New Flash Memory Management Method for Reliable Flash Storage Systems (신뢰성 있는 플래시메모리 저장시스템 구축을 위한 플래시메모리 저장 공간 관리 방법)

  • We propose a new way of managing flash memory space for flash memory-specific file system based on log-structured file system. Flash memory has attractive features such as non-volatility, and fast I/O speed, but it also suffers from inability to update in place and limited usage cycles. These drawbacks require many changes to conventional storage (file) management techniques. Our focus is on lowering cleaning cost and evenly utilizing flash memory cells while maintaining a balance between the two often-conflicting goals. The proposed cleaning method performs well especially when storage utilization and the degree of locality are high. The cleaning efficiency is enhanced by dynamically separating cold data and non-cold data. The second goal, cycle-leveling is achieved to the degree where the maximum difference between erase cycles is below the error range of the hardware. Simulation results show that the proposed method has significant benefit over naxve methods: maximum of 35% reduction in cleaning cost with even spreading writes across segments.

  • If the cloud computing environment is not sufficiently provide the required resources due to the number of virtual server to process the request, may cause a problem that the load applied to the specific server. Migration administrator receive the resources of each physical server for improving the efficiency of the virtual server that exists in the physical servers, and determines the migration destination based on the simulation results. But, there is more overhead predicting the future resource consumption of all the physical server to decide the migration destination through the simulation process in large and complex cloud computing environments. To solve this problem, we propose an improved prediction method with the simulation-based approach. The proposed method is a fuzzy-logic based priority model for VM migration. We design a proposed model with the DEVS formalism. And we also measure and compare a performance and migration count with existing simulation-based migration method. FPLM shows high utilization.

  • Utilization problem of the limited spectrum is the one of the most important issues in wireless communication systems. Cognitive radio technique which is finding and utilizing frequency holes is also one of those techniques. Specially, the spectrum sensing technique to detect the primary user signal is a core technology in cognitive radio area. In this paper, we propose the spectrum sensing algorithm using Bussgang theorem. The proposed algorithm calculates the statistical difference between the Gaussian noise and the primary user signal by applying Bussgang theorem to the received signal. The algorithm is not affected by noise uncertainty and can detect the primary user signal in the very low SNR environment. We evaluate the algorithm through computer simulations with 12 ATSC A/74 DTV signal captures based on IEEE 802.22 WRAN and formulate the sensing threshold for the proposed scheme.

  • In the Internet, as computer resource is developed, multimedia data request being increase more and more. It is effective way that process both high capacity-data and real-time data. Overlay Multicast is an effective method for efficient utilization of system resources and network bandwidth without using hardware customization. Overlay Multicast is an effective method for multimedia data service to multi-users. Multicast tree reconstruction is required when a non-leaf host leaves or fails. In this paper, relay-frame interval is selected as revealed network-state with jitter. In our proposal, multi-user service control algorithm gives a delay effect in multimedia request time. The simulation results show that our proposal takes shorter period of time than the other algorithms to reconstruct a similar tree and that it is a more effective way to deal with a lot of nodes that have lost their multi-user nodes.

  • The copper foil surface inspection system is necessary for the factory automation and product quality. The developed system is composed of the high speed line scan camera, the image capture board and the processing computer. For the system resource utilization and real-time processing, multi-threaded architecture is introduced. There are one image capture thread, 2 or more defect detection threads, and one defect communication thread. To process the high-speed input image data, the I/O overlap is used through the double buffering. The defect is first detected by the predetermined threshold. To cope with the light irregularity, the compensation process is applied. After defect detection, defect type is classified with the defect width, eigenvalue ratio of the defect covariance matrix and gray level of defect. In experiment, for high-speed input image data, real-time processing is possible with multi -threaded architecture, and the 89.4% of the total 141 defects correctly classified.

  • In this paper, we propose a simulator that provides various algorithms of RBF networks on neuromorphic chips. To develop algorithms based on neuromorphic chips, the disadvantages of using simulators are that it is difficult to test various types of algorithms, although time is fast. This proposed simulator can simulate four times more types of network architecture than existing simulators, and it provides an additional a two-layer structure algorithm in particular, unlike RBF networks provided by existing simulators. This two-layer architecture algorithm is configured to be utilized for multiple input data and compared to the existing RBF for performance analysis and validation of utilization. The analysis showed that the two-layer structure algorithm was more accurate than the existing RBF networks.

  • Recently, research and system using AI is rapidly increasing in various fields. Smart farm using artificial intelligence and information communication technology is also being studied in agriculture. In addition, data-based precision agriculture is being commercialized by convergence various advanced technology such as autonomous driving, satellites, and big data. In Korea, the number of commercialization cases of facility agriculture among smart agriculture is increasing. However, research and investment are being biased in the field of facility agriculture. The gap between research and investment in facility agriculture and open-air agriculture continues to increase. The fields of fruit trees and plant factories have low research and investment. There is a problem that the big data collection and utilization system is insufficient. In this paper, we are proposed the system for determining the fruit tree growth stage using a deep learning-based object detection model. The system was proposed as a hybrid app for use in agricultural sites. In addition, we are implemented an object detection function for the fruit tree growth stage determine.

  • In a container-based cloud environment, multiple containers can share a graphical processing unit (GPU), and GPU sharing can minimize idle time of GPU resources and improve resource utilization. However, in a cloud environment, GPUs, unlike CPU or memory, cannot logically multiplex computing resources to provide users with some of the resources in an isolated form. In addition, containers occupy GPU resources only when performing GPU operations, and resource usage is also unknown because the timing or size of each container's GPU operations is not known in advance. Containers unrestricted use of GPU resources at any given point in time makes managing resource contention very difficult owing to where multiple containers run GPU tasks simultaneously, and GPU tasks are handled in black box form inside the GPU. In this paper, we propose a container management technique to prevent performance degradation caused by resource competition when multiple containers execute GPU tasks simultaneously. Also, this paper demonstrates the efficiency of container management techniques that analyze and propose the problem of degradation due to resource competition when multiple containers execute GPU tasks simultaneously through experiments.

  • Untact order payment has become a new normal since the COVID-19. BLE beacon is a technology that supports low-power wireless communication within 70 meters without Bluetooth pairing and is specialized for indoor positioning. Therefore, it is suitable for building and providing O2O services beyond B2C and B2B services. However, beacons have a lower utilization rate because they have fewer platforms than wifi that support long-distance wireless communication. Therefore, this paper aims to provide more convenient non-face-to-face related services than before by designing and proposing an O2O service platform using BLE beacons. When scanning beacons, not only does it receive advertising data that beacons have, but it also ensures that the actual distance between the user's terminal and beacons is accurately calculated. Through accurate location, the O2O service platform will be able to provide users with store information, such as coupons and discounts, museum exhibits, and traffic information at the right time.

PS-NC Genetic Algorithm Based Multi Objective Process Routing

  • This paper presents a process routing (PR) algorithm with multiple objectives. PR determines the optimum sequence of operations for transforming a raw material into a completed part within the available machining resources. In any computer aided process planning (CAPP) system, selection of the machining operation sequence is one of the most critical activities for manufacturing a part and for the technical specification in the part drawing. Here, the goal could be to generate the sequence that optimizes production time, production cost, machine utilization or with multiple these criteria. The Pareto Stratum Niche Cubicle (PS NC) GA has been adopted to find the optimum sequence of operations that optimize two conflicting criteria; production cost and production quality. The numerical analysis shows that the proposed PS NC GA is both effective and efficient to the PR problem.
