  • The suitcase can follow its owner all on its own via the Bluetooth connectivity in your phone. A robotic vacuum cleaner than can understand voice commands and even follow homeowner. Robots are used in a variety of applications such as a robot wheelchair. In this paper, I focus the problem of automatic return to the base in the process of developing the moving robot for loading things.

  • 진공청소기는 가전 제품 중에서 인간의 일상생활에서 꼭 필요한 가전제품의 하나이다. 그러나, 성능 향상을 위한 과도한 회전 속도 때문에 큰 소음을 유발하며 그로 인해서 사용자에게 소음으로 인한 스트레스나 피로누적 등의 큰 불편을 초래하고 있다. 이것은 진공청소기내에 있는 팬 모터가 30000∼35000 rpm으로 고속회전을 통해서 측에 연결되어 있는 임펠러를 회전시켜 공기를 흡입, 배출시키는 일련의 작동을 하면서 여러 가지 진동 및 유체소음을 일으키기 때문이다. 이러한 진공청소기용 팬모터의 소음 저감 연구는 국내외 관련회사 및 연구소에서 활발히 진행되고 있다.(중략)

Korean Household’s Level and Standard of Consumption: For Developing Sustainable Lifestyle (한국가계의 소비수준 및 표준:지속가능한 생활양식의 실현 모색)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify household’s level and standard of consumption and their related variables in order to derive some useful implications for developing sustainable lifestyle. Data were collected from 567 household wives living in Seoul and the five Metropolitan cities in Korea. The results showed that most households owned such goods as central heating system, shower and bath, refrigerator, microwave oven, vacuum cleaner, washer. TV video player, personal computer, mobile phone, and car. They thought that most of the goods were necessary for the desired level of living and has a strong aspiration to buy those goods. This implied a tendency of uniformity in need perceptions and consumption patterns among Korean households. However, level and standard of consumption measured in selected living area differed according to age. education family size, household income, occupation, and the size housing, which showed that different approach was needed for developing sustainable lifestyle according to these variables.

  • 본 논문은 청소기용 BLDC 전동기 모터에 기존의 전기강관이 아닌 SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite)를 적용하여 진공청소기용 BLDC 전동기 모터 설계를 하는데 있다. 본 논문에서 사용한 SMC는 순철 분말에 전기적 절연 코팅을 실시한 새로운 재질로 현재 많은 연구가 진행 되고 있는 분야이다. 그러나 재질의 특성에 적합한 모터 설계에 관한 연구는 미진 하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 진공청소기용으로 많이 사용되는 BLDC 모터에 SMC를 적용 하였을 때 BLDC 전동기의 특성을 알아 보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 SMC재질을 사용 할 때는 어느 조건에서 사용함이 유리한지 알 수 있었다. 또한 고속 청소기에 적합한 설계를 실시한 결과 SMC 재질의 낮은 투자율로 말미암아 인덕턴스가 감소하고, 전류가 높아져, 출력 증대 되는 것으로 나타 났다. 향 후 본 연구는 SMC를 이용한 BLDC 모터 설계 시 설계 기준으로 이용 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

A Human Robot Interactive System "RoJi"

  • A human-friendly interactive system that is based on the harmonious symbiotic coexistence of humans and robots is explored. Based on the interactive technology paradigm, a robotic cane is proposed for blind or visually impaired pedestrians to navigate safely and quickly through obstacles and other hazards. Robotic aids, such as robotic canes, require cooperation between humans and robots. Various methods for implementing the appropriate cooperative recognition, planning, and acting, have been investigated. The issues discussed include the interaction between humans and robots, design issues of an interactive robotic cane, and behavior arbitration methodologies for navigation planning.

  • Single phase series commutator motors is widely used in various home appliances, such as vacuum cleaner, electric mixers, electrical tools, etc. This paper deals with the characteristics of single phase series commutator motors of which parameters varied with stator turns and stack length to find optimal electric and magnetic loading. We try to measure these data through the experiments with several prototype motors. The experimental results show some specific stator turns and stack length with which this motor has the highest efficiency.

  • The performance of small cyclone is analysed by an experiment for the purpose of developing a bag-less vacuum cleaner. For the high collection efficiency and low pressure loss cyclone, the effect of cyclone inlet feature must be well understood. Four types of the helical inlet are considered to compare with the normal tangential inlet, and also various inlet velocities are used to each inlet type. Based on the reference dimension, each type of inlet shows the changes of the grade efficiency and pressure loss which determine the cyclone quality. The results show that the helical inlet has the smaller cut-size but bigger pressure loss than the tangential inlet. And the degree of opening area influences factors of cyclone performance. As the inlet velocity is increased, the cut-size becomes smaller and the pressure loss becomes bigger of each cyclone. Further studies are required to understand the optimized helical inlet of cyclone.

  • This paper proposes new arc algorithm to detect series quasi-arc. This algorithm analyzes odd and even harmonics until 9th using discrete fourier transform (DFT) and detect series arc comparing RMS values of load current. Resistors, lights, dimmer and vacuum cleaner which can be distinguished linearity load and quasi arc load are adopted to perform experiments. This algorithm is confirmed to emulate arc detecting with measuring current data.

  • 청소 능력을 향상시키기 위해 높은 출력을 갖는 흡입 모터를 탑재한 로봇 청소기의 경우 계통에 연결하여 동작하는 유선 모드와 계통과 분리되어 무선 모드로 동작이 가능하다. 고출력 모터를 구동하기 위하여 듀얼 모드 로봇 청소기는 고용량의 배터리가 필요하고, 그에 따라 배터리 충전기의 용량 또한 증가되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 듀얼 모드 로봇청소기의 동작 모드를 분석하여 유/무선 동작 및 배터리 충전이 가능한 800W급 전력 변환 장치를 개발하였다.

Development of Volume Monitoring System Filled in Storage Space (저장공간에 채워진 부피 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed a system to monitor the storage capacity of suction-type device such as vacuum cleaner or crop harvesters. The monitoring system consists of load cells and a differential pressure sensor which simultaneously monitor the weight and volume of the stock. Since weighing objects stored in storage containers alone cannot fully monitor the level of filling, more accurate monitoring can be achieved by monitoring volume and fusion with weight information. The volume was monitored using a phenomenon in which the flow rate of the inhaled air varies depending on the volume of the object filled in the storage container. In this paper, we developed a system to monitor the storage in three stages: low, medium and high.
