In this paper a design procedure via computer-aided molding simulation is presented to optimize the air-trap locations in a speaker encloser of mobile phone. The molding flow simulation reveals that the race-tracking phenomenon is the dominant feature in the current mold design. In obtaining an optimal filling pattern, the local modifications of the wall thickness such as in a flow leader attachment are considered as the primary control factor, and both the gate position and the filling time become the secondary control factor. In the one-at-a-time approach, the last location to be filled in the mold cavity could be successfully moved to the extremities of the part, allowing a natural ventilation of entrapped air through the mold parting plane.
The ripening of cheese allows for the development of characteristic taste and flavour, nutritional substances, bio-active components and texture, helping to improve quality. Many different microbiological, biochemical and nutritional changes occur during the process depending on the quality of raw milk, added cultures and enzymes, as well as specific processing and ripening conditions. During the ripening lactose is hydrolyzed to lactic, propionic and acetic acid, helping to reduce potential effects of the problem of lactose intolerance. Fat is hydrolyzed to butyric, propionic and conjugated linoleic acid, which function as bio-active substances. Protein is hydrolyzed to different peptides and amino acids which all show various bio-activities. However, errors of cheese ripening can happen and affect the quality of the product. To guarantee good quality cheese the process needs to be managed carefully with the right microbes used and ensuring cleanliness of processing facilities, staff, ventilation and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP). Research into and controlling of ripening technology is crucial for producing high quality cheeses.
Radioactive organic wastes containing acetone, alcohol, and particularly tributyl phosphate (TBP)/dodecane contaminated with uranium are extracted from the PUREX process and the decontamination of related equipment. An evaporation method that utilizes existing DU oxidation apparatuses and ventilation systems and a typical muffle furnace installed with an aspirating system are adopted. A separation method using phosphoric acid especially for the TBP/dodecane waste is also studied and evaluated. The results show that a simple evaporation process is utilizable for wastes containing acetone or alcohol with a lower boiling point. A modified muffle furnace is more appropriate to dispose directly of organic wastes having a higher boiling point, such as TBP/dodecane, without generating a condensed waste solution. It is recommended that, when the uranium concentration of TBP/dodecane waste is much higher than stipulated levels, separation technology should be applied to remove uranium from the mixture. Each type of solvent after separation can then be considered disposable below the regulatory limit in the modified furnace discussed in this study.

The product developed in this study is a ceramic catalyst filter for 1 ton heavy-oil boiler that can simultaneously process dust and nitrogen oxides. This has been developed for simultaneous processing of nitrogen oxides and dust at high efficiency of hot exhaust gas (approximately $300^{\circ}C$) generated after burning 1 ton heavy oil boiler. Ceramic catalytic filters for 1 tonne heavy-duty glass display are technologies that remove 90% of dust and 85% or more of nitrogen oxides. This is an improved new technology to integrate exhaust ventilation and desiccation devices into one, thereby reducing the production process and improving the economy. To this end, the performance test of the catalytic filter for heavy oil boilers was carried out, and the durability of the PLC circuit was constructed.
Since the late 20th century, countries of the world have made every effort to solve environmental problems due to global warming. The Korean Government has also made various efforts on reducing energy and $CO_2$ emission under the motto of "Low-Carbon Green Growth". In order to achieve the goal to reduce energy in the construction field, severe design standards and regulations on saving energy in new buildings have been established. However, for maximizing the reduction of energy in buildings, it is time to focus on deteriorated buildings where applications of energy saving designs and techniques have been insufficient. Especially, there are little guidelines and researches on reducing energy through remodeling at deteriorated school buildings which were built over 20 years ago. This paper suggests the priority of factors to reduce energy on the remodeling process at deteriorated school buildings using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. For applying the AHP method, the survey of staffs in the Education Offices and board members in the Korea Institute of Ecological Architecture and Environment was conducted via e-mail. As a result, factors of insulation, daylighting, system control, and windows turned out important in the energy reducing remodeling process at deteriorated school buildings, while factors of artificial lighting, solar heating, ventilation, and system did relatively unimportant.
In this study, we performed basic researches to develop wet purification system for improving air qualities of ventilation in semiconductor manufacturing process. Using 0.5 M aqueous solution of $KMnO_4$, 50 ppm of $NH_3$, SOx and NOx were reduced to 99% successfully. However, the removal of $O_3$ was limited to $22{\sim}30%$ for all the tested chemical solutionsincluding $KMnO_4$. Therefore, adoption of a dry ozone filter is necessary to reduce $O_3$ below a satisfactory level. For all the chemical solutions tested, NOx removal efficiency increased as NOx was mixed with $O_3$. As chemical solution was sprayed using water spraying system equipped with air atomizing type nozzle, the removal efficiencies of gaseous pollutants increased due to the increase of gas-liquid interfacial area.

The school classroom is a common living place where students spend 7 to 14 hours a day to prepare for their careers. Therefore, if the ventilation of the classroom is not properly performed, it may lead to the deterioration of learning ability due to the unclear air. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the classroom is reported to be high, and the increase in carbon dioxide concentration has a negative effect on the learner's academic performance. In this context, the purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for intelligent and responsive window opening-closing operation process that can reduce the concentration of $CO_2$ in the classroom in order to build a support space that can create an effective teaching-learning environment for adolescents. The specific objectives are as follows. First of all, we define the concept of window opening-closing operation. Secondly, twe develop the operation process of window opening-closing. Thirdly, we develop an algorithm for real-time window opening and closing (process) (Window Opening-Closing Operation Process). Finally, we verify the intelligent responsive window opening-closing operation process through developing examples of window opening-closing operation process using the parametric design program. This study is a preliminary study to develop algorithms necessary for window opening-closing operation. Based on the first-order algorithm, We simulated window opening-closing operations according to a hypothetical scenario. As a result, This study can show that the window is open and close depending on the $CO_2$ concentration, but the $CO_2$ concentration in the room is higher than outdoors. Consequentially, we suggest that it is necessary to develop an algorithm to supplement these results because window is often not working when the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor in winter is large.

This study was aimed to assess the status of working environment, health care management status and cause of exposure in manufactories using dimethylformamide (DMF). For the purpose, airborne concentration of DMF in the workplaces and N-methylformamide (NMF) in worker's urine were measured with job type and process. In addition, management of local exhaust ventilation system (LEV) and personal protective equipment (PPE) was evaluated at 35 work places (107 workers) located in Busan and Gimhae area. Mean DMF concentrations in work places by job type and process were of high level measured in printing and record media reproduction (5.23 ppm) and flaking process (2.48 ppm). Workers in adhesive job were measured a large amount of urine NMF (21.59 mg/${\ell}$). 98.1% of DMF handling workers were provided respirators, but 67.3% of those workers used them. The main reasons for not using respirators were inconvenience and difficulty of breathing. Airborne concentrations of DMF were higher in the workplaces in which LEVs were working abnormally, but there was not statistically significant. In addition, the urine NMF levels were correlated with management of LEV within the workers who did not use the respirators (p<0.048). These results implied that LEV should be installed and maintained properly to protect the workers from the exposure to DMF. Management of PPE should be also necessary to protect the workers from chemical hazards.

The Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) has been applied to simulate a full-scale pool fire in well-confined and mechanically ventilated multi-compartments representative of nuclear power plant. The predictive performance of FDS was evaluated through a comparison of the numerical data with experimental data obtained by the OECD/NEA PRISME project. To identify clearly the FDS results regarding to the user-dependence in the process of FDS implementation except for the intrinsic limitation of FDS such as simple combustion model, only the over-ventilated fire condition was chosen. In particular, the importance of accurate boundary conditions (B.C.) in mechanically ventilated system were discussed in details. It was known from FDS results that the B.C. on inlet and outlet vents did significantly affect the thermal and chemical characteristics inside the compartments. Finally, it was confirmed that the FDS imposed an accurate ventilation B.C. provided qualitatively good agreement with temperatures, heat fluxes and concentrations measured inside the nuclear-type multi-compartments.
In case of a fire outbreak in a uni-directional road tunnel, the flow of traffic immediately behind the fire disaster will be stalled all the way back to the entrance of the tunnel. Furthermore, when the vehicle passengers try to flee away from the fire toward the entrance of the tunnel, the extremely hot fume that propagates in the same direction will be fatal to the multitudes evacuating, but may also cause damage to the ventilation equipments and the vehicles, compounding the evacuation process. This paper will present the 3-dimensional modelling analysis of the preventive measures of such a fume propagation in the same direction as the evacuating passengers. For the analysis, the fire hazard was assumed to be a perfect combustion of methane gas injected through the 1 m X 2 m nozzle in the middle of the tunnel, and the product of $CO_2$ as the indicator of the fume propagation. From the research results, when the fire hazard occurred in middle of the 400 m road tunnel, the air density decreased around the fire point, and the maximum temperatures were 996 K and 499 K at 210 m and 350 m locations, respectively, 60 seconds after fire disaster occurred, when the fumes were driven out only towards the exit-direction of the tunnel. By tracing the increase of $CO_2$ level over 1% mole fraction, the minimum longitudinal ventilation velocity was found to be 2.40 m/sec. Furthermore, through Analysis of the temperature distribution graphs, and observation of the cross-sectional distribution of $CO_2$ over 1% mole fraction, it was found that the fume did not mix with the air, but rather moved far in a laminar flow towards exit of the tunnel.
