The attractiveness of the textile fabrics are generally judged by visual or tactile evaluation methods. Since the surface of the textile materials are so diverse that the visual factors such as optical properties or luster of the fabrics are not easily measurable. While most of the cotton fabrics are not so much lustrous, calendering process could impart the cotton fabric better luster. Also, the general grade silk-like polyester fabrics resemble silk fabric with some limit in terms of luster properties. One of the interesting fabrics showing subdued luster is the velvet fabrics with dark shade. In this study, the luster related properties are examined using some image analysis methods. Yarn models based on the fabric weave types were developed to further investigate the effect of fabric crimp shapes due to weave on the optical properties or luster of the fabrics.

A five-year-old elk (Cervus canadensis) was presented for necropsy to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Chungbuk National University, on May 1999. The farmed elk was died on day 5 after velvet antler removal. By history taking, the elk didn't show any clinical signs except for watery diarrhea during 2 days. For the purpose of physical examination at the velvet antler removal, blood was collected from the femoral vein of elk with a mixture of fentanyl-azaperone-xylazine ($Fentazin-10^{\circledR}$). Urine was collected from the bladder within 3 hours after died. Hemato-logical and clincochemical values of the elk showed normal ranges. In the microscopic finding, many round and ellipse sarcocystis were identified in the cardiac muscle fibers without any surrounding inflammatory reaction.

The article is a critical examination of the political developments in Armenia since the 'Velvet Revolution' of April-May 2018, when, on the wave of massive protests against the ruling regime, new young forces came to power raising amongst broad segments of population enormous enthusiasm and hopes about radical reforms that would lead to profound transformations in the political and socio-economic spheres. It contains a thorough analysis of underlying political processes in the country in an attempt to answer a number of topical questions, so important to get a deeper understanding of the situation in Armenia and in the South Caucasus region. Based on the analysis of the new authorities' performance against the acknowledged benchmarks and standards of democracy consolidation, such as: separation of powers, independence of the judiciary, good governance, transitional justice the author comes to the conclusion that they failed to achieve any breakthrough in the above-mentioned fields. On the contrary, as demonstrated by concrete examples, what occurred in Armenia was not a revolution but a mere regime change under the leadership of Prime Minister Pashinyan, who gradually has concentrated in his hands executive, legislative, and quasi-totality of the judicial branch of power.

The velvet regulators VosA and VelB are primarily involved in spore maturation and dormancy. Previous studies found that the VosA-VelB hetero-complex coordinates certain target genes that are related to fungal differentiation and conidial maturation in Aspergillus nidulans. Here, we characterized the VosA/VelB-inhibited developmental gene vidD in A. nidulans. Phenotypic analyses demonstrated that the vidD deleted mutant exhibited defect fungal growth, a reduced number of conidia, and delayed formation of sexual fruiting bodies. The deletion of vidD decreased the amount of conidial trehalose, increased the sensitivity against heat stress, and reduced the conidial viability. Moreover, the absence of vidD resulted in increased production of sterigmatocystin. Together, these results show that VidD is required for proper fungal growth, development, and sterigmatocystin production in A. nidulans.

Experiments were carried out to develop an optimal nutrient solution for the single-stemmed rose (Rosa hybrida L.) 'Red velvet' in a closed aeroponic system. Plants were grown in 1/3, 1/2, 1, or 3/2 strength of the nutrient solution of National Horticultural Research Station in Japan (NHRS). Significantly less changes of pH and EC ($dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$) in the drainage were observed in 1/2 strength treatment as compared to other treatments. The $NO_3-N$, K, Ca, and Mg concentrations in the drainage solution of 1/2 strength treatment were maintained at optimal levels. These results indicated that the rose uptakes of both nutrients and water was more stable than those in other concentration. The concentration of macronutrients in nutrient solution were adjusted based on the ratio of nutrient:water (n/w) taken up by plants grown in the 1/2 strength solution. The composition of the new solution (classified the University of Seoul (UOS) solution) was as follow; $NO_3-N$ 8.8, $NH_4-N$ 0.67, P 2.0, K 4.8, Ca 4.0, Mg 2.0 $me{\cdot}L^{-1}$. To further evaluate new solution on crop growth, the rose 'Red Velvet' was grown again in l/2, 1, and 2 strength UOS solution to compare with 1.0 strength PBG (proefstion voor bloemisterij en glasgroenpe) solution. Overall the plant growth, including the stem length and number of five-leaflet leaves was higher in 1.0 strength of UOS solution than other treatments. Results presented in this study indicate that the nutrients in the UOS solution are well balanced for the single-stemmed rose in the closed aeroponic system.

낙각시기는 MPA을 투여 하였을때 엘크 및 꽃사슴에서 처리 후 평균 21일에 낙각이 되었으며, 대조구에 비하여 엘크는 평균 37일 꽃사슴은 24일 낙각시기가 빨랐다(P<0.01). MPA 투여구에서는 꽃사슴과 엘크 모두 절각 후 재생뿔이 발생되었으며, 뿔 성장기간은 두 품종 모두 대조구보다 MPA 투여구가 2배정도 길었다. 녹용 총 생산량은 엘크의 경우 대조구 및 MPA 투여구가 각각 7.31, 10.11kg 이였고, 꽃사슴은 1.00, 1.41kg으로 MPA 투여구가 유의적으로 많았다.꽃사슴과 엘크사슴의 낙각이 될때의 혈중 testosterone 농도는 4.0ng/ml 이하였으며, 사슴뿔의 성장기간 동안에도 4.0ng/ml 이하를 나타내었다. 녹용 성장기의 꽃사슴과 엘크 사슴의 혈중 IGF-Ⅰ 농도는 사슴뿔의 성장곡선과 같이 IGF-Ⅰ의 농도도 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다.
