the Prediction of Internal Flow-induced Noise and Its Application to Throttle Valve Noise in an Automotive Engine

  • General algorithm is developed for the prediction of internal flow-induced noise. This algorithm is based on the integral formula derived by using the General Green Function, Lighthill's acoustic analogy and Curl's extension of Lighthill's. Novel approach of this algorithm is that the integral formula is so arranged as to predict frequency-domain acoustic signal at any location in a duct by using unsteady flow data in space and time, which can be provided by the Computational Fluid Dynamics Techniques. This semi-analytic model is applied to the prediction of internal aerodynamic noise from a throttle valve in an automotive engine. The predicted noise levels from the throttle valve are compared with actual measurements. This illustrative computation shows that the current method penn its generalized predictions of flow noise generated by bluff bodies and turbulence in flow ducts.

The Performance of Venture Company from the Perspective of Resource-based Theory : Focusing on Technology-driven vs. Management-driven Ventures (자원기반이론 관점에서의 벤처기업 성과에 관한 연구 : 기술주도 vs. 경영주도의 차이를 중심으로)

  • 본 연구는 벤처기업의 매출액의 영향요인에 대하여 기업 내 자원을 범주화하여 그 영향력을 검증하고, 나아가 기업이 보유한 역량을 2개의 차원으로 구분하여 각 차원에 따른 집단 간 벤처기업성과 영향요인의 차이를 확인하고자 하였다. 즉, 기업이 보유하는 역량인 기술, 가격, 품질, 디자인, 조직관리, 마케팅 경쟁력에 대하여 요인분석을 통해 기술역량과 경영역량 차원을 도출하였고, 군집화 과정을 거쳐 각 역량 수준에 따른 네 개의 벤처기업 집단을 분류하였다. 네 개의 집단은 기술-경영 우위, 기술주도, 경영주도, 기술-경영 열위로 나뉘었다. 이후 성과 영향요인들을 자원기반이론의 관점에서 기업현황, 기업가자원, 인적자원, 재무자원, 기술자원, 외부자원의 여섯 개의 상위 범주로 구분하였고, 각 범주에 포함되는 세부 요인들이 매출액에 미치는 영향을 '벤처기업정밀실태조사'의 2개년 데이터를 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫 번째, 전체 벤처기업을 대상으로 분석한 결과 모형에 투입된 33개의 변수들 중 22개의 변수가 벤처기업 매출액에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것이 확인되었다. 두 번째, 기업 역량 차원 분류에 따른 기업 집단 간 영향요인 차이를 분석한 결과, 매출액 영향요인은 입력된 33개의 독립변수 중 최대 13개에서 최소 8개로, 기업 역량 차원에 따른 매출액 영향요인의 차이가 확인되었다.

  • The information security (information security knowledge) industry is technology-intensive, high value-added industries. South Korea's response has excellent ICT skills and experience and skills in a variety of cyber attacks, has become a benchmark in the world. However, the small size of the domestic information security company, supporting infrastructure is lacking. Domestic information security industry is the primary condition to activate the export. In order to export it is necessary to develop for the Korean Cybersecurity Goods Menu for products, services and technologies of the domestic information security industry. Buyer Menu as well as foreign and domestic Seller, companies and governments know the details of the assets and product information security industry and is a prerequisite to sell. In this paper, I study the Korean Cybersecurity Goods Menu development.

  • ERP is the Enterprise Resource Planning System developed from MRP aiming at effective management of the manufacture material. Until recently, the part of ERP solution has been led by domestic solution company. But, as foreign solution companies go into developing ERP solution, Korea became a battle ground of ERP solution. This situation requires the effort for quality improvement. The main theme of this study is development of quality measurement method of ERP system about construction field. We developed the method of quality characteristics system and quality measurement metrics, and proposed an effective evaluating method by application case. We expect that this study is a great help in measuring the construction part ERP system through the application about quality measurement.

  • This paper is concerned about how to increase household income by cultivation of specialty herbal medicines in JeonBuk Province, which is summarized as below: 1. Specialty plant cultivation is considered appropriate in this province, since the quality of soil is good and sandy, together with the warmer climate and little rainfall. 2. It is recommended for the efficiency of production that the cultivation is performed item by item in large scales, for which it is desirable to organize working group unit for each specialty plant item. 3. It is suggested to establish a special union, such as a venture company model, for the effective processing of specialty plants into herbal medicines. 4. It is desirable that the processed herbal medicine products are supplied to consumers via a direct distribution route. 5. It is supposed possible that foods And drugs can be further developed from herbal medicines, which can make extra business.

The Strategy of Korean Firms to Enter Vietnam Market (한국 기업의 베트남 유통시장 진출 전략에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest strategies for Korean companies to overcome the limitation of the international trade structure between Korea and Vietnam. This study examined foreign multinational distribution companies, Korean distribution companies and domestic distribution companies in Vietnam. A SWOT analysis conducted to propose effective strategies revealed that Saigon Mart, Vietnam's largest regional mart company, needs an O/W strategy and to capture market opportunities quickly through strategic alliances with foreign distribution companies, in order to gradually complement their core competencies internally. Lotte mart in Vietnam, one of Korea's three largest marts, needs to establish a T/S strategy in order to overcome the crisis situation in Vietnam market and succeed in business. BIG C Mart has over 40,000 diverse products needs to use a T/S strategy in order to effectively overcome the crisis situation in the Vietnamese market and to increase the possibility of business success. From the study findings and conclusions, various implications are derived. Vietnam is still very strong in socialism and regional characteristics, so it needs to build up close cooperation such as joint venture with local partners in the region and strategic alliances to increase the possibility of investment success.

  • Purpose - Local social commerce market has grown up remarkably. And, Coupang has shown new delivery strategy of rocket delivery. Making new paradigm at local market, Coupang has expanded market scale. This study investigated state of local social commerce market, weight and promotion strategy of Coupang market to find out competitiveness edge of Coupang. Research design, data, and methodology - The study investigated state and concept of social commerce to find out state, problems and competitiveness of social commerce. New distribution service was short of precedent studies. Statistical analysis and experimental analysis were not used, and interview was done to investigate three of social commerce businesses. Results - CRM construction is insufficient to have poor system, Local delivery system could not be made enough at overnight delivery and customers were dissatisfied with ties with another company. Promotion shall be done by delivery system for increase of profitability, funding for more investment, chatbot to build new customer control system, and new delivery system to produce profit. Conclusions - Coupang and others have grown up rapidly to worsen profit and to jeopardize survival. Excessive initial investment has threatened the businesses, for instance, low sales of Amazon, excessive expenses, bench marking of logistics system, and others.

A Study on the Factors Influencing Technology Innovation Capability on the Knowledge Management Performance of the Company: Focused on Government Small and Medium Venture Business R&D Business (기술혁신역량이 기업의 지식경영성과에 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 정부 중소벤처기업 R&D사업을 중심으로)

  • Due to the recent mid- to long-term slump and falling growth rates in the global economy, interest in organizational structures that create new products or services as a new alternative to survive and develop in an opaque environment both internally and externally, and enhance organizational sustainability through changes in production methods and business innovation is increasing day by day. In this atmosphere, we agree that the growth of small and medium-sized venture companies has a significant impact on the national economy, and various efforts are being made to enhance the technological innovation capabilities of the members so that these small and medium-sized venture companies can enhance and sustain their performance. The purpose of this study is also to investigate how the technological innovation capabilities of small and medium-sized venture companies correlate with the performance of knowledge management and to analyze the role of network capabilities to organize the strategic activities of enterprise to obtain the resources and organizational capabilities to be used for value creation from external networks. In other words, research was conducted on the impact of technological innovation capabilities of small and medium venture companies on knowledge management performance by using network capabilities as parameters. Therefore, in this study, we would like to verify the hypothesis that innovation capabilities will have a positive impact on knowledge management performance by using network capabilities of small and medium venture companies. Economic activities based on technological innovation capabilities should respond quickly to new changes in an environment where uncertainty has increased, and lead to macro-economic growth and development as well as overcoming long-term economic downturns so that they can become the nation's new growth engine as well as sustainable growth and survival of the organization. In addition, this study was conducted by setting the most important knowledge management performance within the organization as a dependent variable. As a result, R&D and learning capabilities among technological innovation capabilities have no impact on financial performance. In contrast, it was shown that corporate innovation activities have a positive impact on both financial and non-financial performance. The fact that non-financial factors such as quality and productivity improvement are identified in the management of small and medium-sized venture companies utilizing their technological innovation capabilities is contrary to a number of studies by those corporate innovation activities affect financial performance during prior research. The reason for this result is that research companies have been out of start-up companies for more than seven years, but sales are less than 10 billion won, and unlike start-up companies, R&D and learning capabilities have more positive effects on intangible non-financial performance than financial performance. Corporate innovation activities have been shown to have a positive (+) impact on both financial and non-financial performance, while R&D and learning capabilities have a positive (+) impact on financial performance by parameters of network capability. Corporate innovation activities have been shown to have no impact on both financial and non-financial performance, and R&D and learning capabilities have no impact on non-financial performance. It could be seen that the parameter effects of network competency are limited to when R&D and learning competencies are derived from quantitative financial performance. An Analysis on Mediating Effect of Participant Activity in Investment Crowdfunding (투자형 크라우드펀딩에서 참여자활동성의 매개효과 분석)

  • Start-ups often use crowdfunding platforms such as Wadiz to get financing from corporate investors and general public. These platforms include functions to increase participant activity through the number of comments, interest and online word-of-mouth. This study aims to elucidate how these functions related to a participant activity exhibit mediating effects on a success of crowdfunding and an achievement rate of targeted investment amount. To this end, the individual variables such as progress period, target amount, venture company, experience of attracting investment, possession of intellectual property rights, a career of the representative and an award experience of the representative were classified into the project characteristics, the company characteristics and the representative characteristics through not only previous studies but also interviews with investment professionals and platform operators. Afterwards, this study went through an empirical verification process using a structural equation model that has both crowdfunding performance and participant activity, which is the independent and mediating factors of three perspectives, as well as the dependent variables. In other words, this study analyzes how the characteristics of three perspectives affect the participant activity and how the participant activity had the mediating effects on the crowdfunding performance. In addition, it derives how the analysis results mentioned above vary according to business types (internet services, culture/art, manufacturing/distribution) and investment styles (stock type and bond type). It is expected that this study will help not only in deriving the factors affecting the performance of an investment type crowdfunding but also in preparing the measures to increase a participant activity.

Lessons from Haitai Distribution Inc's experience in Korea

  • Owing to the rapid growth of hypermarket/discount store formats since 1996, Korean retailing has suddenly attracted the significant attention from researchers. Before the emergence of large scale retailers such as E-Mart, Lotte Mart and Tesco Korea, there were the two retail formats who led the Korean retailing in the modern retailing history: department store and supermarket formats. Nevertheless, there has been little literature concerned about the two retail formats as a case study, while some authors have paid their attention to hypermarket/discount store formats. In addition, when mentioning the development process of retailing history, it is less likely that authors have made an effort to illustrate supermarket retailing history. In order to regard supermarket retailing as part of the Korean retailing, it is interesting to look at a representative supermarket retailer, Haitai, who was one of the subsidiaries of Haitai chaebol. Based on supermarket retailing, the company which was established as a joint venture in 1974 led a supermarket retailing in the Korean modernised retailing history. Before analysing whether Haitai failed or not, the definition of failure should be illustrated. With regard to the term, failure, in the academic world, authors have interchangeably used the following terms: failure, divestment, closure, organisational restructuring, and exit. To collect research data as a case study, the author adopted an in-depth interview method. The research is based on research interviews with 13 ex-staff who left after Haitai went bankruptcy, from store management department to merchandise department. By investigating Haitai's experiences through field interviews, the research found that Haitai restructured organisational decision-making process at the early stage when companies started to modernise organisational charts, benchmarking sophisticated retailing knowledge through the strategic alliance with a Japanese retailer. In respect of buying system, the company established firmly buying functions by adopting central buying system, and further, outstandingly allocated considerable marketing resources to the development of retailer brands with the dedicated team of retailer brand development. In the grocery retailing, abandoning a 'no-frill' packaging concept, the introduction of retailer brand packaging equal to, or better than national brand packaging design, encouraged other retailers to change their retailer brand development strategies. In product sourcing ways, Haitai organised for the first time the overseas sourcing team with the aim of improving the profit margins of foreign products and providing exotic products for customers, followed by other retailers. Regarding distribution system, the company introduced the innovative idea which delivered products ordered by stores directly to each store withboth its own vehicles and its own warehouse in which could deal with dry foods, chilly foods, frozen food, and non-foods, and even, process produce. In addition, Haitai developed many promotional methods to attract more customers like 'the guarantee of the lowest price', and expanded its own business to US in 1996, although withdrew, because of bankruptcy in 1997. Together with POS introduction in 1994, Haitai made a significant contribution to the development of the Korean retailing, influencing other retailers in many aspects. As a case study, the study has provided a number of lessons from Haitai's experiences for academicians and practitioners, suggesting that its history should be involved in the Korean modernised retailing.
