  • Trust and perceived usefulness have been variables frequently used by IS researchers to explain consumers' online transaction intention. A group of prior studies have incorporated the two variables simultaneously to build better models to capture the phenomenon. However, the studies have largely ignored the role of trust by replacing trust with trustworthiness. The purpose of this study is to fill this gap. To do this, the study conceptualizes and tests relationships between trust, perceived usefulness and related variables. Based on the study results, the study discusses that trust and trustworthiness are distinct and have causal relationships, the dimensions (ability, integrity, and benevolence) of trustworthiness are related but theoretically distinct, and trust performs a mediating role within its nomological network.

  • This study developed the traceability information for tracing fishery products from the production step to the consumption step in the distribution channel of fishery products. Based on it, we further presented the theoretical linkage between traceability information and perceived qualities of internet shopping malls, and then investigated how traceability information affected trust and perceived usefulness in the internet shopping mall to find the key success factors of internet shopping malls of fishery products. We collected 194 responses from internet consumers who had prior experience on purchasing fishery products. This survey data was used to empirically test the ten research model hypotheses by using PLS. The PLS results indicated that traceability information had significant impact on trust and perceived usefulness. Finally, trust, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were found to be related to online consumers' intention to purchase fishery products.

  • This study was examined empirically the relationship between exogenous and endogenous variables to use internet shopping malls. Exogenous variables in our model are retrieval simpleness, quality of order treatment, web reputation, update and system quality and endogenous variables are perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and intention of using internet shopping malls. The results of the path analysis are shown as follows. All exogenous variables have a direct effect on perceived ease of use while both retrieval simpleness and update has a direct effect on perceived usefulness. The perceived ease of use has a direct effect on the intention of using internet shopping malls and has a indirect effect on the intention through perceived usefulness. Especially, web reputation among the exogenous variables has the strongest impact on the perceived ease of use and retrieval has the strongest impact on the perceived usefulness.

  • Although research on acceptance of information systems provides useful insights in understanding users' behavior, we need to further understand factors that cause long-term or continued use. This article therefore examines the role of users' maximizing tendency (i.e., individual differences in pursuing the best option) in continuance intention of Web sites. By controlling for disconfirmation, ease of use, and product involvement, we empirically investigate the relationships between satisfaction, usefulness, and continuance intention to online bookstore Web sites. As suggested by the information technology continuance model, the effects of satisfaction to and perceived usefulness on continuance intention to Web sites are positive for individuals with low maximizing tendency (i.e., satisficers). Satisfaction and usefulness, however, are not associated with continuance intention for individuals with a high maximizing tendency (i.e., maximizers). The implications for both researchers and practitioners are discussed.

  • The objective of this study is to explore the effects of e-teaming users' self-efficacy and perceived service quality for e-teaming staffs such as instructors or teaching assistants on two main perceptions for e-learning systems in a view of information technology - perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness which have been considered as important antecedents for acceptance of information technology so called in Technology Acceptance Model. For this purpose, we suggest a research model and test it empirically by sampling in students of virtual universities. In result, all hypotheses except the relationship between academic self-efficacy and perceived usefulness are accepted. This result implies that self-efficacy for computers and service quality for staffs such as instructors or teaching assistants should be considered as important ones for success of e-learning systems in addition to those related with information technology.

  • This paper proposes perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness mediate this relationship. The results can be summarized as follows. First, the greater the property management system's information quality, the greater the perceived ease of use. Second, the greater the perceived ease of use, tile greater the perceived usefulness. Third, the greater the perceived ease of use, the greater the using intention of system. Forth, the greater the perceived usefulness, the greater the using intention of system. Finally, the greater the using intention of system, the greater the usage of system.

  • This study investigates how enjoyment (or playfulness) affects user acceptance of hedonic-oriented (or pleasure) information technology based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). A research model was made to examine the effect of enjoyment on the user acceptance of hedonic information technology. 186 responses were collected from university students who had experiences on Daum's Digital View which is a well-known example of digital signage technology. The result of the statistical analysis reveals that enjoyment also had a strong effect on the acceptance of hedonic information technology, in addition to perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, perceived usefulness is reported to most strongly influence the adoption of Digital View. The effect of enjoyment on intention to use was also significant, but enjoyment shows a much low degree of influence than perceived usefulness on intention to use.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the perception of usefulness and the use degree of search and purchase about internet shopping of housewives. Specifically, this study analyzes the trend of the perception of usefulness and the use degree of internet shopping, and closely examines the influential factors. The major findings are follows: (1) Those who are college-educated, employed, positive about household informationalization, internet-educated, highly capable of the internet, and comfortable with an issue of an effluence of personal data showed high perception of usefulness of internet shopping. (2) Those who are young, college-educated, and employed showed the high use degree of search. Those who are age 20 to 30, college-educated, employed, and at the early stage of family life cycle showed the high use degree of purchase. In addition, those who are positive about household informationalization high in the tendency of innovation and the awareness of time constaints, exposed to the internet education, high in the internet capability, and low in a burden of the internet bills and the effluence of personal data showed the high use degree of search and purchase.

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the structural relationships between the intent to continue using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and its determinants based on the information systems continuance expectation-confirmation model. A total of 156 students from five different universities in Korea completed an online survey. An analysis by structural equation modeling revealed that college students' intent to continue using K-MOOC is partially supported by the model. Although perceived usefulness and confirmation are strong determinants of satisfaction and intent to continue using information systems in general, confirmation was the only significant predictor of satisfaction, the only significant predictor of intent to continue to use K-MOOC. Written responses on the survey were used to interpret the results. Findings indicate significant effects of confirmation on perceived usefulness, of confirmation on satisfaction, and of satisfaction on intent and insignificant effects of perceived usefulness on satisfaction and perceived usefulness on intent to continue. Substantial implications for future research and practices are discussed.

  • Customer reviews are one of the important sources for purchase decision makings in online stores. Online stores have tried to provide useful reviews in product pages to customers. To assess the usefulness of customer reviews before other users have voted enough on the reviews, diverse aspects of reviews were utilized in prevous studies. Style and semantic information were utilized in many studies. This study aims to test diverse alogrithms and datasets for identifying a proper classification method and threshold to classify useful reviews. In particular, most researches utilized ratio type helpfulness index as Amazon.com used. However, there is another type of usefulness index utilized in TripAdviser.com or Yelp.com, count type helpfulness index. There was no proper threshold to classify useful reviews yet for count type helpfulness index. This study used reivews and their usefulness votes on restaurnats from Yelp.com to devise diverse datasets and applied text mining approaches to classify useful reviews. Random Forest, SVM, and GLMNET showed the greater values of accuracy than other approaches.
