  • Mobile device has a constraint such as a small physical display size and interaction. One of the most important issues in mobile devices is the express an identity of one's products company. It can be appeal to the user in side of consistency. Thus, we integrate and extract an identity element from user experience including, Graphical User Interface, Information Architecture and Audio User Interface. The study was conducted by a task force team with User Interface practitioners of managing divisions of each product. In this study, methods and processes that were attempted in order to establish consistency principles of user experiences, enhancing the various characteristics of each product, are described. The results and practical experiences obtained through the processes are introduced.

  • A tool was developed in this research for automation of one-dimensional finite element analysis (1D FEA) for design of a machine tool spindle system composed mainly of a shaft and bearings. As it is based on object-oriented programing, it uses the objects of a CAD system. It requires minimum data to be input to define the spindle system such as shaft cross-sections and bearing stiffness. Then, it automatically generates the geometric model based on the data and then, converts it into the FE model of 1D beams and springs. The graphic user interfaces developed allow a user to interact with the tool. This tool can be applied to identification of a near optimal design of the spindle system in minimum time and efforts by automating the FEA process with numerous design changes.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze user's behaviors and environmental image to show how to plan dining facilities by checking what factors make user's satisfaction and how inferior factors effect dining people. The spaces in this study are dining facilities in a University. Dining places are campus welfare facilities, students don't have other choice. Dining facilities are determined according to user's desire to convenience and time saying. And this facilities will be compliment to resting places in campus. As we know, functional planing facilities are central element in University Master Plan and must consider interior decoration, surrounding places and some other instruments. Scale of dining facilities must accommodate with many students, therefore dining facilities can served as spare place and resting space.

  • Non-territorial workplace has different characteristic from conventional workplace in terms of interior and architectural design and organization management even the user awareness. The purpose of this study is to examine the non-territorial workplace and suggest needs for improving the quality and efficiency of work. To fulfill this task, information describing various environmental conditions and user awareness were gathered from the non-territorial office in Seoul. Data were collected by using questionnaires regarding general information of user and satisfaction of environmental elements that were established on pre-study. Finally, based on the results of this study, the users of non-territorial workplace seem to be satisfied with utilization of space and working but discontent with psychological element such as privacy, security and affinity. Therefore designers should focused more on psychological elements according to users awareness which is the finding in this study among other elements.

  • Throughout the history of computer use, the interface metaphor has been employed to make computers easier for humans to use. Even the earliest command line interfaces used metaphor. Metaphors in user interfaces help to make the software accessible to users and allow the users to communicate with the system as well. User interface guidelines for most of the popular operating systems encourage the use of metaphors in interface design. Thus, metaphor in interface design is employed as central element with a long history. Therefore, this paper will suggest substantiating guidelines which are based on conceptual model and Gestaltprinciples for successful metaphor construction with a better user interface.

  • In this paper a local remeshing technique assisted by user-interface capabiities is presented for precise forging simulation. The rigid-plastic finite element formulation is introduced and the basic approach to the new local remeshing technique is presented. A piercing process in cold forging is simulated by the presented technique and the results are compared in detail.

  • This paper presents development of the program which calculates the electric quantities such as current, voltage at each element of railway electrification system in static state. The purpose of this program is to estimate the adequacy of railway electrification system through simulations. And it contributes the estimations for optimal railway electrification system by calculating the maximum current and voltage. The simulation program is coded through GUI(Graphic User Interface) technique for user to operate easily.

  • This paper proposes a capacitance extraction algorithm based on boundary element method and describes the implemented 2-dimension extractor based on the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm uses a generalized conjugate residual iterative algorithm with a hierarchical subdivision. The implemented 2-D extractor computes the capacitances of complicated 2-D geometry of ideal conductors in uniform dielectric and can be efficiently used in the VLSI layout designs due to its user-friendly GUI.

  • A computer code has been developed for an analysis of conduction and convection heat transfer on a personal computer. FVM based on unstructured mesh has been employed for triangular and quadrilateral element. All variable of p, u, v, T, k and ${\varepsilon}$ has been defined on a node (not on a center of element). The code possesses the pre-and post-processor for itself to provide user-friendly interface.
