The actual state of motor vehicle fires was analyzed based on Annual Report on Fire Statistics and National Fire Data System and as a result, the followings were obtained. Motor vehicle fires occur over 16 cases every day with over 0.5 casualties and direct property loss of 50 million won. Most motor vehicle fires are caused by mechanical reasons, followed by electrical factors and arson. Arson accounts for 7.39% of all fires but 13.79% of all motor vehicle fires. Yearly fatalities and casualties per 100 motor vehicle fires were 0.9 and 2.4 on the average, respectively. Although fires which occur in the expressway account for 12.55% of all motor vehicle fires, fatalities, casualties, and property loss caused by motor vehicle fires in the expressway were 16.12%, 21.05%, and 20.65%, respectively.

It is often thought that when a fire is found in parked motor vehicles, the fire may occur after an engine stops. Also, it is easy to judge that when motor vehicle fires occur during engine stopping, it may be caused by arson or electrical causes irrespective of a fuel system. This study analyzed motor vehicle fires which occurred in operation but were found after parking and revealed that these fires were caused by the defect of a fuel system and the same motor vehicle types had fires by the same causes. Moreover, this study provided judgement process of major fire causes and periods for fire investigators to apply when investigating fires of parked motor vehicles. And this fire is related to automotive products liability.

Recently, along with the continuous increase in the supply of electric vehicles, electric vehicle fire accidents are also showing a rapidly increasing trend. Electric vehicle fires last for a long time compared to fires in internal combustion engine vehicles and have problems with the risk of secondary explosions and the generation of large amounts of smoke. In particular, electric vehicle fires in underground roads, which are semi-enclosed spaces, may amplify the problems of existing electric vehicle fires. On the other hand, there are no domestic response guidelines for electric vehicle fires occurring inside underground roads. Therefore, an awareness of fire accidents was confirmed through a survey of the general public, and electric vehicle fire characteristics and primary considerations were derived from stakeholders related to electric vehicle fires in underpasses. Through this, the guidelines for responding to electric vehicle fires on underground roads were established.
Purpose and Method: This study aims to suggest institutional improvements to enhance the response to electric vehicle fires. To this end, we examined the prevalence of electric vehicles, fires, and related legal systems in Seoul. Results: The top-level laws and ordinances related to electric vehicles are centered on distribution policies, so there is no practical fire response plan for electric vehicle fires. In order to apply the same regulations to each local government, it is necessary to set standards and establish a system for firefighting and safety facilities in higher laws. Conclusion: Establishing standards for the installation of fire and safety facilities that take into account the characteristics of electric vehicle fires and improving related systems will ultimately lead to an increase in the penetration rate of electric vehicles.

In recent years, vehicle fires account for the second highest rate after residential fires. It accounts for more than 10.7% of the total fire occurrence rate. Vehicle fires are very difficult to evolve at an early stage. Most of the vehicles are burned down in the event of a fire, resulting in a lot of physical and personal damage. In the EU and other countries, efforts are being made to install automatic fire extinguishing systems in preparation for vehicle fires. In addition, since the automatic fire extinguishing system applied to a vehicle must operate in a moving state of a car, a method for detecting a fire is needed. Therefore, this paper proposes a structure of an automatic fire extinguishing system that can evolve a fire when a fire occurs in a commercial vehicle among various vehicles. Especially, it confirms the feasibility of the automatic fire extinguishing system simulated in the laboratory environment and confirms its applicability.
There were little available data of vehicular incendiary fires. We investigated fires by inflammable gasoline and papers. cloths in the interior and exterior of vehicles. Fires in the interior and exterior of vehicles were carried out under the several conditions by incendiary methods and vehicle's windows. We knew that dominant factor of combustion is direction of wind at that time in vehicle's fire. And we knew that the other mark of combustion pattern in vehicle's fire could be a clue for solving the problem in discerning the place to which we sotted fire between the general fire and arson.

Experiments were conducted to evaluate the hazard risks of vehicle fires. Sensors were strategically placed in passenger cars to determine the temperature, propagation rate and direction of flame. The life safety hazard evaluations such as smoke and gas analysis were included. An important ignition position was performed in the engine compartment. The effects of different ignition positions and the opening of door glasses were also reviewed. The experimental results indicate that the maximum temperature when a vehicle burns varies commonly from 90$0^{\circ}C$ -100$0^{\circ}C$. The flame reaches in the face of a driver about 6-7minutes and the windshield glass breaks about 10 minutes after the ignition in the engine compartment of vehicle. And the smoke and gas concentrations reached the limit of human inhalation after 13-14 minutes. Especially the concentrations of carbon monoxide exceeded the TWA(50 ppm) during short time after ignition in cases of all experiments.
Purpose: In this study, the status and the risk of fire occurrence in domestic automobile were evaluated and the damage reduction effect by using the fire extinguishing mechanism was evaluated. Method: The analysis of the risk of the occurrence of Vehicle Fires in Korea and the damage of human and property by the use of fire extinguisher applied to fire extinguisher were investigated and analyzed. Results: The annual damage rate of the damage caused by the automobile fire is 4.74%, which shows an annual increase. As a result of the analysis of the personal injury caused by the passenger car in the car fire situation, the damage amount per 100 cases of the fire occurrence increased from 424.65 million won to 473.06 million won in the past 5 years (2012 ~ 2016). Conclusion: When fire extinguishers are used in the case of passenger Vehicle Fires, the average amount of property damage per fire occurrence is estimated to be about 307.5 million, emphasizing the importance and necessity of the initial fire fighting.
In this paper, we introduce a case of a fire accident during parking of a large truck that is repeatedly occurring. The shape and location of the combustion and electrical singularity commonly found in other vehicle fire accidents could limit the starter motor as the ignition section. In addition, it was possible to confirm the electrical melting singularity that could act as a cause of ignition between the start motor B terminal and the start motor enclosure. By combining the above investigations and investigations, it was possible to estimate the electric fire expressed from insulation breaking of the starter motor B terminal, and by using the renewable starter motor comparison product mounted on the fire vehicle, an experiment was performed to reproduce the ignition process from the starter motor under specific conditions. So. It is hoped that this will raise awareness about vehicle fires, which can lead to large fires or casualties, share the risks of using starter motors for regeneration, and help in the rapid and accurate investigation of similar vehicle fires in the future.
This study analyzed the regulatory actions of disposal gas lighters as well as the situations, causes, and preventive measures of fires, and accidents caused by disposal gas lighters. Since child-resistant lighters became mandatory, the percentage of fires caused by playing with fire has decreased in Korea as it did in America and Japan. Fires caused by disposal gas lighters can occur by afterburning, unintentional lighting, large flames, or explosion or bursting as well as by arson and playing with fire. This study suggests the preventive measures of fires caused by disposal gas lighters as follows: Taking a step not to be used as child's tool for playing with fire, the warning of fire cases caused by afterburning, warning of the dangers of leaving disposal gas lighters on the car dashboard or high temperature places, improving the protective synthetic resin cover of the stop part of a vehicle seat rail, and providing information on precautions for keeping in drawers or disposition methods.
