Clinical Report of Two Patients with Abnormal Uterine Bleeding Treated by Kungkwikyoae-tang (궁귀교애탕(芎歸膠艾湯) 투여로 호전된 비정상 자궁출혈환자 2례에 대한 증례보고)

  • The purpose of this study is to report the hemostatic effects of Kungkwikyoae-tang for abnormal uterine bleeding. Kungkwikyoae-tang has been known as a useful herbal medication for uterine bleeding. We treated patients who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding with herb-medication, acupuncture therapy, pharmacopuncture therapy and moxa therapy. We prescribed Kungkwikyoae-tang three times a day. The improvement of symptoms were measured by checking patient bleeding volume, frequency and other physical signs. After Kungkwikyoae-tang was given, abnormal uterine bleeding volume and frequency was reduced and other physical symptoms were improved. This case study shows that Kungkwikyoae-tang has a hemostatic effects against the abnormal uterine bleeding.

  • Objectives: This paper aim to report the effects of korean medical treatment including Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang on patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: From 2012 August to 2017 June, six outpatient with abnormal uterine bleeding came to the clinic. The patients took Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang and got acupuncture and warm needle therapy. We assessed the patients' bleeding period and bleeding amount. Results: All patients' abnormal uterine bleeding stopped after they took Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang in 2~40 days. One patient restart slight bleeding, the bleeding stopped after continual korean medical treatment. Conclusions: Korean medical treatment including Yikwiseungyang-tang-gagambang is effective on patients with abnormal uterine bleeding.

  • Purpose : Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is an abnormal uterine bleeding without an organic disease. A hormone therapy or anti-depressant medicine is chosen to treat dysfunctional uterine bleeding. However sometimes it didn't work. Hysterectomy is recommended to stop bleeding but a lot of women are afraid of it. The purpose of this study is to show the possibility of oriental medical treatment for dysfunctional uterine bleeding in this case report. Methods : The 30-year-old female patient who had suffering from uterine bleeding was treated with hormone therapy and anti-depressant medicine. However she was bleeding again. She had no organic disease in some medical examination, finally she was recommended a hysterectomy. But she didn't want the operation. In addition, she started acute abdominal pain. She wanted a oriental medical treatment and we treated her from the May 14th 2005 to the June 4th 2005 in admission. We used Yikweseungyangtang(益胃升陽湯), Ojuksan(五積散), Kwibitang hap Gyoesamultang(歸婢湯合膠艾四物湯) for herb-medication. In acupuncture therapy, ST36(Chok-Samni 足三里) SP1(Eunbek, 隱白) SP6(Samumgyo, 三陰交) SP10(Hyulhae, 血海) Liv1(Daedon, 大敦) Liv3(Taechung, 太衝) LI4(Hapgok, 合谷) was selected. In moxa therapy CV4(Kwanwon, 關元), CV6(Kihae, 氣海), CVl2(Chung-wan, 中脘) was used. Results : After oriental medical treatment for 22 days, she stopped uterine bleeding and recovered her health. Conclusion : Oriental medical treatment is expected to have an effect on dysfuctional uterine bleeding with abdominal pain.

  • Objectives : To examine Korean Medical treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding in classical texts, along with their clinical applicability. Methods : The Benglou chapters in the Donguibogam, Fuqingzhunuke, Xuezhenglun were examined in terms of diagnostic pattern and treatment. Benglou chapters of other medical texts were referenced as well. Basic Korean Medical knowledge of abnormal uterine bleeding and its clinical application were studied. Results : As abnormal uterine bleeding is generally caused by internal damage or deficiency from excessive labor, sexual activity, food, emotional stress, specific causes for each individual should be considered when approaching each case. Conclusions : Korean Medical treatment allows for a tailored approach to each pathology according to age and duration of illness, and has strength in dealing with various situations such as emergency situations, excessive bleeding, blood stagnation. As such, application of Korean Medicine in abnormal uterine bleeding is highly appropriate.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this report is to record the effects of oriental treatments for the abnormal uterine bleeding Methods : This is a case report of a 16 year old female patient suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding for eight months. She was treated by Herb therapy for 3 months. During the treatments, we checked changes of symptoms. Results : After Herb therapy, abnormal uterine bleeding was disappeared and recovered the normal menstrual cycle. Conclusion : This clinical case shows that Herb therapy has potentially effective for abnormal uterine bleeding. More clinical data and studies are required for the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for the abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods : We treated a 30-year-old female who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding for one month by Herb medication(Yikweseungyangtang, Chokyungjongoktang, Jahagehwan), acupuncture therapy and moxibustion therapy at the same time. And these teatments were based on 塞流([sailiu]-stanch blood), 澄源([chengyuan]-correct origin), 復舊([fuliu-restore) which are principles of treatment of 崩漏([benglou]-metrorrhagia). Results : After oriental medical teatment, abnormal uterine bleeding was disappeared and recovered the normal menstrual cycle. Conclusion : This case study shows that the oriental medical treatment in accordance with three principles of oriental treatment has an useful effect on abnormal uterine bleeding patient's treatment and recovery.

  • A 50-year-old female patient who had anovulational uterine with acute heavy uterine bleeding from the 18th., October, 2006 was hosptalized from the 7th November, 2006 to the 18th, November, 2006 in Dongshindae suncheon Oriental Medical hospital. The patient had been treated with herb-meidcation, acupuncture therapy and moxa therapy. In acupuncture therapy Sp10(Hyulhae, 血海,) Liv3(Taechung, 太衝) Sp6(Samumgyo, 三陰交) Cv6(Gihae. 氣海) Cv12(chunwan, 中脘) L14(Hapgok. 合谷) L7(列缺), were used on the 7th, November, 2006. In the Herbal Therapy, Seungynaggihyultang, Gamiguibitang, was used, In the Moxa therapy, Cv6(Gigae, 氣海) Cv12(chunwnas, 中脘) were used.

An Analysis of the Domestic Study Trends on Interventions of Korean Medicine for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (비정상 자궁 출혈의 한의학적 치료에 대한 국내 연구 동향 분석)

  • Objectives: This study was performed to analyze the domestic study trends on abnormal uterine bleeding treated with Korean medicine. Methods: We searched the studies of abnormal uterine bleeding treated with Korean medicine via searching four Korean web databases. After that, we analyzed 15 studies which were selected according to the selection and exclusion criteria. Results: All 15 selected studies were case reports, and the total number of patients included was 33. Herbal medicine was used in all patients, and Igwiseungyang-tang-gami and Jeonsaenghwalhyol-tang-gami were the most commonly used. Other Korean medicine treatment such as acupuncture and moxibustion were performed. Acupuncture point most frequently used in acupuncture treatment were 三陰交 (SP6), 太衝 (LR3), 合谷 (LI4), and in moxibustion treatment were 關元 (CV4), 中脘 (CV12), 氣海 (CV6). In all studies, uterine bleeding was reduced after treatment. Conclusions: This study shows that Korean medicine could be helpful in treating abnormal uterine bleeding. In order to increase the basis for clinical use in the future, high quality of additional studies should be conducted.

  • Objectives: This case report aims to report the clinical effectiveness of the combination treatment of Korean medicine on abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: The patients who diagnosed with abnormal uterine bleeding complained of menometrorrhagia, dizziness, lower abdomen pain and general weakness. They received combination treatment of Korean medicine during hospitalization. The treatments included Guibi-tang-gamibang, acupuncture, moxibustion and pharmaco-acupuncture. Results: After the treatment, abnormal uterine bleeding stopped and the clinical symptoms such as dizziness, lower abdomen pain and general weakness were improved. Conclusions: This case report shows that the combination treatment of Korean medicine with Guibi-tang-gamibang may be effective for treating abnormal uterine bleeding.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the two treatment case of patient with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Each patient has received the Korean Medicinal treatment including acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medication twice a week for a month or six months. This efficacy of treatment was evaluated with the degree of bleeding by the number of pad used per day. After finishing treatment, two patients had stopped bleeding, and their menstrual cycle returned to the normal range. Moreover, additional clinical manifestations including leukorrhea, hot flush, bloating, feeling tired and irritability which refers to the premenstrual syndrome were also alleviated. This case report showed that the acupuncture, moxibustion, and the herbal medicinal treatment can be effective for the treatment of the dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
