Design of a 12-bit, 10-Msps SAR A/D Converter with different sampling time applied to the bit-switches within C-DAC (C-DAC 비트 스위치에 다른 샘플링 시간을 인가하는 12-bit, 10-Msps SAR A/D 변환기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a 12-bit SAR A/D(Successive Approximation Register Analog-to-Digital) converter that operates at low power for bio-signal and sensor signal processing. The conventional SAR A/D converter utilized the reduction of the dynamic current, which resulted in reducing total power consumption. In order to solve the limitation of the sampling time due to charging/discharging of the capacitor for reducing dynamic current, the different sampling time on the C-DAC bit switch operation was applied to reduce the dynamic current. In addition, lowering the supply voltage of the digital block to 0.6V led to 70% reduction of the total power consumption of the proposed ADC. The proposed SAR A/D was implemented with CMOS 65nm process 1-poly 6-metal, operates with a supply voltage of 1.2V. The simulation results demonstrate that ENOB, DNL/INL, power consumption and FoM are 10.4 bits, ±0.5LSB./±1.2LSB, 31.2uW and 2.8fJ/step, respectively.

  • X-선 회절법을 이용하여 3,6-bis(6'-methyl-2'pyridyl)pyridazine을 리간드로 한 Zn(Ⅱ) 착물인 [3,6-bis(6'-methyl-2'pyridyl)pyridazine]ZnCl2 (C16H16N4·ZnCl2)의 결정구조를 규명하였다. 이 결정의 결정계는 Monoclinic이며 공간군은 P21/a이다. 단위포 상수는 a=15.053(7) Å, b=14.594(7) Å, c=7.628(3) Å이며, β=93.92(4)°, V=1671.9(13) Å3, T=293(2)K, Z=4, Dc=1.594 Mgm-3이다. 회절반점들의 세기는 Enraf-Nonius CAD-4 diffractometer로 얻었으며 Mo Kα선(λ=0.71073 Å)을 사용하였다. 분자구조는 직접법으로 풀었으며, Fo>4σ (Fo)인 1750개의 독립 회절 데이터에 대하여 최소승자법으로 정밀화하여 최종 신뢰도 값 R=8.31%을 얻었다.

  • X-선 회절법을 이용하여 1-(3 Carbamoyl-3,3-diphenylpropyl)-1-methylhexahydro-1H-azepinium iodide[이하: DIP]의 분자 및 결정구조를 규명하였다. 이 결정의 분자식은 C23H31N2O·I, 결정계는 Monoclinic이며 공간군은 P21이다. 단위포 상수는 a =8.937(1) Å, b=19.522(2) Å, c=6.485(2) Å이며, β= 105.18(2)°, V=1091.9(6) Å3, T=293(2)K, Z=2, Dc=1.45 Mgm-3이다. 회절반점들의 세기는 Enarf-Nonius CAD-4 diffractometer로 얻었으며 Mo Katjs(λ=0.71073 Å)을 사용하였다. 분자구조는 직접법으로 개략적인 분자모델을 설정하고, Fo>4σ(Fo)인 4112개의 독립 회절 데이터에 대하여 최소자승법으로 정밀화하여 최종 신뢰도 값 R=5.23%인 최종적인 분자모형을 구하였다.

AN ANALYTICAL DC MODEL FOR HEMTS (헴트 소자의 해석적 직류 모델)

  • Based on the 2-dimensional charge-control simulation[4], a purely analytical model for MODFET's is proposed. In this model, proper treatment of the diffusion effect in the 2-DEG transport due to the gradual channel opening along the 2-DEG channel was made to explain the enhanced mobility and increased thershold voltage. The channel thickness and gate capacitance are experssed as functions of gate vlotage including subthreshold characteristics of the MODFET's analytically. By introducing the finite channel opening and an effective channel-length modulation, the slope of the saturation region of the I-V curves was modeled. The smooth transition of the I-V curves from linear-to-saturation region of the I-V curves was possible using the continuous Troffimenkoff-type of field-dependent mobility. Furthermore, a correction factor f was introduced to account for the finite transtition section forming between the GCA and the saturated section. This factor removes the large discrepanicies in the saturation region fo the I-V curves presicted by existing 1-dimensional models. The fitting parameters chosen in our model were found to be predictable and vary over relatively small range of values.

  • C-fos는 원종양유전자(proto-oncogene)인 v-fos의 세포 동족체로써, 성장인자나 신경전달 물질에 의해 수분 내에 다양한 형태의 세포에서 활성화된다. Fos단백질은 스트레스와 통증 과정의 신호전달기전에서 세포활동을 조절하는 3차전령으로 활동한다. 열충격 단백질(Heat shock protein : 이하 HSP)은 계통발생학적으로 초기 척추 동물에서부터 발현되며 생체방어체계의 중요한 인자로 세포가 고열, 외상, 허혈 등의 스트레스에 직면했을 때 발현이 증가하는 단백질로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 캡사이신(capsaicin)으로 말초 신경병변을 유발시킨 후 통각신경활성의 지표로 이용되는 원종양 유전자인 c-fos의 발현과 열 또는 스트레스로 야기되는 손상에 대한 조직의 방어작용으로 발현되는 HSP 70의 발현을 동시에 관찰함으로서, 급성으로 유발된 말초 신경병변의 확인과 동시에 실험동물 체내에서 방어적인 역할을 밝히는 일환으로 이 실험을 실시하였다. 본 실험의 결과는 다음과 같다; 1. 척수 등쪽뿔 천층(Laminae I and II)에서 각각 c-fos와 HSP70을 항원으로 하는 면역조직화학적 방법으로 염색한 표본에서 0.9% NaCI 투여 2시간 후 c-fos와 HSP70의 양성을 나타내는 세포는 전혀 없음을 알 수 있었다. 2. 척수 등쪽뿔 천층에서 c-fos 단백질을 항원으로 하는 면역조직화학적 방법으로 염색한 표본에서 Capsaicin 투여 2시간 후 c-fos 단백질에 양성을 나타내는 세포가 많이 발현됨을 육안적 관찰로서 알 수 있었다. 3. 척수 등쪽뿔 천층에서 HSP70을 항원으로 하는 면역조직화확적 방법으로 염색한 표본에서 Capsaicin 투여 2시간 후 HSP7O의 양성을 나타내는 세포가 보통수준으로 발현됨을 육안적 관찰로서 알 수 있었다. 이 실험의 결과로 볼 때, 화학적인 신경병변 유발물질에 의한 손상을 방어하기 위해서 체내에는 내인성 물질이 형성될 것이라는 추측과 c-fos 가 다른 유전자의 발현을 유도한다는 점을 함께 고려 하였을때, Capsaicin에 의한 말초 신경병변에서 c-fos 발현이 많이 나타나는 것은 손상을 방어하는 물질의 생성에 관여하기 때문이며, 방어물질 중 이 실험에서 본 HSP70도 증가한 내인성 방어물질의 하나라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper presents the experimental results on the 3-electrode DC-PDP which has a common electrode to improve the PDP life cycle. The measured DC characteristic proves the effectiveness of common electrode absorbing about half of discharge currents. The waveforms for pulse memory operation of3-electrode PDP without crosstalk could also be determined from the I-V characteristics. The pulse memory drives of 8*8 cell array show the frequency response fo memory margin and the luminance efficiency of 3-electrode PDP are quite different from genrally known characteristics of 2-electrode DC-PDP.

Response of the Midlatitude F2 Layer to Some Strong Geomagnetic Storms during Solar Minimum as Observed at Four Sites of the Globe

  • In this study, we documented the midlatitude F2-layer response to five strong geomagnetic storms with minimum Dst < -150 nT that occurred in solar minimum years using hourly values of the F2-layer critical frequency (foF2) from four ionosondes located in different hemispheres. The results were very limited, but they illustrated some peculiarities in the behavior of the F2-layer storm. During equinox, the characteristic ionospheric disturbance patterns over the Japanese station Wakkanai in the Northern Hemisphere and the Australian station Mundaring in the Southern Hemisphere were consistent with the well-known scenario by $Pr{\ddot{o}}lss$ (1993); however, during a December solstice magnetic storm, both stations did not observe any noticeable positive ionospheric disturbances. Over the "near-pole" European ionosonde, clear positive ionospheric storms were not observed during the events, but the "far-from-pole" Southern Hemisphere station Port Stanley showed prominent enhancements in F2-layer peak electron density in all magnetic storms except one. No event produced noticeable nighttime enhancements in foF2 over all four ionosondes.

  • This paper describes a 10-bit 10-MS/s asynchronous successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a rail-to-rail input range. The proposed SAR ADC consists of a capacitor digital-analog converter (DAC), a SAR logic and a comparator. To reduce the frequency of an external clock, the internal clock which is asynchronously generated by the SAR logic and the comparator is used. The time-domain comparator with a offset calibration technique is used to achieve a high resolution. To reduce the power consumption and area, a split capacitor-based differential DAC is used. The designed asynchronous SAR ADC is fabricated by using a 0.18 um CMOS process, and the active area is $420{\times}140{\mu}m^2$. It consumes the power of 0.818 mW with a 1.8 V supply and the FoM is 91.8 fJ/conversion-step.

  • Space-telescopes placed in the Sun-Earth second Lagrange point (L2) observe the sky following a scan strategy that is usually based on a spin-precession motion. Knowing which regions of the sky will be more observed by the instrument is important for the science operations and the instrument calibration. Computing sky observation parameters numerically (discretizing time and the sky) can consume large amounts of time and computational resources, especially when high resolution isrequired.This problem becomesmore critical if quantities are evaluated at detector level instead of considering the instrument entire Field of View (FoV). In previous studies, the authors have derived analytic solutions for quantities that characterize the observation of each point in the sky in terms of observation time according to the scan strategy parameters and the instrument FoV. Analytic solutions allow to obtain results faster than using numerical methods as well as capture detailed characteristics which can be overseen due to discretization limitations. The original approach is based on the analytic expression of the instrument trace over the sky. Such equations are implicit and thusrequiresthe use of numeric solversto compute the quantities.In this work, a new and simpler approach for computing one ofsuch quantities(mean observation time) is presented.The quantity is first computed for pure spin motion and then the effect of the spin axis precession is incorporated under the assumption that the precession motion is slow compared to the spin motion.In this sense, this new approach further simplifies the analytic approach, sparing the use of numeric solvers, which reduces the complexity of the implementation and the computing time.
