  • The characteristics of stearic acid and PDA (pentacosaDiyonicAcid) LB films were studied using the XRD spectra for regularity of layers and ellipsometer for the total thickness of multilayer films. From the experiments of varying the PH and temperature, it was found that the stability of monolayer on the water subphase was very sensitive to its PH and temperature. The optimum condition of PH for the stable stearic acid LB film was 6$\sim$6.5. The PDA LB films were stable at the lower temperature than room temperature: we obtained very uniform PDA LB films at 12$^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper is analysis of multiple factor that should be considered in the design of an eddy current brake used as auxiliary brake system. The eddy current brake is a brake that generates a braking torque in a rotational direction opposite to the direction of the rotor by using a time-varying magnetic flux. The eddy current brake has the advantage of being able to take high current densities because this is used for a short period of time. Also, the eddy current brake is influenced by multiple factor such as number of slots, teeth width, coating thickness, air-gap length and so on. Therefore the eddy current brake was designed for use in railway application in consideration of the operation region and critical parameters.

  • Twenty-three fabrics of varying thicknesses and weights were subjected to the maximum pressures of 10, 20, 35, 50 and 70 $gf/cm^2$ to yield pressure-thickness curves. Compression property values were plotted according to the amount of pressure applied to the samples. Pressure increases resulted in decreases in LC (compressional curve linearity), increases in WC (compressional energy) and no change in RC (compressional resilience). The best-fit lines are found separately according to pressures. The thickest fabrics exhibited the highest LC and WC values. The slopes varied different according to the pressure applied, with a pressure 50 $gf/cm^2$ exhibiting the steepest slope at We. The pressure of 20 $gf/cm^2$ correlated most closely with the hand-evaluation test results, yielding Spearmans correlation coefficients of .86 and .82 respectively for the LC and WC.

  • In this work, an analytical formulation based on both hyperbolic shear deformation theory and stress function, is presented to study the nonlinear post-buckling response of symmetric functionally graded plates supported by elastic foundations and subjected to in-plane compressive, thermal and thermo-mechanical loads. Elastic properties of material are based on sigmoid power law and varying across the thickness of the plate (S-FGM). In the present formulation, Von Karman nonlinearity and initial geometrical imperfection of plate are also taken into account. By utilizing Galerkin procedure, closed-form expressions of buckling loads and post-buckling equilibrium paths for simply supported plates are obtained. The effects of different parameters such as material and geometrical characteristics, temperature, boundary conditions, foundation stiffness and imperfection on the mechanical and thermal buckling and post-buckling loading capacity of the S-FGM plates are investigated.

  • Two hundred and sixteen single comb white egg layers of the White Leghorn hens of 24 weeks of age were randomly allocated to 12 groups with three replications of six hens in each. Hens were fed in a factorial arrangement 2${\times}3{\times}$2, on diets containing either 16 or 18% crude protein with 0, 3 or 6% fish meal, replacing groundnut meal with soybean meal. Soybean meal incorporation improved (p<0.05) egg production, feed intake, feed conversion efficiency and egg weights. Egg quality traits of specific gravity, shape index, albumen index, yolk index and shell thickness remained unchanged. Laying performance was significantly (p<0.05) better at 18% than on 16% dietary protein level. Use of fish meal linearly improved egg production and feed conversion efficiency on diets supplemented with groundnut meal and fish meal incorporation showed quadratic improvement on feed conversion efficiency with SBM diets at 16% dietary protein level. Therefore, use of soybean meal as substitute of groundnut meal is recommended in layer diets, at 16% dietary protein level and fish meal incorporation could be beneficial for layers.

  • The interface microstructure of Sn-3.5Ag/Cu joint was modified by electroplating varying amount of Zn on Cu UBM. As the amount of Zn dissolved in Sn-3.5Ag solder increased with the electroplating Zn thickness, Cu-Sn IMCs such as $Cu_6Sn_5$ and $Cu_3Sn$ were replaced by Zn-containing IMCs such as $Cu_5Zn_8$ and $Ag_5Zn_8$, which increased the drop reliability of solder joints significantly. When the amount of Zn dissolved in solder was about 3.8wt%, drop resistance was best due to the effective suppression of Cu-Sn IMC and voids at the interface.

  • The surface properties after plasma etching of TiW alloy using the chemistries of BCl$_{3}$ and SF$_{6}$ gases with varying mixing ratio have been investigated using XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectrocopy). The elements existed on the etched sampled have been extracted with BCL$_{3}$/SF$_{6}$ ratio and their chemical binding states have also been analysed. It was confirmed that the thickness of native oxide formed on the TiW films is thinner than 10nm by using Ar sputtering. At the same time, the roughness of etched surface has been esamnied using AFM (atomic force microscopy). on the basis of the basis of this results, the relations between the caanges of oxygen contents detected by XPS and the rouhness of etched surface have been discussed. And the etch rate and etched profile of Tiw films have been examined and the changes of the etch rate and etched prfile have been discussed with XPS results. From XPS results, the role of passivation layer consisted of Ti-S compound with XPS results. From XPS results, the role of passivation layer consisted of Ti-S compound has been proposed. Ti-S compound seems to make a role of passivation layer that surpresses Ti-O formation.ion.

  • The dynamic output-feedback robust control method based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) method is presented for suppressing vibration response of a functionally graded material (FGM) beam with piezoelectric actuator/sensor layers in this paper. Based on the reduced model obtained by using direct mode truncation, the linear fractional state space representation of a piezoelectric FGM beam with material properties varying through the thickness is developed by considering both the inherent uncertainties in constitution material properties as well as material distribution and the model error due to mode truncation. The dynamic output-feedback robust H-infinity control law is implemented to suppress the vibration response of the piezoelectric FGM beam and the LMI method is utilized to convert control problem into convex optimization problem for efficient computation. In numerical studies, the flexural vibration control of a cantilever piezoelectric FGM beam is considered to investigate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed control method. Compared with the efficient linear quadratic regulator (LQR) widely employed in literatures, the proposed robust control method requires less control voltage applied to the piezoelectric actuator in the case of same control performance for the controlled closed-loop system.

  • The electrolyte wetting phenomena in the electrode of lithium ion battery is studied numerically using a multiphase lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). When a porous electrode is compressed during roll-pressing process, the porosity and thickness of the compressed electrode are changed, which can affect its wettability. In this study, the change in electrolyte distribution and degree of saturation as a result of varying the compression ratio are investigated with two-dimensional LBM approach. We found that changes in the electrolyte transport path are caused by a reduction in through-plane pore size and result in a decrease in the wettability of the compressed electrode.

  • This paper contains a consistent couple-stress theory to capture size effects in Euler-Bernoulli nano-beams made of three-directional functionally graded materials (TDFGMs). These models can degenerate into the classical models if the material length scale parameter is taken to be zero. In this theory, the couple-stress tensor is skew-symmetric and energy conjugate to the skew-symmetric part of the rotation gradients as the curvature tensor. The material properties except Poisson's ratio are assumed to be graded in all three axial, thickness and width directions, which it can vary according to an arbitrary function. The governing equations are obtained using the concept of minimum potential energy. Generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to solve the governing equations for various boundary conditions to obtain the natural frequencies of TDFG nano-beam. At the end, some numerical results are performed to investigate some effective parameter on buckling load. In this theory the couple-stress tensor is skew-symmetric and energy conjugate to the skew-symmetric part of the rotation gradients as the curvature tensor.
