Whole learning algorithm of the neural network for modeling nonlinear and dynamic behavior of RC members

  • A new sort of learning algorithm named whole learning algorithm is proposed to simulate the nonlinear and dynamic behavior of RC members for the estimation of structural integrity. A mathematical technique to solve the multi-objective optimization problem is applied for the learning of the feedforward neural network, which is formulated so as to minimize the Euclidean norm of the error vector defined as the difference between the outputs and the target values for all the learning data sets. The change of the outputs is approximated in the first-order with respect to the amount of weight modification of the network. The governing equation for weight modification to make the error vector null is constituted with the consideration of the approximated outputs for all the learning data sets. The solution is neatly determined by means of the Moore-Penrose generalized inverse after summarization of the governing equation into the linear simultaneous equations with a rectangular matrix of coefficients. The learning efficiency of the proposed algorithm from the viewpoint of computational cost is verified in three types of problems to learn the truth table for exclusive or, the stress-strain relationship described by the Ramberg-Osgood model and the nonlinear and dynamic behavior of RC members observed under an earthquake.

불균형한 바닥높이가 들기 작업의 최대발휘근력에 미치는 영향 분석을 위한 SVR 예측모델 설계 (The Development of a SVR-based Empirical Model for the Effect of the Unbalanced Floor Height on MVC of Lifting Task)

  • Low back pain is one of major issues in musculoskeletal diseases mainly caused by MMH (Manual Material Handling) tasks. In Korea, the standards of NIOSH(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Lift Equations in U. S. A. have been most widely used. However, there is no standard in case the height of one feet is higher than that of another one. Moreover, since the standards are developed in U. S. A., there are many limitations for the applicability of Korean workers. In this study, MVC(Maximum Voluntary Contraction) for four postures are measured and an empirical model based on SVR(Support Vector Regression) is constructed. Constructing SVR model, PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) is employed to investigate the optimal parameters of SVR. The results show that the performance of this empirical model is approximately accurate, even if the deviation of experimental values is large due to the individual differences. This empirical model may contribute to establish the standards of MMH tasks in Korea.

PPO 알고리즘을 이용한 능동위상배열안테나 적응형 고속 보정 방법 (Adaptive Fast Calibration Method for Active Phased Array Antennas using PPO Algorithm)

  • 본 논문에서는 원전계 환경에서 위상배열안테나를 고속 보정하는 방법이 제안되었다. 원전계에서 수신된 전력만을 통해 각 안테나 요소를 보정하는 기존 rotating-element electric-field vector (REV) 방법을 간소화 한 최대값 보정 방법과, 각 안테나 요소가 아닌 부배열 단위로 묶어서 보정하는 방법이 제안되었다. PPO 알고리즘을 이용하여 위상배열안테나의 분포에 최적화된 파티셔닝을 찾고, 그에 따른 부배열 단위로 보정하여 기존 방법 대비 더 빠른 보정이 가능한 적응형 최대값 보정 방법이 제안 및 시뮬레이션 검증되었다. 보정이 이루어지는 동안 위상배열안테나의 이득이 더 높을 뿐 아니라, 형성되는 빔 패턴이 기존 방법보다 이상적인 빔 패턴에 더 가깝다.

Robust Person Identification Using Optimal Reliability in Audio-Visual Information Fusion

  • Identity recognition in real environment with a reliable mode is a key issue in human computer interaction (HCI). In this paper, we present a robust person identification system considering score-based optimal reliability measure of audio-visual modalities. We propose an extension of the modified reliability function by introducing optimizing parameters for both of audio and visual modalities. For degradation of visual signals, we have applied JPEG compression to test images. In addition, for creating mismatch in between enrollment and test session, acoustic Babble noises and artificial illumination have been added to test audio and visual signals, respectively. Local PCA has been used on both modalities to reduce the dimension of feature vector. We have applied a swarm intelligence algorithm, i.e., particle swarm optimization for optimizing the modified convection function's optimizing parameters. The overall person identification experiments are performed using VidTimit DB. Experimental results show that our proposed optimal reliability measures have effectively enhanced the identification accuracy of 7.73% and 8.18% at different illumination direction to visual signal and consequent Babble noises to audio signal, respectively, in comparison with the best classifier system in the fusion system and maintained the modality reliability statistics in terms of its performance; it thus verified the consistency of the proposed extension.

H.264/AVC Scalability Extension의 부호화 효율 향상 기법 (A Method for Improvement of Coding Efficiency in Scalability Extension of H.264/AVC)

  • 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC SE(Scalability Extension)의 부호화 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 율-왜곡 최적화 기법(Rate-Distortion Optimization, RDO)이 적용된 JM(Joint Model)의 FME(Fast Motion Estimation)를 대상으로 예측된 움직임 벡터의 방향성을 고려하여 탐색영역을 결정한 후 적용적인 후보 나선형 탐색을 수행한다. 다양한 영상들을 대상으로 실험한 결과 기존의 예측 방식에 최대 80%의 연산량을 줄일 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이에 따른 화질 열화는 평균 0.05dB-0.19dB에 불과하며, 압축률은 평균 0.58%의 미미한 감소를 보임으로써, 제안한 방법이 매우 효율적임을 확인하였다.

Optimal Buffer Allocation in Multi-Product Repairable Production Lines Based on Multi-State Reliability and Structural Complexity

  • In the design of production system, buffer capacity allocation is a major step. Through polymorphism analysis of production capacity and production capability, this paper investigates a buffer allocation optimization problem aiming at the multi-stage production line including unreliable machines, which is concerned with maximizing the system theoretical production rate and minimizing the system state entropy for a certain amount of buffers simultaneously. Stochastic process analysis is employed to establish Markov models for repairable modular machines. Considering the complex structure, an improved vector UGF (Universal Generating Function) technique and composition operators are introduced to construct the system model. Then the measures to assess the system's multi-state reliability and structural complexity are given. Based on system theoretical production rate and system state entropy, mathematical model for buffer capacity optimization is built and optimized by a specific genetic algorithm. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by an application of an engine head production line.

  • ECR(Electron Cyclotron Resonance) occure at ${\omega}_c$=${\omega}$, ${\omega}_c$:electron cycltron frequency, ${\omega}$:electromagnetic wave frequency. ECR system have several merit, 1) power transefer efficiency 2) low neutral gas pressure (below 1 mTorr) 3) high plasma density($10^{12}$ $cm^{-3}$). It is applicated variously in the field of semiconductor and new materials as the manufacturing equipment. Magnetic field in ECR system contruct resonance layer (${\omega}$=2.45GHz, $B_z$=875 Gauss) and control plasma. Plasma is almost generated at resonance layer. If the distance between substrate and resonance layer is short, uniformity of plasma is related with profile of resonance layer. Plasma have the property "Cold in Field", so directonality of magnetic field is one of the control factors of anisotropic etching. In this study, we calculate B field and flux line distribution, optimize geometry and submagnet current and improve of magnetic field directionality (99.9%) near substrate. For the purpose of calculation, vector potential A(r,z) and magnetic field B(r,z), green function and numerical integration is used. Object function for submagnet optimization is magnetic field directionality on the substrate and Powell method is used as optimization skim.

근력 지원용 외골격 로봇을 위한 수동형 무릎 관절 메커니즘 개발 (Development of a Passive Knee Mechanism for Lower Extremity Exoskeleton Robot)

  • In this paper, four-bar linkage mechanism for the knee joint is developed which is used in prosthetics. But unlike the prosthetics, the feature of this mechanism is that the instantaneous center of rotation of the four-bar linkages can be moved behind the ground reaction force vector so that it can be passively supported without any external power. In addition, this mechanism is developed similar to the structure of the human knee joint for eliminating the sense of heterogeneity of the wearer. In order to design the mechanism with these two objectives, optimization design process is done using the PIAnO tool and detailed design is carried out through optimized variable values. The developed mechanism is attached to the robot which can assist the hip and ankle joints. In order to verify the operation of the developed knee mechanism, an insole type sensor was attached to the shoes to compare data values before and after wearing the robot. Result data showed that wearer wearing the exoskeleton robot with the knee mechanism was the same value regardless of whether the heavy tool is loaded or not.

유한요소법에 의한 선형모터의 설계 변수 최적화 (Optimization of the design variables of linear motor by FEM)

  • Recently, linear motors are applied to many small precision products. Thus high generating power with small size is required of it. In order to increase the motor efficiency, the design variables need to be optimized. In this study, Vector Fields FEM software, OPERA-3d, was used for simulating linear motor. The thrust and magnetic flux density at the air-gap center were simulated and compared with the experimental results. Taguchi method was applied to investigate the effects of each variables. As a result, the thickness of conductor and magnet was important for the thrust but the thickness of the yoke. The temperature of the conductor was determined by finding the thermal conductivity that was determined by experimentation. Correlation equation relating to the thrust and temperature was proposed by Latin square and Least Square method. The optimum design variables were determined by correlation equation, and compared with simulation results. According to this analysis, thrust force of linear motor was improved about 7% comparing with conventional model.

교차로의 특성을 고려한 도로선형최적화 (Alignment Optimization Considering Characteristics of Intersections)

  • 본 연구에서는 교차로의 비용 및 특성을 고려한 도로선형최적화 모형을 유전자 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithms)을 이용하여 개발하였다. 기존의 도로선형최적화 모형은 교차로 특성을 고려하지 못해서 실제 적용에 심대한 문제점을 내재하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 특정 도로선형에 교차로 건설의 필요가 있을 경우, 민감(Sensitive)하고 지배적인(Dominating) 교차로 비용 항목들 즉, 토공비용, 보상비, 포장비, 사고비용, 지체 및 연료소모비용 등의 산정이 시도되었다. 또한 비교적 우수한 도로선형 대안을 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 탐색과정 중에서 비효율적으로 강제 퇴화시키는 단점 보완을 위한 교차로 국소 최적화 방법(Local Optimization of Intersections)이 개발되어 기존 모형을 보완하였다. 공간상의 도로선형은 매개변수적 묘사(Parametric Representation)를 통하여 구현하였으며 벡터운영(Vector Manipulation)을 통해 교차로비용 산정의 근간인 교차점과 다른 중요점들의 좌표를 찾을 수 있었다. 개발된 교차로 비용산정 모형이 보다 정밀하게 교차로 비용을 산정함이 증명되었으며 궁극적으로는 기존의 최적화 모형의 단점을 보완할 수 있음이 제시되었다. 또한, 새로이 제시된 교차로 국소 최적화 방법이 최적대안 탐색과정의 유연성을 증대하였으며, 결과적으로 효율적인 교차로의 유지에 기여함을 알 수 있었다. 제시된 교차로 국소 최적화 방법은 추후 단일노선이 아닌 도로망 최적화시의 기초를 제시함은 주목할 만 하다. 두개의 예제에서 도출된 최적노선 및 교차로 비용 등의 검토 결과, 도로상의 교차로 건설비용은 도로선형 최적화에 큰 영향을 미치는 실질적이며 민감한 비용 항목임이 검증되었으며 이는 도로선형최적화 모형이 교차로 비용을 반드시 검토 및 평가할 수 있어야 함을 반증한다.
